Any 14cm pot fita nicely with those collapsible wood gasifying stoves, which is nice. The zebra is a lunchbox and great at that, you can store food on top two different compartments and keep it separate. It's not watertight, but a simple silicone ring solves that - you can also use it to carry the pot without the inside pan. I keep a pot grabber inside mine, which allows me to grab the pot for pouring and the little pan for frying. It really is versatile once you add that! (While pouring, since there's no spout, you need to use some utensil to guide the liquids where you want them - i prop my spoon up against the lip of the pot and all water just streams alongside the spoon due to surface tension)
The firebox stove channel does a lot with the Zebra billy can, so you get some ideas from there. It can boil, bake, fry, bain-marie, steam etc. Literally nothing you can't make with it except gold 😂
Also glad to know you can cook on anodized aluminum over an open fire. I've been wanting to get the Soto Navigator cookset but I had doubts about cooking on my wood stoves with it.

Thanks for showing those to us, Jeff. I have the Solo 900 Pot, but I don't mind the fact that it has no bail. Its going to be sitting directly my the Solo Stove, which was designed to fit inside this particular pot.

That little dish that you were wondering about
makes for a double boiler set up perhaps the best way to avoid burnt food is by using the double boiler method. Nice feature is that one can go away and leave stuff cooking in that little dish suspended 🤠over the boiling water.

    Really nice presentation brother.
I have the zebra pot. And would like to see folding handles on it and a tighter lid, though I remove and reattach the clips each time. Great review.
    Be well
    Craig

Hi Craig- I did like the Zebra but didn't want to take off then put back on those clips, if they redesigned it without the clips and put side handles it would be prefect....Thx for watching brother!

here's my 2-cents worth for me personally... the mors: yes i would like if was SS. the solo: great if was just tid-bit larger and had a bail. the zebra: agreed that thick non-locking bail and no side folding handles limits it's desirability. i prefer a lid that doesn't friction fit. evbods diff. GD vid & thumbed up / thanks!

Hi Jeff, I couldn't catch the name of the last big pot you described. Can you give the name in text here, or maybe a link to buy online?
I'm having a hard time with my pot too, so I would be much appriciated if you can give me a link or a name in text here.
And thank you for the great videos!

You can replace the plastic clips on the handles with metal ones from here. www.fireboxstove.com/camping-gear?page=4
This allows you to pour without difficulty.

  • @GreyEagle42
    @GreyEagle42 6 ปีที่แล้ว

You're comparing oranges to apples. The 1.8L solo pot has a bail. You can get metal clips for the Zebra pot from Fireboxstoves.com that will take the heat and lock the handle.

I just bought one. ~ One of those adjustable folding steamers (like butterfly wings) fits right inside. (5.5") If add proper sized SS cookie cutter it could fit beneath the steamer and give you a longer boil time if needed. (higher off bottom)
~ I don't want to drill holes in my SS pan that comes with it.

  • @Imightberiding

Good comparison & explanation of these cook pots. We are agreed on the Mors Kochanski camp/bush pot except for the anodized part. Useless additional expense unless you are using it on a stove or your kitchen. Good all around camp cook pot. Not sure I would replace it with stainless steel. I've never subscribed to all the aluminum paranoia & BS. No solid, real proof as of yet. In fact, recent studies have disproven all the articles about the wicked effects of aluminum.
BTW, you can cook/steam veggies or fish or just keep something warm in that little pan that comes with the Zebra pot while boiling water for something else or cooking whatever else in the pot. Just set the pan on top & close the lid. It's not just a serving dish. Cheers.

      >>>BTW, you can cook/steam veggies or fish>>>
Unless you drill some holes in it, you can't steam anything in the top pan...there's no way for steam to get to it.

Unfortunately they do not make it any longer. Pathfinder however has a Mors bushpot that is made of Stainless steel.

The best pot is the one that works for YOU not what someone else says is best. Mine is none of the above although I do have the Mors pot from FourDog but don't use it as much because I use a smaller pot and it nests my stove, etc. perfectly. None of the pots above are perfect but I would definitely add volume markings to the Mors pot or the equivalent Pathfinder pot.

You use the lid , flip it upside down, hold it on the bottom of the pan and use it to pour.

Hi mate, I'm a big fan of the Mors pot. Been using it for over a year now and it's rock solid. Just a suggestion regarding the Zebra insert, you can use it as a Bain-Marie. You could be cooking rice in the bottom section while steaming veggies or reheating in the insert. Works well.

I have the Solo Pot 1800 and it does the same. Fits the Solo Stove Titan, which has space for bigger pieces of wood.
Works great, my only regret is the spout matches the butterfly handle best for pouring from my right hand, where I’m used to hold my cup.

The surplus military mess kits are good for basic cooking and a lot cheaper than these. Germany, Poland, Russia and Sweden for instance have great bale handle kits.

I always bring homemade biscuits and such. Turn the lid over and heat them on top of the pot. But with your zebra pot, you could put the biscuits in that inner pan to heat. And for a bail, I use safety wire. In the future, could you add the weights in your reviews, if it is not too much trouble?

Solo Stove makes a larger pot than the one you show on your video that has both the bail, and butterfly handles in Stainless Steel. The next size up..

The mors pot is a copy of a boyscout or some other outdoor pot Mors Kochanski found that worked for him. He had said it in several of his videos.
