It sucks that these guys give the good drivers a bad name. These are the same drivers with 25000 deliveries. Somehow giving the platforms, oversaturating the market to allow lower pay to the good ones
I don't agree with the restaurant owners statement of him saying when items go missing it's because of the driver stealing it. That's not always the case!! I delivered McDonalds to someone before. She called me and said at least two items were missing from the bag. I told her that I'm not allowed to look in the bag. She re-ordered the food items that were missing. It all worked out. See sometimes it's the restaurants fault! I have gotten food delivered as well. Some items were missing. I remember twice on different occasions there was a drink missing. Then in another different time, a side dish was missing. I just don't always believe it's the driver. Sometimes it's the restaurant!

The customer foods deserves to be right in the driver’s stomach. I did delivery for grubhub a few times and found that most of the customers doesn’t want to pay for the driver’s time and expenses and it’s kinda hard for me to care what the driver did even though it’s not something I would do. Though, I guarantee you, if the restaurant owner do delivery orders for grubhub themselves based on what the customer willing to pay, this restaurant will be out of business faster than a blink of an eye.

I am pointing out how horrible the pay is as most customers trying to take advantage of drivers at drivers’ expenses and It most certainly has to do with the customers as the driver’s payout wholly depends on tips because without tips, it’s almost impossible to survive on grubhub base pay lol. Grubhub base pay per miles is $.34 which means if you drove 7 miles and spent about 25 minutes on that particular order including drive to restaurant, pickup order and deliver to customer for which 25 minutes of your times were spent on that given customer’s order. 1 miles to restaurant and 6 mikes to the customer, keep in mind, you don’t get pay for that one miles to the restaurant. So 6x.0.34= $2.04 is your base pay with no tip. So all that works just for $2.04. If customer doesn’t want to tip, that’s fine. Their foods will more than likely just sit at the restaurant and get cold then in the trash🗑️

I was a Postmates delivery person prior to COVID-19 and would have NEVER done that. I always made sure that I never touched their food and gave them plenty of napkins and ketchup
This is very common across America, too many people without morals, respect, and decency. Skimming off chicken wings, pizza toppings, fries, chicken strips, shrimp....The online menus are already 10% ~ 15% more expensive, then they added service fees, delivery fees, and drivers want fat tips??? The whole country should just band together and stop ordering deliveries.
This is why I don’t order food delivery even though I’m paralyzed. I do drive so I take my lazy ass out into the world and pick up my own food. These people are not only eating your food, there have been reports that people also mess with your food depending on your name and what part of the city you live in.

I had a door dash driver eat about a quarter of my pad-Thai delivery. I'm a regular at this restaurant I ordered from. Always amazing proportions. They even draw a smiley face on the box. they also always include sealed plastic utensils, every time. this time, sticky bag seal was opened, utensils were gone, and some food was missing. Reality is he didn't even deliver it. His teenage daughter ran the food to me from their car. maybe 13-15, She was snickering and nearly tossed the food at me. So not only did he steal, but this guy also stole from me while in the company of his kid. I reported him, got a refund and made sure door dash knew that it wasn't the restaurants' fault. they got back to me with one of these cookie-cutter non apologies. Obviously, I had to toss the order out. still peeved at that scumbag.
Try to always report bad service/poor product quality. They are read so make them "public" so everyone can see the reviews. Now, you can even [separately] rate your delivery person. Word.
Total breakdown of the driver/customer trust. I’ve delivered pizza for years and I have never but I do tend to bring snacks while delivering Because working with food is torture when you’re starving

I've heard of drivers partially eating the food or pretending that they delivered it and keeping it for themselves. This is the exact reason why I don't use the service. People cannot be trusted when they're left alone with your food.

The drivers are not employees, so you can't "fire" them. They are independent contractors (no guaranteed minimum wage, no benefits, no employee labor law protections), so the only thing GrubHub can do is kick them off their platform = suspended (or deactivated).

I was a Doordash driver during Covid lockdown here in LA. I learned about all the things that can happen to food between preparation and delivery which is why I no longer order food to be delivered!

this is why proper sealing of food is important for me whenever i order from doordash. that way if there's even the slightest indication of tampering, i'd throw the food away. i don't like the idea of the food just being in a plastic bag tied. that could easily be replaced with another bag. stickers sealing often can be reapplied. mcdonalds paper bag plus stickers combination is harder to tamper with that's why i often order from them even though i'm sick of mcdonalds but the packaging gives me a bit of peace of mind.

Yeah, Grubhub, Uber, Lyft, Doordash, etc., they're all contractors and not employees. No unemployment, no social security, no vacation, no health or dental, etc. Unlike the working class, who can only make so much because they're paid by time, being your own boss allows you to make more money the harder and smarter that you work. No rich person got there by working for hourly wages.
I'm sure there are plenty of food delivery drivers who do the right thing, but those like the creep in the video are the reason I've never utilized those services. Thank goodness for the decency of the restaurant owner. He deserves all of the new business he's about to receive as a result of him going above and beyond.
As convenient as this service may be... I simply don't use food delivery services. This is stomach-turning gross! Shame on Grubhub for not firing that driver. This isn't his first time of course.
This is so irritating. I do deliveries myself and have used it too. I can't tell you how many times I've had my doordash order be stole from me by them. They'll go through the process and last minute when they want you to take a picture, they press handed over to the customer and then drive off. The fact he's doing this, esp in CA where we get a guaranteed $15 an hour is nothing short of sick. He could literally do 3 or so orders, end the session and get the money put in the card right after. So many drivers do this when low on cash. Gross
DoorDash isn’t any better. The driver sent a black picture and I received a notification saying my food had been delivered but there was nothing at my door. I tried contacting the driver and no response.
I tip but I tip after receiving my food most of the time because when I tipped before they wouldn’t follow directions and would leave it in wrong places. Other times I may increase the tip. At the end of the day 2 wrongs don’t make a right. Don’t order food if you can’t tip and don’t pick up food to be spiteful.
Then you'll have some of the scummy Grubhub drivers (not all) defending this fool and saying the driver is justified in eating the food depending if the customer tipped and distance of the destination. 😤🙄 Just gives a bad reputation to all the Grubhub drivers who are honest hard workers and upstanding individuals.
This is always the risk of ordering from these types of places where strangers have to deliver your food. They need to start installing cameras in these cars on Grubhub's part.
I've done postmates and doordash for years and unfortunately there are a bunch of complete idiots that do deliveries for these companies and they make everybody look bad. Many of the drivers will go pick up orders and then when they get to their cars will just unassign the order meaning that it goes to the next driver and they'll just eat it themselves. Then we show up and the restaurant says "A driver just picked it up". That actually happens a lot.
I rarely use these delivery services. I mainly use them when I travel and even sparingly then. I don't trust random people just transporting my food. I noticed some restaurants don't seal the lids on drinks so a random person can just open up my drink or sip it or take a food item and then I have to report it as missing to the restaurant. Not to mention the ridiculous fees. I'm fine with picking it up myself.
Just suspended? Shouldn't the driver be charged with something. He has broken Grubhub's terms, is damaging the reputation of the restaurant and there's possible health implications too. At least name and shame him so he can't just move to Uber Eats etc.
I have almost 2500 deliveries this year from doordash and I never ate anyone’s food and I’ve had my 2005 car give me issues and I still delivered even when my car overheated but who steals food in a Lexus suv those are expensive. Bad apples in every profession.
These people from UberEats had the nerve to eat my food, took the receipt off the bag to make it seem as though the restaurant forgot about it! Also had the nerve to write me have a great night with a smiley face!!! Needless to say, I reported it and got all my money back. This guy is a hero!

I was a Doordash driver during Covid lockdown here in LA. I learned about all the things that can happen to food between preparation and delivery which is why I no longer order food to be delivered!
Morals and ethics have gone down the drain in this generation.

Kudos❤️👏🏾to this restaurant owner. The mere thought of someone eating my food is disgusting & the reason that I don’t use food delivery services. Folks continue to forget that surveillance cameras are absolutely everywhere.
This is why I pick up my food when I order off of Grubhub. The last guy didn't even show up and Grubhub was kind enough to refund me.

As a driver I have never eaten any of my customers food. I’m glad GH doesn’t rank us but maybe they should. I do a good job so I’m not worried.

This is why i dont do delivery. Just go pickup your food. Imagine how many of these incidents go unnoticed or not reported.
this is why proper sealing of food is important for me whenever i order from doordash. that way if there's even the slightest indication of tampering, i'd throw the food away. i don't like the idea of the food just being in a plastic bag tied. that could easily be replaced with another bag. stickers sealing often can be reapplied. mcdonalds paper bag plus stickers combination is harder to tamper with that's why i often order from them even though i'm sick of mcdonalds but the packaging gives me a bit of peace of mind.

Yeah, Grubhub, Uber, Lyft, Doordash, etc., they're all contractors and not employees. No unemployment, no social security, no vacation, no health or dental, etc. Unlike the working class, who can only make so much because they're paid by time, being your own boss allows you to make more money the harder and smarter that you work. No rich person got there by working for hourly wages.

I'm sure there are plenty of food delivery drivers who do the right thing, but those like the creep in the video are the reason I've never utilized those services.
Thank goodness for the decency of the restaurant owner. He deserves all of the new business he's about to receive as a result of him going above and beyond.
As convenient as this service may be... I simply don't use food delivery services. This is stomach-turning gross! Shame on Grubhub for not firing that driver. This isn't his first time of course.

This is so irritating. I do deliveries myself and have used it too. I can't tell you how many times I've had my doordash order be stole from me by them. They'll go through the process and last minute when they want you to take a picture, they press handed over to the customer and then drive off.
The fact he's doing this, esp in CA where we get a guaranteed $15 an hour is nothing short of sick. He could literally do 3 or so orders, end the session and get the money put in the card right after. So many drivers do this when low on cash.

Restaurants need to take pictures of the order before it goes into the bag and send it to the customer so it looks and contains the exact order.
If I can't get up off my sofa and go get my own food then I'm not hungry.
I deliver part-time, and I would never even think about touching someone's food. That's just so gross.

DoorDash isn’t any better. The driver sent a black picture and I received a notification saying my food had been delivered but there was nothing at my door. I tried contacting the driver and no response.
Don't take this the wrong way but most people that look like you DONT TIP lol no tip no trip now if u do tip then that's messed up
I tip but I tip after receiving my food most of the time because when I tipped before they wouldn’t follow directions and would leave it in wrong places. Other times I may increase the tip. At the end of the day 2 wrongs don’t make a right. Don’t order food if you can’t tip and don’t pick up food to be spiteful.
Grub hub doesn’t care…. I can’t even imagine how many drivers spit, play, or god knows what they do to the food…
Then you'll have some of the scummy Grubhub drivers (not all) defending this fool and saying the driver is justified in eating the food depending if the customer tipped and distance of the destination. 😤🙄 Just gives a bad reputation to all the Grubhub drivers who are honest hard workers and upstanding individuals.
This is always the risk of ordering from these types of places where strangers have to deliver your food.
They need to start installing cameras in these cars on Grubhub's part.

I've done postmates and doordash for years and unfortunately there are a bunch of complete idiots that do deliveries for these companies and they make everybody look bad. Many of the drivers will go pick up orders and then when they get to their cars will just unassign the order meaning that it goes to the next driver and they'll just eat it themselves. Then we show up and the restaurant says "A driver just picked it up". That actually happens a lot.
I rarely use these delivery services. I mainly use them when I travel and even sparingly then. I don't trust random people just transporting my food. I noticed some restaurants don't seal the lids on drinks so a random person can just open up my drink or sip it or take a food item and then I have to report it as missing to the restaurant. Not to mention the ridiculous fees. I'm fine with picking it up myself.

Just suspended? Shouldn't the driver be charged with something. He has broken Grubhub's terms, is damaging the reputation of the restaurant and there's possible health implications too. At least name and shame him so he can't just move to Uber Eats etc.

I have almost 2500 deliveries this year from doordash and I never ate anyone’s food and I’ve had my 2005 car give me issues and I still delivered even when my car overheated but who steals food in a Lexus suv those are expensive. Bad apples in every profession.
