    We took our nephew to meet Greg Valentine at a local comic-con recently. For $35, he could have been alot less of a dick, especially to a teenage boy who looks up to him. Scott Steiner was alot friendlier and more gracious to his fans.

      Sassy Troy He had his own booth next to Scott Steiner. He acted like he really didn't want to be there and when my nephew would ask him questions about getting started in wrestling as far as schools go, he gave short and rude answers. He signed an autograph and posed with Ben for a photo but he looked like he was being held hostage. Scott Steiner was just the opposite and was a dream to meet. I wish we would have waited the two hours to meet Roddy Piper because he passed away like a month later.

      +Wolverine Pete sucks when that happens. It leaves a huge impression on you afterwards. I had a sorta similar experience with Tommy Dreamer at Fan Axxess for WM 18. People say he's fan friendly but that day he sure wasn't.

    No. Hammer was a more serious wrestler and RnB was a cartoon. Maybe if Hammer put more effort into it, they could have been more serious in the ring. And working with the Bushwackers didn't help.
    The Road Warriors upset the WWF tag team scene in a bad way. One, I see them as an NWA team and don't think they would have been as bug in the WWF as Vince thought. Two, maybe 87 would have been the right time to bring in the Road Warriors. But by 89-90, there was Demolition (coming to an end of their run), Hart Foundation, Rockers, RnB, Reaugeaus, Brain Busters (who I think had left the WWF anyway), Powers of Pain. The WWF didn't need the Road Warriors at this point, the tag teams were doing fine.
    IDK how much changes in the tag team scene were directly caused by the Road Warriors. Brain Busters left the WWF on their own. Powers of Pain split up into midcard boring singles wrestlers. Demolition's run had come to an end. Hart Foundation split up. Rockers split up.
    Basically in a short time, there went from five or so teams worthy of the belts, to depleted tag team talent.

    • @georgenoriegajr
      @georgenoriegajr 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      bellefeu
      Although wasn't Patterson notorious for sexually harassing lower card guys? I think Barry O was one of the guys that accused Patterson of harassment and claimed that he was turfed out of the WWF when he complained about it. Steve Lombardi was another one that Patterson took an... interest in.
      If I recall, it was 3 guys, Terry Gavin, Mel Phillips and Pat Patterson, who sexually harassed (and if you believe some of the reports, did worse to) the jobbers and ring boys. It's kind of messed up now to listen to the old WWF broadcasts and listen to Gorilla Monsoon, Alfred Hayes and Gene Okerlund point out that a jobber "graduated at the top of his class from the Terry Garvin School of Wrestling" and understand what they're really saying.
      I would guess that someone like Valentine, who was already established as a main-eventer in the Mid-Atlantic and NWA territories, probably wouldn't have had to put out for Patterson in order to get ahead in the WWF. Then again, wasn't there an interview with Roddy Piper, another guy who was already big when he got to the WWF, where he got upset and choked up when they asked him if Patterson had done anything to him? So who knows.

    • @bellefeu
      @bellefeu 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    • @bellefeu

      Tim Allen To team with Barber and HTM would be depressing indeed. No argument there. WWF/WWE has no respect for well-established many wrestlers' histories. Among other examples, look at Harley Race having to wear a crown as 'The King'. Same with Haku/Meng or Road Warriors. These are polite examples. McMahon is probably *ahem* respect-challenged unless he can claim to building a wrestler's careers from scratch...with concomittant control

    Rhytym and Blues were tag team champs for a bit with Johnny V as manager. Johnny v used to be the annoucer with Gorilla Monson on WWF Superstars. After one natch against jobbers, it was the first on the night, Johhny V. disappered and showed up for the last match. Gorilla Monson said "were have you been the whole night. Johnny V swai " I manage the tag team champ,I'm the announcer I come and go as I please. Gorilla saild you missed the whole show , what were you doing? Johnny V said We were looking at game film of the match to improve ourselves. Gorilla said " But you won the Match. Johnny V said " Because Joe Montana win the game, he doesn't watch game file all week." This were when the 49ers were in the middle our there superbowl run. Good response by Johnny V.

    They would have been a good team to put the belts on, and then have the Road Warriors debut and destroy them to win the titles.

    "Rhythm and Blues" was a fitting name for that team. In hindsight, I wish they had given them the belts, because Valentine got the tag-team championship shortly after losing the IC title, and it would have extended HTM's standing. Greatest tag-team champions of all time!

    I never got Greg Valentine. Bad look, no charisma, yeah he could wrestle but he was boring to watch. He should be grateful he was in wrestling with the WWF when they were on fire in the 80's and early 90's.

    No disrespect intended,
    but as a spectacle, and physically
    there is no way, Honky,
    and even with a legit tough wrestler like Valentine could compete
    with two 6'-6" 320 pounders like the Animal and Hawk.
    You can pay your dues, and be a reliable worker, but when something undeniable comes along.

      ifitscool - Powers of Pain were pretty dead by the time of R&B. I started watching wrestling just after they separated. Demolition (especially Ax) were on their way out or down and mainly did the LOD feud.

  • @jcelldogs
    @jcelldogs 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I always hated the road warriors/lod. They were a tag team everyone kissed their asses wherever they went. They basically put an end to my favorite all time tag team in demolition because they couldn't stand competition. Demolition got jobbed out and they turned demolition into heels to get fans away from them to clear the path for the road warriors to be the favorites.

    They missed out on great matches road warriors trying to get the belts from honkey n the hammer would've been great and you have them keep cheating to hold the belts until WrestleMania then the warriors win the belts then you have them rematch the warriors all over the country.
