    Be the first to comment:
    1. Would you use a system like this?
    2. If so how have you done this, or what tweeks have you used.
    3. Are there any glaring errors in my video.
Thanks for watching, please subscribe and hit that little bell!!!

What scale/gauge are you using? I'm interested in how you get the tags near enough to the reader to be read. Every time I've tried, on 00 gauge, the tags are too far away from the reader to be detected.

I am using 1:87. The installing of readers and tags is still a work in progress with me too. I will be exploring more options in the future.

I've been interested in the idea of RFID for wagons, locos, or sets since seeing McKinley Railway using them a few years ago, for the purposes of train automation (especially routing and location detection) on future layouts. Curious to see where this project goes.

I have been looking at a RFID system for my layout to identify trains arriving at stations, so this is great video for me. So far just a simple RC522 reader being used, But i was having issues with how to have multiple tags stored which you have solved for me. It is possible to get a copy of your sketch Please? also I can't get your website link to work, I'm using firefox in Australia. Love you Videos. Thanks Tony

I've thought about pcbway to do a small number of circuit boards. I don't have a circuit board drawn up, which they seem to want, but I do have 3D prints drawn up in files they except. Putting a simple bracket up for just one they want to charge me $23.15, and that is just the subtotal, when it cost me $1.25 with 2 hours and 47 minutes of print time. Setup time is almost nothing, and printing two is just telling the printer to do so. Printing 2 is 24 cents short of double the price, when the single cost is insane. Double is ridiculous.

Perhaps reach out to them about the pricing. They are receptive. What medium do you want them to print in? I got a box printed that cost 1/2 this bracket in blue pla. I am not sure you can compare a commercial print to a home print. I have got a filament printer and resin printers both very good, but still not to the quality. It really depends what you want? Can I suggest you watch this video how a print farm breaks down their costs. th-cam.com/video/5koU93oZVC0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Z0T9glRe8_FwVyh7 . This is a cottage based business and how he charges $55 for a $5 part., it’s a great video breaking down the costs etc.
      Thanks for reaching out.

@@ModelRailroadTechniques Thanks for your input. I think you can compare, when it cost twice as much to do the second one, and doing 10 is just over $200. It doesn't cost that much in filament or time to do more than one, and you would think they would be more efficient at doing multiple prints than I ever could be.
To give you an idea. This is a bracket that holds 2 ice cream containers for Talenti ice cream to organize things and parts. You just slide the container into the bracket under a self. It's a large print made from PETG, but not that complicated.
What I want is a circuit board for a block system I designed. I personally need 3, and foresee the possibility of making more. If their pricing is even half, and charge double for the second, then that is too much. My cost with these is just under $6, board 4 sensors and all ready to hook up. I am not looking to have them beet that price, but at least be reasonable.
I used what I knew, 3D prints, to judge their pricing. Even at half for more than one it is way too much, so their printed circuit boards are probably way too much as well.
      Nice video on the tags.

@@lesliesavage9229 that’s for your input. I have a video on PCBs coming up in the future. I go thru their website and order some. I will be making a loconet splitter

@@ModelRailroadTechniques I use to print them myself. I haven't looked at anything recently, because I don't have that many to print, as of yet.
