Yeees! Love Crypta so much. Saw them live back in February and they were incredible. This song in particular was really fun. They're all absolute beasts on their instruments, and Fernanda's vocals are top teir. They're lyrics are all really good too. So glad you enjoyed this! Hope you check out the rest of the album, it was one of my favorites from last year.
They're a fun band. Like most death metal bands from Brazil, they are very retro and 90s and my nostalgia bone can't do anything to resist that. They're possibly the best thing to come out of the Napalm catalogue currently.
Thanks for reacting it!Crypta are a strong promise for representing Brazilian heavy music now.And band have got a powerful demonstration to be.They have toured around the globe scheduling at important events to show the power of fire from them.I believe that,an international prestigious and recognize like Sepultura did achieve would never be happening, but it is the better that Brazil has released and exportation to the world, for now.I'm looking forward to watching the next chapter in their tragetory.
I love Crypta!! If you want some more uplifting heavy stuff check out High Spirits by Conjurer & Pijn. Love the variety of stuff you take the time to review
You definitely should hear the whole album. It’s banger after banger. There isn’t a bad song on it. “Stronghold” and “Lullaby for the Forsaken” are my favorites. 🤘🏼 Edit: “The Outsider” is my least favorite song on the album lol.
I kind of get what you're saying about Crypta's discography so far. I really liked their first album, but it felt like a band indulging their admiration for other bands. Nothing really jumped out at me to say "this is who we are!", not like Nervosa did. But this second album really feels like the band has come into their own. And maybe that's because the lineup has solidified. Everyone really seems to gel in terms of personalities, values and artistic interests. I feel like the first album was Crypta asking, "Can we do this band thing?", And the second album is them saying "Fk yeah! We just did it!". And it's interesting that in the latest album, you can hear their musical influences (e.g. Death, Morbid Angel etc.) in the expression, but it's still 100% their own, which is an interesting comparison to the first album.
I was thinking you might enjoy at least some aspects of them/this song. Your reaction exceeds my hopes though 🙂 I just love their groovy heaviness(!) with more than one exciting trick upp their sleeves added. About your enjoyment of the guitar solos, I do think it's partly a compositional thing - very tasteful stuff! Also, it's the execution. There's such a great feel in the playing. About the lyrical style vs the common style of death metal lyrics, I do think you have more of a black metal attitude in mind when comparing. As I understand it, death metal lyrics are usually more like very brutal scary stories while black metal lyrics are more philosophical/spiritual in a very dark way (nihilism etc). But I'm not much of a lyrics guy.... Finally, I do hope you'll get to listening to the full album. I had a really tough time deciding on which track to suggest for the poll.... If you enjoyed this so much, there might be a good chance you'll enjoy some other stuff from it even more... And who knows, you might even want to give their other one, Echoes of the Soul, a chance (but I'd start/continue with Shades of Sorrow) Great analysis as usual my friend!
Check out Thorns of the Carrion - The Scarlet Tapestry. It’s Gothic, Death/Doom, Funeral Doom, Neoclassical Darkwave, and Dark Folk all in one. Super slow and somber sounding with plenty of flute, violin, and synth work. Almost romantic in a weird way. If you want a song to check out first, check out Tears for the Raven Muse.
This one's my second favorite track on an album FULL of bangers. (Stronghold is my personal favorite.)
same here

These gals just write good music. The rest is icing.
You should try Seeds by Exotic Animal Petting Zoo
Great band!
The 'good' black metal* - *still not for me.
