I truly appreciate the remarks, especially given the source. I have spent hours admiring your channel; even taking time to check out your genuinely fantastic art. You have a seriously disproportionate amount of talent Jeffrey.
@@LaurentSault super kind words Laurent . . . means so very much from a skilled creator as you!!! keep in touch and all the best to you and your music .. . Jeff
00:37 - Delightful tangent 01:25 - Satisfying variation to the main theme 02:20 - Rewarding payoff with that chord change Overall an accomplished Polonaise that more than exceeds its intentions
I think my intentions, given it was my first attempt at this particular type of composition, was to simply stay faithful to what the Polonaise fundamentally represents. Providing I’ve done that, I’m very happy indeed.
I appreciate the praise but the likes of Artem Gareev, Meliton Soupelin, Andy Zhan, Sebastien Skaf, Daniel Ciobanu and GhostlyPiano44 are astoundingly brilliant and are each huge inspirations for me. We’re just blessed to have such a hugely talented roster of composers who are still creating this brand of music.
I have always loved the polonaise and yours is very typical of why. This feels like the melody is practically bursting free from the rigid, rhythmic form of the traditional Polish dance. A sterling effort.
That’s such an interesting analysis. Yes, I wanted it to be both tethered to the format whilst still expressive and filled with harmonic freedom. Hopefully I achieved something close to that.
I do love when I hear that done in a piece. In retrospect, I feel it could have really worked here. Great suggestion Yuki - you certainly have a wonderful ear for this sort of thing.
I felt there were a few moments where this piece struggles a little, almost as if the music isn’t quite sure where it’s going. But in terms of the melodic and harmonic themes, it’s brilliant Laurent. It just feels a bit unfinished is all. Maybe this won’t be the final version?
Who knows? I don’t have that nagging feeling with this that normally comes with my compositions - that certain elements are not quite correct. I don’t think I’ll be returning to this one anytime soon - another Polonaise would be more likely. I appreciate your constructive thoughts nonetheless and thank you so much for listening.
Hey Laurent I have noticed your compositions have become increasingly improvisational and formless, at least in terms of how they appear to the listener. Is this a temporary deviation from your more structured approach? And second question - can we get some Mazurka's on this channel? Your valses are my favourite and I'd love some more lighter, more dancy numbers.
Some good questions KC. Firstly you are correct in that I have attempted to try something a little less structured and a little more free flowing. My brain struggles with improvisational pieces so it's certainly challenging but I'm relatively pleased with some of the results. That said, I would certainly like to return to a few more regimented, classical pieces soon. I feel it suits me far better. As for your request, I think I can make it happen. I have tried before but every time I attempt a mazurka it becomes a waltz. I really need to focus on those accents a lot more.
Great job. It has a triumphant vibe to it
Is it too on the nose to call this "Triumphant Polonaise"?
Another instant classic
Thank you Jonas. I’m quite pleased with it.
Wonderful ❤ i love This Intelligence piece ❤ very Good Job … you work so precisely ❤
@@pianowingman Thank you so much once again - I’m tremendously privileged to have you not only listen but enjoy this piece.
Chips with Polonaise and Sault, please!
Loved it, great job Laurent
@@DannPiano Appreciate the comments Dann, thank you so much.
This is like if Chopin's Heroic and Military Polonaise's had a child
So it's either impressive or derivative? I jest of course, thank you so much for the lovely compliment.
I was not expecting a polonaise from you but I could not be more impressed with this attempt.
@@John-Hollis Huge praise John. Thank you my friend.
Outstanding original!!! Bravo Laurent…. Respect for your mad skills….Thanks for sharing…jeff

Beautiful music once again ❤
Thank you so much for listening Rhiannon, it means a lot to me.
Professional Level Composition! 😊
Inspiring! What a lovely piece.
Thank you kindly Lars, I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
Congratulations on your first Polonaise Laurent! 🎉🥳
Hopefully not my last…

Any tips on learning counterpoint?
The most “Chopin” of all your works… for a second there I closed my eyes and could have sworn I was hearing Frédéric himself!
@@MaitaMichi It seems an unforgivable offence to even breath out two names in the same sentence but thank you anyway Maita.
I really wish you worked on longer pieces. This was so good and I demand more of it!
If I can find the right piece I’d be more than happy to attempt something a little more ambitious. I just really like this length of composition.
I’m following a lot of TH-cam composers but you are certainly amongst the best.

A very well written and mature piece of music 🎶🎵
Bless you Ayanda 🙏

Could make a section where the upper rythmic melody becomes the accompainment and you add some sort of upper counter point
I do love when I hear that done in a piece. In retrospect, I feel it could have really worked here. Great suggestion Yuki - you certainly have a wonderful ear for this sort of thing.
He shoots, he scores 👏
That...was a goal
Your compositions always have such rich and harmonious foundations but this in particular shines in that regard ♥
I wish I could say it’s a targeted intention of mine but I’m largely just working towards what sounds right. Thank you again Kira, much appreciated.
When do you think you will produce some sheets for these? I would really like to give this a go.
