At the moment there are NO test dates in the Bay Area so only rich kids from Menlo/Palo Alto get to travel out of the state to get test dates and its unfair to poor ppl
@@Livinia1 is that for real? how are these kids applying to out of state colleges? They all fly or do a long drive to another state? That sounds ridiculous
@Livinia1 Not unfair to poor people, it’s unfair to SMART people. Those who can do well on the test and add that as an advantage to their portfolio. Poor people are more likely to apply and get in because of the costs of the test
It’s the only part of the admissions process where you can’t commit fraud (or is very very hard to) and isn’t unfair to low income students. Extracurriculars take money. You don’t know who really wrote the essays, whether it was a college counselor. And how is a public school counselor who is responsible for 500 students going to write a personal recommendation vs. a counselor from a small private school? The application process favors the wealthy. The SAT/ACT tests help point out gifted low income students. Every school should bring back the requirement.
Another failed progressive-left policy. Stanford is admitting by its action that adequate academic preparation for college is necessary and that such tests are an effective tool for gauging that preparation. In other words, the traditional way is the best way.
actually studies prove grades are a better indicator of success nd that test scores are an indicator of wealth since wealthy students just get tutors and have the ability to see doctors to get extra time notes lol so you are wrong!
It had nothing to do with politics, right wing will do anything to make it political man it’s actually scary the level of sheep mentality in todays politics
I applied to Stanford as a transfer student in 2022. Thought it was fantastic that they didn’t require testing, but they *required* a letter from my last commanding officer, someone I haven’t spoken to in years. After jumping through hurdles, I apply and find out that Stanford would not accept any of my regional college credit because the courses were taken online.
maybe it's easier to get into Stanford compared to a decade or so ago. but you still have to pass the rigorous courses to graduate, and that's probably not a walk in the park.
@mapl3mage Unfortunately Stanford is more concerned with DEI than meritocracy, and has lowered its standards to meet political agenda goals over education.
Just curious how many of those campus activists are getting in without test scores. Now the school realize those minions should never have spots in elite colleges🤡🤣
This has little to do with how students admitted without test scores are currently enrolled --and isn't likely to change the demographics of upcoming classes at schools like Stanford
By all means, inflate the tuition through the roof…. Pass on the chocking debt to untested and unsuspecting. Does stanford require vaccinations to attend??
UC is joke to not accept test scores

It is unfair to low income students, especially since super scoring was allowed
DEI (didn’t earn it) party is over.

Important to study.
Merit based please. Its unfair to the person like me who studied well despite being poor.

different highschools inflating gpas for no reason means standardized testing is needed and the only way to truly stand out
A Stanford education used to mean something. Now it's a joke.

Due? Little to DUE??
I guess this is an admission that the "holistic admissions process" is a failure in identifying successful students
