Hi Erum, Mandar here...i am a postgraduate architect with 12 years of experience and will turn 39 this September. I had plans to immigrate to Australia but lost most of my savings for treating my dad from cancer. He is cancer free now and i am need of a high paying job. I currently earn upto 1lakh and based in Mumbai India. I also have done my M Arch from university of Nottingham. Madam, HR managers like you reject people above 40 without even reading their resumes. Now what is happening in Gulf countries. Young people between 21 and 30 are hired more.. They resign when they get other good jobs.. They have no experience.
I joined the indian army at the age of 20 and served for 20 years. Then I applied for the job of security guard and super visor in Dubai. The hr manager was a lady and they gave the job to a fresher without even looking at the resume.
20 out of 22 security workers left the place in 3 months. Because they saw this job as a temporary center to try other jobs from there. No one who is educated will stay in the security field. If I was, I would have done 10 years.. Such a decision was made in the company meeting and is still being made. Can they be called intellectuals who give priority to the young blood who lacks maturity and experience in this field? I came home and the manager lady called me 3 times.
Good salary was offered.But I didn't go and gave up gulfdream..this is what is happening now.
I can understand. AGE plays a big role. UAE wants youth. That's why I don't suggest 40 plus to keep high hopes.
You experienced and accepted the fact but many other have financial issues and the don't give up.

The worst thing about these middle east countries including UAE is they look down upon us specially from Indian Sub Continent and surrounding plus even u spend ur whole life, like my father spent 38 years in Saudi Arabia and after that our whole family had to come back to Pakistan and started from scratch. SO ALL MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS, PLEASE STAY IN YOUR COUNTRY WHERE U HAVE FRREDOM, some one said it right, "dur ke dhol suhane"
