He did so much for Parx and Garden State: excellent announcer, good at anticipating developments. He began in 1986 right before I moved here. Well-earned retirement. So much of my money hung on his every word.
You know the guys I grew up with, Durkin, Jones, Luke Kruytbosch(RIP). So many greats but that’s a lost art now too as the last racino I worked at had an announcer that was so bad he was muted in the buffet that overlooked the track during live racing.
@@robs531 Sadly far too many of them are bad. But horse racing is not a business that younger people are looking to get involved in. Most young people are unaware that horse racing exists, let alone become race callers..... I cannot imagine you will ever see another Durkin........The better guys now are from Australia
Too bad he spent his time calling garbage fixed races at Parx... Parx, Penn National, Mountaineer, Charlestown. Some of the Worst Through bred racing ever. Best Wishes in retirement Mr. Jones

Keith Jones was a consummate professional. Easy to listen to.
One of the best ever

@@stewart437 there are good race callers out there and it’s not a bad paying gig but my old racino owner is too cheap to pay fair value.
Hello!!! I loved when he said that when a bomb wins.
Very fitting for your last race call, may your next phase in life be an unbridled adventure, may you visit romp city
He was one of the best.
he really was good. What do they mean? like here when he says......"by seven ....on the wire"? wha is that?

He did a lot more than call races plus he had a nice voiceover career in the fourth-largest radio market in the United States.
Classy comment NOT. He also did in arena work for the Flyers.
@@robs531 sounds like you have never been to the track
@@bucketmouth7705 huh? Based on what????
@@robs531 I guess you’ve never watched your horse pack it in 10 yards from the finish line.
