They are not that rare. There's nearly 14,000 on the DVLA database, and the majority are mark 2 😅 The trouble is very few are on the road, 11,300 😱 A lot more will be scrapped in the next 5 - 10 years, many will be in better condition. That said, I'm not saying this one shouldn't be saved 👍
@@deanosaur808 Considering 1.3 Million Sierras were made, that means 0.86% of them are are left on the road. I'd hate to know how much of the 99.14% are scrapped and gone forever :(
@jellymouldgta my father crashed his. It was a 1989 1.8 ghia. I missed that car, he didn't. The carburetor had to be serviced too often. Now he is at his second diesel citroen and he wouldn't look back

It is not clear why the previous owner preferred to install an external tachometer by drilling holes in the dashboard, instead of repairing the original one. Thanks for the video!
You came up on my suggested because TH-cam guessed I needed to see a Ford Sierra being resurrected. Honestly blown away. I used to watch a relative of mine tinker with cars when I was a little girl, this just brought back so many happy memories for me. Thank you and thank you for giving this old car a chance.

Great rescue - The Sierra was a great car - a buddy of mine had one of the last ones a 93 2.0 Sapphire and had it for years - should have held on to her as she is now vintage ! Rot got a lot of them and any survivors are crazy prices ! Well done great video @

@@Flexiny i am from south africa member of the south african police... When i was in police training the instructors used to fool around with the xr8 at night keep us awake... I dont know if it was in Africa only... But that car was a beast... Eventually the instructors tails were cut short the vehicle was taken away after 2 months😂😂👍👍
It's nice to see how at first, it didn't really want to run, made noises, cough etc. and after some warming up it really started to get into its old form again :) Very satisfying

Hard to kill those "Pinto" style engines. My little Ranger is still going strong! Never had a single issue since it was brand-new 24 years ago. People knock on the Pinto's. It wasn't the engine that was junk. It was the transmission, and the rest of the car that was. Without said, the fit and finish on those are still better than most of the cars being built today XD
This brings back memories of my dad's red Sierra from when I was little lad. I used to call it haunted because it had some electrical issue and whenever you would steer to the right e.g going round a roundabout it would trigger the central locking and lock the doors and turn on the interior cabin lights too! 😂 Thanks for the vid! You gotta get this thing looking new again. It deserves it, awesome car!

I drive an Argentinian 1992 Sierra Ghia SX with the Ford Taunus 2.3L engine as my daily. It has some problems but it´s such a cool and nice car. We´ve been partners since 2012 and I have no plans on buying a newer car

I liked it very much, I played with it but I didn't know what it was, only when I was 18 I remembered and discovered it. I really like this car in red too. Good job. It's just that now, you have to do the hardest task : dismantle each and every part and component, up to the latest screw, clean, derust, repaint, replace, starting with each and every rubber made part (fuel and aur tubes, screen wipers, door and window joints), buy a truck load of new parts and in a few years you can have a more or less new Sierra.
Awesome place where to put an ECU, thumbs up for Ford engineers back in those days . Even if its hurricane outside you can still change your ECU and dont need to step out of the car :D
These were great. The most affordable of the "sporty" Sierras. I had a lovely white one in the mid 1990's that unfortunately got stolen and then burned out
Wish we had these in the US. I used to have an ‘87 Ford Tempo sedan. Was light blue with a navy blue interior. Sold it around 8 years later for more more than I bought it for. It’s still on the road, but someone hit the current owner in a parking lot when he was gone, so there is some cosmetic damage on a front corner.
I love this channel, would love to see a Camry revival, standard, 4wd or even V6 GXi They are rare and forgotten, and also my passion as i restore them as a hobby.
You can still buy Pinto engines today, the LRG-425 is the 2.5 litre "Lima" version of the Pinto, custom cam shaft, uprated injection and you got a real street sleeper.
Oh i really love ford sierras. My great grandfather had a 1986 which he bought brand new an only drive 90.000 KMs with it(yes I know they turn over after 99.999 but his never did😍

I am the owner of 2 Sierra, a turbo diesel station wagon and a Cosworth and these are cars that deserve to be saved as great cars. Nice jobs!!!

Same as the Cowsorth but without the turbos. First used in the solid old Cortinas, these tried-and-tested motors are very bulletproof.

You can still buy Pinto engines today, the LRG-425 is the 2.5 litre "Lima" version of the Pinto, custom cam shaft, uprated injection and you got a real street sleeper.
Oh i really love ford sierras. My great grandfather had a 1986 which he bought brand new an only drive 90.000 KMs with it(yes I know they turn over after 99.999 but his never did😍

My dad used to have 1.8 turbo diesel. A very good car. Did over 300,000 miles. Was very sad when it went.
Awesome 👌 Good old Sierra, definitely a one worth saving... especially being the 2.0i S version!! Very rare!! The later pinto with the stronger 205 block and much better head for the injection!! Amazing what a machine polish will do 👍 and off down the rally stage.. Excellent!!
