He should do motivational speaking and write books. I also think he could have a reality show like Iylania or Dr.Phil etc. on a network discussing his challenges motivating other men. As a black man myself his openness and transparency is so rare and is needed. I encourage him to set up his own TH-cam etc. Before you know it he will have a publisher or network ready for him to share his story. He is unique and gifted.

Grand Rise to all of the people who come here to share light and love. How is it we have allowed mental illnesses to get so out of hand? It’s sad that if you can’t see it we won’t deal with it. These souls deserved better from a society that puts so much emphasis on how we look on the outside. The hurt in his voice hurts me so much. He couldn’t have spoken any better. Thank you friend for opening yourself up to all of us. Light and love to you💜

When I'm in good health my mother will poke the fire to start up another mania then calls the police to have me baker acted. It's just entertainment for her. If anyone wants her Facebook to harass her just let me know.

Well, we're in a new age where information has become widely available. Think about it. For millennia, human society has had ALL SORTS of issues, particularly mental issues. It's not until the modern age that we've begun to actually categorize, analyze, and begin to address these issues via the advent of science and technology. We just finished mapping the genome. The CRISPR program is still being developed. Quantum computing will change medicine forever. We got a long way to go before we reach the point where we can fully address mental health, but fortunately, we're making strides, albeit slow.......

Same here, same problems, drugs, alcohol, beein lost to the point i got suicidal.. But then i asked myself 3 questions; 1. What do i want? 2. How can i get there/ How can i achieve it? 3. Whats the price/ what are the consequences?
I kicked off drugs and alcohol. I am married with 2 kids now and life has changed. I have daily structure now and got me a part time job.. Step by Step everyday..And every step takes me further away from my past and closer to a better life, bcoming a better person.. If i can do it, YOU can do it as well.. It aint easy, but it is definitely possible! And most of all, its fucking worth it! So Keep on..
Ps. I also seeked help, i took and still take meds, started 150mg Venlafaxin (Trevilor) almost 15yrs ago..i reduced it to 75mg now and close to get off of it 4 good..

not seeing a choice is the same as not having a choice. It is not there for you, not represented to you, you are made to see it as weak because of surroundings etc etc. Some nuance, try complex thinkinh.
The choices are as much as are available to you, and you got to see it first. And there is a huuuuge problem with mental health system as well, and millions of horror stories coming therefof.

Eric. Thanks for being an advocate for mental illness. Too many people don’t realize it’s as real as any other illness and that there is medicine and therapy that can “cure” or at least lessen the symptoms. I suffered from ptsd, depression & anxiety due to childhood abuse and domestic violence in my home growing up. It had been a part of me forever, so much so that I couldn't recognize what it was. Not until I received therapy did I start to develop self awareness and tools to deal with it. Depression and anxiety can be debilitating!! I think that is why I come here to hear people's stories because I can relate to an extent. My hope is that mental health would become a priority in our country. I missed out on so much before therapy. It was hard, hard work and would not have been able to do it without the support of my husband. Without him I would of kept stuffing the pain and self medicated somehow because a person can't survive otherwise! I am very familiar with self sabotage.
Best wishes to all who struggle with this. You are not alone. Keep seeking help.

Appreciate your comment whole heartedly. I believe that our country has done a whole generation and then some of kids a disservice by not including complex ptsd as an official diagnosis in the DSM 5. Every child deserves a parent, but not every parent deserves a child based on some of the crappy parenting there is in the world- and no blame it is what it is, but for so long we’ve skipped passed acknowledging trauma for what it is & even more importantly what it does. I’ve recently been reading “the body keeps score” and it’s been such an enlightenment on how trauma especially done unto children impacts brain development in a whole other way than ptsd in grown adults say coming back from war. Mental health is so undermined in our country when it shouldn’t - I became a psychology major because I wanted to understand my childhood and self better. For as much externalism there is in the world and how much our world is based on it.. the skeletons are coming out to show the true state of every ones mental condition/ health. Ode to my psych teacher: “everything that is psychological is biological. And everything that biological is psychological”
I feel a shift that is showing up in this world as encouraging more hidden angels like this to be seen and heard on major platforms like this.. to help put the usefulness back into technology and bring back a sense of realness & relatability between us humans..

It is so helpful when people talk about mental illness and their experiences. I relate SO much to what he went through with crippling anxiety and just feeling helpless. Though as he said, he had the ghetto and racism on top of it all. Mental illness is unbearable enough on its own. Thanks Eric, I know your words will help others.

I can relate so much and i just wanna cry because... it’s like every single thing he says about how he felt before the meds... after the meds... the ups and downs. That is exactly what I’ve been trying to tell my family and doctors since i was 12 bruh. Now I’m gonna show this video. I even tried drawing it out and that didn’t work. Thank you Sir.

When he said "Can you cut me some slack" I felt that done away with drugs got a CDL still drink from time to time but that scares me I need to get me a routine going like the gym I'm 6 ft used to be 190 big in the army gotta get back to it I feel Eric's story I only got better after therapy. I like how he makes no excuses for the drug use.

You are brave and should be so proud for taking the steps to care for yourself. What a wonderful man to interview! He was so honest about himself and his life. His mother suggesting he need to talk to someone early in life was probably one of the most important pieces to this puzzle for him. That conversation seemed to have the left the door open for him in his life, didn't put a negative on hope. He is an advocate for the mental health system and I hope he continues to speak his truth for himself and all the others like him. Wish I lived closer, would so make him my friend.

What mother tells her 15yr old “I think you need to see someone” without taking charge and scheduling appts and getting support services in place for meds , occupational therapy etc…… I did for my grown kids and my grand baby with diagnosis from Autism adhd depression anxiety & bipolar between the four of them. Take charge and take the time mama’s give our babies the best running starts in life. It’s hard as it is. Praying for you brotha 🙏

This is a wonderful testimonial about mental health. I hope that seeing a strong male willing to admit he needs help will encourage others, especially guys, that it isn’t weakness to need or ask for help. I’m sure so many don’t get the help they need because they don’t want to be seen as weak when it’s exactly the opposite, it takes strength to get help to help yourself. Thanks Eric.

Isn't it interesting that people (of whom Eric is a great example) would rather admit to all types of "wrong" things they've done and all sorts of bad things that happened to them. But mental (un)health and the related vulnerability is still one of the toughest things to admit to. Thank you for sharing, Eric, this can only make you stronger, not weaker! As strong as those muscles:)

Abusing family, hate toward my life and people, etc...to tell you the truth. I'm just waiting for anger to get me introuble and go to jail again. I'm so scared to have a child and do the same exact things to my children. It's like a have a bad seed and I'm going to pass this to my child and they will be bad too...I want help so so bad.
