I am highly impressed. It is so good to watch moldboard ploughing in action. I love both the tractors and the plows. I only wish that the tractors can 'roll a little coal.' Yes I am old school. I would not have known about the vast farming areas of your New York state if not for your videos. Looking forward to your future videos. Thanks for showing. Yours truly, Brian from London Ontario.
A properly tuned diesel engine will not below out black smoke unless it's over loaded. That would be hard on the engine, the transmission and the final drives.
Yea I was excited to find it! This local area has several farms that moldboard plow. I think it has to do with the soil types in that area and the unique climate of the Finger Lakes region of NY. Don’t see much plowing in other areas other than organic farms.
Love watching, hate doing...My neck and back aching just watching them 😂. Beautiful outfits. Same guy that had that you rode in the combine with? A lot of plow for that 8430.
@@tractorchasers😂. I will say also, those salfords do a beautiful job rolling ground under. Back when we had bought our Kverneland, that we ended up not liking, I wished we had looked at the Salford.
@@stirv6462when we bought it new, I loved it…for about 5 years. Then it started doing a crappy job turning the ground over evenly no matter how I adjusted it. Constant overall expensive maintenance…coulter bearings light and cheap constantly going, so I took them off. I hated the way it turned in and outta the furrow at headlands..no matter how ya did it, you’re always fighting it to remain straight at the ends. Frogs easily broke with our rocky conditions. Towards the end of owning the plow, We bought A new John Deere 714 mulch tiller & once I figured out what joy it was not putting in dead furrows only to have to find them the next year to backfill them, and the joy of not having to plow a headland one way…we never looked back & then sold it. We actually now have switched over to some no-till, strip-till and min-till (vt corn stalks, then drill soybeans)
@@EDBZ28 i agree. Have a 14 bottom salford I rarely use but I enjoy plowing for some reason. Got a 950 rubin 12 this year that is wonderful and we also have a 714 that does a fine job. Brother has a dominator that is ok. Plowing just makes it too soft, sink to China the next year and it's unnecessary but maybe breaks the disease cycle? I thought kverneland was supposed to be the best plow made but all that foreign stuff is so expensive to maintain
Looks nice and sandy the full length of the furrow, sand plows nice and straight;) when we plowed around here the ground varied from sand to gumbo in the same pass, crooked furrows were common.
In europe, 90% of ploughs are turn over, furrows top and bottom. this is a poor way to plough, plough in the front hits a rock, or a breakage, when he stops, tractor behind also has to stop, niether plough is set up the same, residue isnt getting buried as it should be.
Maybe a Lemken would do a better job but in the end it doesn't matter all that much. They'll field cultivate it twice next spring and it'll be smooth and plenty black.
That is a great question. I’m not sure on the cost but they are usually used instead of tracks. They’re much less expensive than a tracked machine and give similar flotation. This farm is in the Finger Lakes region of NY.
@@Sarah-j8c5g Hi cupcake, obviously you don't know anything about flotation. Those wide tires have less compaction than if the tractor was using duels. PS. I grew up on a farm and retired from running heavy equipment.

Thanks for the nice comment! I agree it makes plowing even cooler when there’s some black smoke! 😁

Wonderful work I like the 12 foro plough
Those LSW tires almost seem cartoonish in size but are super mesmerizing watching them roll across the field 👍👍
good soil, easy to plow
Excellent video once again TC 👍👍👍
The tractor with the LSW tyres looks cool as...
Thank you for bringing moments of entertainment
That is something you don’t see know days .
Those tires are awesome 👏🏽
No crap
Unusual to see moldboard plowing today - most farms are practicing some type of conservation tillage. - Doug in Iowa 🚜🌽🥩🇺🇸

Yup same farm that had the LSW tires on the combine a few videos back. You can watch from the comfort of your own home 😂

What didnt you like about your kverneland? Didnt cover well or built poorly? I think deere used kverneland bottoms on their 3710. @@EDBZ28

This field was plowing up like a dream. They didn’t want to stop to start combining that day 😂
I love how the 8430 sounds.
Yea it was cool to listen to! The way a tractor should sound!
Not every ur they do this when they get a wet fall is the best time bc it help start that break down helps the soil 100%
Love watching your video, so relax

@tractorchasers Lived on a dairy farm in Amsterdam NY and Richfield Springs NY.
Great 👍
c'est quoi la dimension des pneus du john deere 9460r?
1400/30R-46 tires which are 53 inches wide.
I would like to know more about those LSW tires.
I would like to do a full video on them at some point. Thanks for watching!
@ if he’s plowing in 30” rows, those tires looks m to be 40”!
@@formerfarmer1718 they are 53" wide, which is crazy!
@ 😳
Guess if there were such a thing as too much traction, this would be it!
Hey everyone great vidéo and love the 9r and tire and love the 8430 and awesome sound from 8430 love the sound
The 9R have a poor sound.
I think it looks terrible, uneven with the stumps and straw sticking up everywhere. Not the way it should be done.
Ok, what should they do to fix that?
Says the commenter that doesn't have a clue.
I would never put those fat tires on a tractor way to much compaction
Your comment makes now sense.
@oscaracme open up your ears I'm tryna tell you something, those fat tires make to much compaction what part of that don't you understand skippy?
@@Sarah-j8c5g Hi cupcake, obviously you don't know anything about flotation. Those wide tires have less compaction than if the tractor was using duels. PS. I grew up on a farm and retired from running heavy equipment.
@@Sarah-j8c5g Fat tires REDUCE compaction. More square inches of tires in contact with soil equals less pounds per square inch. (PSI = compaction.)
Key board farmer has no idea about compaction
See very little plowing in our area anymore, way to much erosion for us.
