the guy hasnt said a single item of worth or even skillfully articulated in his entire body of work. if nick had a slightly more complementary sidekick he'd probably be owning several nissan dealerships by now
I live close to that first house in Ransom TX. Sick to see it on scuffed whoever requested it. I’ve walked several times around it and it’s a sick view but dog-shit to do in the surrounding area
I’m a “Luxury” Builder near Seattle. Just found this channel and love the reviews. Your commentary is exactly what I ask our designers and architects. Especially that stupid fkin skylight
Up close that metal house is nuts. I had a customer that lived next to it and it’s the talk of the shitty lake neighborhood it’s in. Cool house if it were somewhere worth living 😂 trust me. You don’t want to live in that thing
Either build something intentionally and unmistakably retrofuturist to some era or try something timeless. Like a folk victorian, or if you have extra production effort available to you a foursquare. Works well in small-medium houses, for larger houses it may be necessary to make it bland (neo-eclectic with inoffensive white interior/very carefully applied natural wood with focus on keeping homogeneity throughout the house) as named prior in the thread. The important thing is to not get caught up on gimmicks, especially with appliances and machinery. Make sure the kitchen is conventionally good and make luxury through quality rather than bells and whistles. Solid fridge, solid freezer, oven with either a gas or conventional induction stove. No one in 20 or even 5 years from now wants to see an air fryer built into a wall just because that's a status symbol for terminally on-after-lunch-coffee-with-coworkers Gen X females in CURRENT YEAR. Avoid. Touchscreens. If you're going to make the bathroom textures anything else than white-and-gray tiles you can do that but make it removable and replaceable because one thing I've learnt from Nick is that no man likes another man's unique bathroom design. Keeping off the gimmicks goes to the exterior too. If you're going to have the pool, make it perfectly circular or absolutely rectangular. Yes, you may round the edges, but that's it. No "lagoon", no weird banana you can see from the ISS. Shallow end and deep end on each side of the pool unless you're keeping it to a singular depth. This doesn't work in the US purely out of environmental mismatch with surrounding architecture but for Europe: neoclassical is the functionally best, most timeless, and evidently most desired style for highrises. Build that for residential blocks, brick-and-mortar, and offices. For single family homes, the same can and must be said for national romantic jugendstil. Build those. They'll sell, they'll last, and everyone but the most soy-drinking bugcreatures will like them whether or not they live in them because they are pure eye candy. Aside from buildings meant to be homes, some types of buildings inherit styles that are timeless for them but not other buildings. For example, gas stations thrive as functionalist and googie buildings because the popularity of those styles coincided with the height of technological advancement for the business those buildings did. Remember that just like googie and functionalism can easily look terrible for other types of buildings than gas stations, the same can be said for any other architectural style-building match. Identify what is and isn't timeless and in what context. Try building a hut in rococo, and you'll get what I mean. So there that's how you defeat 20 year trend ageing in construction, which by the way, is a much longer time frame for something to fall out of market favour than with cars, or worse yet, telephones these days. If you feel like your worldview has significantly changed by learning this keep in mind that you are still essentially right in your initial implicit assumption that the means to avoid making something that will be garbage by the time of the second homeowner are still extremely limited. I can count on my fingers how many architectural styles can solve this problem and that's nothing when there are hundreds of styles out there, and maybe half of them are still being used by developers who legitimately think they're going to turn a profit by hopping onto or inventing the newest trend that's going to keep the market in their favour forever.
Lol. Nick nailed that impression of Robert Bruno. Dude actually does kinda sound like that, no joke. th-cam.com/video/azy-Xxfnxvw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kb6i30quBJNm4MxA

He was pretty jacked when he played football in high school (maybe college too)
Extremely talented with his mouth muscles.
every new england man that is built like that is weirdly athletic, its a combination of dad, tard, and alcoholic strength
Nick is a man of many talents
He said he used to be a starter in varsity football
10:17 its a compound house from far cry 5 😂
I am driven insane by the sin of our fallen world.

The pleasure dom 2 with the stupid style would be nice home for a working class guy and his wife & 2 kids. not impressive but it'd work
If style changes so much that a house is outdated in 20 years, how the hell do you build anything that will last multiple generations?
Two words: van life
Either don't care or make something bland but presentable
