    Hi all. After watching your brilliant no-nonsense videos, and having a couple of test rides, I eventually found my 200-mile 2020 Metropolis in July this year (2022). At 6'2" I've found a trike that fits, and believe me, it's done a few more miles now.
    In the past, I had 3 years on an MP3 500 as well as a Yourban 300 for 12 months, though I'd definitely say the Metropolis is a completely different beast, having the quietest, smoothest, and most responsive engine of the three. It's also really well finished and well balanced, as its nose sits forward and low, so it really sticks to the road ( I once had the independently-legged MP3 'waltz' over a lane at high speed on an open motorway bend).
    The only slight issue is missing the 2-helmet storage under the seat, but I'll take that!. As accessories, I've added a satnav, a windscreen deflector (highly recommended), and a pair of bar-end muffs.
    I'm really chuffed with my Metro, and good luck finding yours. Cheers.

    Hi, after watching your videos and a test ride on a Metropolis I was convinced on the merits of this great scooter !
    I had my new Metropolis delivered yesterday on a nice warm dry day but I had a lot on so unfortunately I haven't ridden it yet !
    couple of biker friends looked it over and were very impressed by design and build quality , thanks again for highlighting this unique machine the power of the internet is so helpful in informing ordinary people to research and look at all options when buying something new !!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi, I believe what you have done in regards of travelling to n from work is great. I've watched a few of your video's and enjoyed them all, and looking forward to watching more.
    I have a a1 bike licence and I've just bought the piaggio mp3 400cc, and like you it's the extra freedom and stability on the road. Take no notice of negative people they are only good weather riders. I say don't knock it until you've tried. Well done and stay safe. Ade

    Hi Three Wheel Diaries, I think your reviews are awesome. You say how you feel honestly and you show so much realism and common sense regarding your choices of bikes and trikes etc. Respect to you!! I can advise that the NC700\NC750S (2015) is a fantastic bike for all the reasons that you mentioned. The one down side for me is that at 216KG, I have had it fall on me during training. Even though it had crash bars on it, it is still exceedingly heavy on the legs. Other than that, your comments were accurate about the NC700 (plus similar 750S that I ride).
    I saw the Metropolis at a garage recently - the 2015\2016 Blueline model. It was a stunning trike, and the garage salesman in Nottinghamshire in addition to its Master mechanic gave the trike a fantastic recommendation. Just you continue to do what is right and practical for you. As you rightly say, it is your choice. In any case, three wheels are far safer than two wheels anyway in terms of riding over diesel spills etc. You are a lovely reviewer. Keep up the good work!! Many thanks!!

      I just read your excellent post and was just a little concerned about the bit you mentioned about it falling on you,i am 72, and 5 ft 6 in tall, so should i be thinking of a different bike completely,i have been very interested in the metropolis for some time and missed out on one in Newark recently.So basically just worried about how heavy they are,

    Great video. I also commute on my Piaggio MP3 125 & I completely get where you're coming from. I'm about to go for my full bike license so I can revive the L plates.
    keep the videos coming!

    Liked the update esp the types of weather you are doing on the metropolis.I have a 1000cc bike and would like one for winter commute so i can stay on a bike but with the added advantage of three wheel stability.I have seen them at the motorcycle show and chatted to the sales rep's now have to test one and scrape some money together, it's good that you are eager to get on it no matter what you ride you must want to get on it to make you happy.I do 8000 miles on my 1000cc bike but like someone else said keep the metropolis as a back-up to any two wheeler.

    I'm buying this bike next yr. 2023 have like you reviewed others and the only other that I considered was the mp3 400. Have ridden a Kawasaki GTR 1000 which was dam comfortable the seat was super wide for long journeys meant comfort. I also owned A Rally bike and a GT 350 Belt driven the GTR 1000 was Drive shaft driven which was super smooth the other small bikes were in my opinion great but the seats were after long journeys bum grinding & I believe the Metropolis ah a wonderful shaped seat like my old GTR 1000 because I plan to ride 260 miles from Norfolk to Lancashire lake district etc etc Blackpool. Apparently the Metropolis is quite a stable bike in strong winds because of the front two wheels & I like how you can adjust the front shield up and down to suit on the GTR 1000 I had a good shield which did the job with wind and rain. Not only that the Metropolis looks great in my opinion and has good storage with additions of adding a top box. perfect for me and a pillion.... £5000 for me is perfect for good second hand CASH because I hate finance it's my last ever purchase in life 56yrs old now lol full bike licence so lucky there...

    Hi, Great to see an update, very interesting. Strangely, I seem to have been having the same thoughts as you re: next bike. I have been thinking about having an MT125 to learn on before going for my DAS and then thinking of an NC750s DCT after I pass. I would be very interested to see a vlog on your MT if you have the time?? Keep up the good work, ignore the idiots who post negative comments! All the best- Phil

    Thanks for another really informative and helpful video.
    I'm sure there are bikers who would just leave a 2 wheeled bike at home rather than commute say 10 miles in horrible weather. Or if they did ride, they would be going around corners in the rain over sketchy road surfaces with their hearts in their mouths, in case the front end went.
    It seems to me that the Metropolis and the MP3 give you enough extra front end grip and extra confidence that you feel you can do a long ride safely in bad weather, and not be nervous approaching corners, uneven surfaces, etc.
    Part of me is thinking about friends or people I've heard about who've been injured to varying degrees over the last ten years in bad weather, sometimes through an unexpected spill, or when they didnt even see anything amiss with the road surface but went down anyway, on a roundabout, corner or whatever. A couple I know are speed merchants anyway and would probably have been pushing their luck a bit, but its frightening how vulnerable you are when its starts raining.
    So I'm starting to wonder now that I've turned 50, and given how much longer it takes for broken bones etc to heal at my age, would I be better leaving 2 wheel bikes for dry days only, and get myself a Metropolis for the rainy days and the winter.
    The problem for me is that I cant afford to buy and run two bikes, so it looks like I will have to make a decision between the extra safety but much slower speed of the 3 wheelers, versus the speed and the good looks of say a Ducati Scrambler, which I was thinking of getting next.
    If you could only have one bike, and if you didnt have such a long commute, would you still choose the Metropolis, or would you chance doing it with a 2 wheeler?

    • @beanobsessedroasters9073
      @beanobsessedroasters9073 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tony C - Not sure I can give you the answer your’re looking for. I have the Metropolis because I ride all year round come what may. It also has plenty of storage and a lot less knickerable than other scooters. But it is more expensive to run than a 2 wheel bike. I enjoy riding my Vstrom more - there isn’t really a comparison performance wise. Winter riding is very hard on a bike - even if you use ACF50 or Scottoiler FS365, salt is an absolute killer.

    • @bigtoe333333
      @bigtoe333333 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your reply Philip, I guess its up to the individual to make their own choice between how much they value safety against speed/style.
      I was going to go for a Scrambler, this summer, but I think I got spooked by the number of people I've heard of being injured in the last few years, and I started to think about 3 wheelers instead, and was encouraged watching your videos. Now I honestly don't know!

    • @beanobsessedroasters9073
      @beanobsessedroasters9073 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tony C Ducati Scrambler is a nice looking bike - but has zero weather protection as a commuter, still has been used to do a round the world trip...Have you actually test ridden any of the 3 wheelers yet - you really need to have a go. Slightly more left field choice would be a Yamaha Niken - but even second hand these are 10k.

    • @bigtoe333333
      @bigtoe333333 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do realise you're basically right about trying them Philip, and I will do that before I decide.
      But for me, in a way the decision about 3 wheelers comes before I even try them. I want to keep my next bike for a few years, but I'm in an unusual situation in that I'm hoping to retire early in 2 years and move onto a canal boat. So I wont need to commute daily, but the bike will still be my main transport, so I might need it on winter days, rainy days, etc.
      I also like doing trips into Scotland (and Brexit permitting, into Europe), so it needs to be at least 400cc.
      Weight is a bit of an issue in that I will have to able to run it down a short and mostly level ramp to get it off the boat (although I may weld in a car engine hoist to lift it off, not sure yet).
      The ktm Duke is a lightweight but reasonably powerful choice, but I just dont like the way it looks, and that will bother me.
      So my needs are quite unusual, and very specific in a way- although I am starting to boil it down to either a Scrambler/Moto Guzzi V7, or else a Metropolis/MP3..

    • @beanobsessedroasters9073
      @beanobsessedroasters9073 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tony C - I think an MP3 or Metropolis will be way too heavy - they’re 260kg.. Better off with the scrambler.

    The tyres are cheap. Good to see it's been reliable. I can certainly see the attraction of three-wheelers. In fact, I have a Can-Am F3-S, but in 250,000 miles of two-wheel riding, I have never lost the front wheel and still ride conventional motorcycles. I can see why you want your full bike licence.
    I divide my time between southwest Portugal and northern Thailand. The Can-Am is in Portugal, along with two bikes. I tour on the F3-S. I am about to buy a Yamaha Aerox 155 for use in Chiang Rai.
    I don't know how you can watch Cager on Two Wheels.

    Any chance of an update now that you have had it for a couple of years. I note you are now changing your own oil and filter. Are you self servicing the bike now? I am considering one but a Yamaha tech told me they go rapidly down hill after around 9-10,000 miles. Hoping that is not the case. You seem to be the only owner who provides such excellent feedback.

    hi great info on your videos !
    can I ask how the Metropolis is on the odd motorway or dual carriageway trip at 65 to 70 mph for say 10 to 20 miles ? would it be OK ? and not to much to ask of it ? and info if pillion passenger would go OK around country roads could bike handle it or would it struggle ?
    I'm seriously thinking of getting one , I had it in my mind to go for a Piaggio Mp3 500 because of the extra cc but you have got me swayed to the Peugeot now , thanks great videos !!!!

      +aon ONE Hi Aon, the Metropolis is absolutely fine on the Motorway - I've been up and down the M4 a couple times - will sit happily between 70-80 mph and still give a little for overtaking. Wind protection is excellent as well. You should try both to be sure if you can..

    unfortunately i have to stop with the full car licence route because of birth disabilities and now in late nov 2016 a (your gonna die in 5 months ) type of thing, but hey i am only just getting back into bikes when i was given that info,
    in may i bought a two wheel pulse 49cc moped/scooter which i kept till sept 2016, had the news then started to suffer with balance, NOT GOOD ? so after 12 weeks sold it and bought a second hand piaggio mp3 250cc 2006/7
    it had been standing for nearly 2 years (engine starts only + new battery) so got my brother to come to my home in the welsh mountains and i bought from argos a 6 man tunnel tent (door each end) to double as mobile garage, it worked very well and over 2 weekends the bike was ready, so after all my dvla and ins checks i put her on the road, have not ridden her yet but this week weather permitting, it should be D-DAY, i did start off in march 2016 with an electric 3000w rear hub motor scooter/moped electric with 72v battery , but my health took a nose dive and i found it was to large to handle, so, here i am with a bigger more powerful more stable tricycle which is easier to balance, I HOPE , i totaly agree with your point of view, and statements made, i was governed by cash only scraping together £3445 obviously needed gear and tools, and parts, then bike, transport costs
    with my brother getting a new hire van plus fuel, so i paid £1300 for the bike, worth a bit more in good nick possibly £1600+
    anyway i am happy, and i hope there diagnosis is wrong a wee bit so i have most of the summer,brill.
    as a young 20 yr old bike mechanic i always wanted a Hondamatic 750cc with side car, it never came off, so here i am,
    by the way bike has only done 6000 miles verifiable, so i had changed , belt kevlar /rollers and polini racing variator/ full flow
    oil filter/ triple nose iridium plug/ oil/for engine/transmission, a voltage regulator which i might send back or keep as a spare,
    anyway thanks for letting me ramble on, and keep the videos coming, i have liked/subbed, and will follow avidly your journey
    Dave W

    Hi I'm wanting to buy a Metropolis for myself but I'm struggling to find insurance. I only have a car license and I've just been quoted £3800.

    • @beanobsessedroasters9073

      Alex Clitheroe - 😳 I pay around the £200 mark - so not sure what’s going on - are you very young? Perhaps worth seeing if doing a CBT will reduce the cost - £3800 is ridiculous

    • @anenglishidiotincanada7136
      @anenglishidiotincanada7136 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Philip Sowels I'm 29, they said that the price of the bike and where I kept it at night was the biggest factor. It'd be kept behind a locked gate with a ground anchor and kryptonite chain. Can I ask who you used? I was going to do my CBT anyway so I'll see if that brings it down any.

      I’m with Principal - was with Lexham - have never paid more than £400, but my bikes are garaged

    • @anenglishidiotincanada7136
      @anenglishidiotincanada7136 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Philip Sowels I have got the option of putting the bike in my shed as it's garage sized and fully secure. I've tried this and the cheapest I'm coming out with is £1085 fully comp or £331 third party only. Unless I can drastically get it down then it's not a viable option for me.

    • @beanobsessedroasters9073

      Alex Clitheroe - I’d bet there haven’t been any Metropolis’s stolen - not weighing 256kg and with keyless ignition...

    This scooter NEEDS one of the 'collapsible-folding-type' roofs on it! It needs it BAD! That's one miserable-ass ride with all that road-shit and water 'pattering' on you constantly...as well as being cold at anything over fifty or so.(I would keep one car for 'big stuff' & long-trips, and use the scooter for 'everything else') I also believe that the 300 to 400cc range is more than enough power to drive in traffic with...because anything over 65/70mph means using a car instead of a motorcycle of any kind due to safety and comfort issues.
