I remember that year. I didn't expect much cause we was poor but I was lucky enough to get a N64 with Mario we loved it I still have it and it still works and still play the thing. It's memories like that helps get me through now days my mom she passed but she did good surprised me for Christmas 🎄🎁
I worked at a Play Co. that Christmas, those Elmos were the worst when they were in stock. Nintendo would only ship 2-3 copies of any game at a time. The shelves were full of Sega Saturn games. Couldn't give'em away.
@@zolphar if I could travel back in time to Christamas '96, i'd just like to spend it with my dad. I picked up most of the Saturn games I wanted during the sell off the following spring. Never could find Panzer in the wild tho.
@@NOTB666-p7v Well at the time, the N64 was in limited supply. We would usually get just 1-2 copies of any game from Nintendo, and we'd get the chance to choose before displaying them for sale. As for Elmo toys, it was after Christmas when the real fun began. The restocks were crazy, taking up an entire section of the store. Imagine an entire aisle overflowing with this year’s must-have toy. But instead of buying, folks would come in just to play puppet master, activating every Elmo, turning the store into an uproarious chorus of giggles and shouts. Over and over again. The craziest thing I saw involved Beanie Babies. I distinctly recall intervening between two elderly women arguing over one, just two weeks before Christmas. Picture two old-school grannies, hairnets and all, squaring up, ready to duke it out over a rare plushie. I had to call the local police to escort them out.

I reserved my N64 from Toys R Us so I didn't compete with anyone. Picked it up Sept 26 1996 around there.

I love Nintendo 64 games! Super Mario 64 is one of my faves.
