I was one of the ones who was disappointed when they announced this game. However, this game is actually incredible. The back stories, mythology and lore, level design, combat, art style, music. Everything is so well done.

I was like a lot of fans of the POP sands of time, this didn't look fun to me, but I bought it for the switch and man, I fell in love with it. Its slick, and most important FUN. Good video man, keep up the good work. I hope Ubisoft makes a sequel of this with a bigger budget, better story and the chance to play as other characters. I think that would be a dope add on

I've found people who rated the story low, without exception, didn't get to the true story hidden behind 100%.
[Spoilers below for the Prophecy and the Impossible Climb]
Sargon was Thomyris' real son switched out at birth, for she feared he would suffer the same fate as his two assassinated brothers.
The game started when the Queen, realizing Persia was crumbling and her grip on the empire loosening, decided it was time to make Sargon the next king (by plotting a kidnap and tricking him to get blessed by Simurgh). The story ended with Sargon, after learning the truth, stood by his morals and refused the crown, depite earning god's blessings.
It was a story about how the illicit prince of Persia learned that true power came from humbleness and empathy, and as a result Simurgh favored him over the legit prince Vahram. The plot emphasized being a worthy prince wasn't determined by one's bloodline, but by selfless actions, a will to save others rather than to rise above them.
Then you realize every scene, every interaction in the game revolves around the theme, and it's really a well thought-out, well-executed story. The hints and clues have been cleverly scattered all around (down to everyone's name, for example "Sargon=true king"). And it adds to the satisfaction of finishing all quests and finding out the last puzzle in the game is the story itself.
(Btw Radjen is confirmed to be in the story dlc.)

Totally behind this comment, it's a shame you need to do 100% of the game to get this information though. Like I said due to a glitch I couldn't get 100% and refused to replay the entire game just to save a parrot 😂
Thanks for taking the time to write out an in depth comment!

@@graciousrhino I agree the down side of telling only half the story through the main campaign is it ends up feeling underwhelming and disjointed, especially for those who paid close enough attention to notice something was off, but didn't wish to push forward to learn why. While personally I was invested enough to be rewarded with the final twist, I can totally see how this risky narrative choice negatively impacted others' enjoyment of the story.
Otherwise it's a really great analysis! I'd love to see more of your content.
