I moved to FL in 2017, I lived in PA 60+ years. I stumbled on your channel and have been enjoying your videos. I haven't gotten to come home in 2 years to visit family. In 2019 a health issue and then in 2020 this horrible pandemic prevent me from traveling home to PA. Your videos make me realize how much I miss PA. I love the warm weather here in FL; but, I miss the rolling hills of PA. I don't miss the snowy and dreary winters in PA, though. We lived about 25 miles from Hawk Mountain and we visited there many times. Thanks for another great video of my home state of PA.
@5:20 Did you do a vid on the River of Rocks trail? 😑😐😎 How many times does in nature does that happen in america?😎 Years ago you did a vid. on something like that! Thats why I'm asking! I wish you had a hawk or eagle in your vid.😎😁👍
Like you I just love Autumn, the colours are just gorgeous. Liked your new friend she was so cute. Those overlooks are just gorgeous, what a view. Thanks for taking me along and p,ease stay safe and take care
beautiful overlooks! Hope you keep taking us on color tours once your colors peak. Here in MI we're at peak , close to the downside of it. I have more color around me than I've ever seen. Just love fall!
Hi Cliff, just breathtaking beauty!! Fall is one of the most wonderful times of the year. Those views are stunning. Thank you so very much! Hope all is well with you. Take good care.🥰
Thank you for a walk down memory lane for me. The last time that I was there was back in the early 80's when I took my mom and dad who was fighting leukemia at the time there. (He was in remission when we went). We had to stop a lot but we made it to all of the outlooks and saw a lot of hawks. If I remember it correctly it was late September and most of what we saw were Broad Wing hawks kettling above and in front of us. Lots of other hawks too and I saw my first eagle there on a trip about a year earlier. Still a beautiful area and well worth the current cost to hike up to the lookouts. 👍👍👍
Not yet peak foliage, but beautiful nonetheless. There are a few federal migratory bird banding stations northeast up the ridge (near Lehigh gap and wind gap). They trap and band birds to track migration patterns. While hiking, if you discover a small “hut” structure with one-way mirrors for viewing, its likely a federal banding station.
Beautiful! It's been many years since I've been to Hawk Mountain. When you first started walking that trail and got to South Lookout, I was like....Wait, I distinctly remember climbing up on rocks and over rocks and rocks everywhere. Then you got to North Lookout - that must have been where I was. Not sure I could stand out on the rocks anymore, but it sure is beautiful! I think when I was there last, you didn't have to pay. Must have been a long time ago. lol Anyway, thanks for taking us along with you!
Thank you from Pottsville, formally of east Reading ,Pa,haven’t been out much, like many Thank you for taking us with ,the most recent ride to my daughter ‘s house the colors wer so spectacular,I’m an artist and was so inspired ,miss these casual hikes /walks
Hey I am wondering have you ever been to the Ned Smith center? It is fine tribute to one of Pa. Great wildlife artist. Check out the trails. Beautiful this time of year. I collect Ned Smith artwork. My dad got me started on that. I also colllect Dan Christ artwork.
Cynthia My brother was affiliated with Ned Smith back in the day. I forget if it was through a friendship or through the game commission. My brother also did wildlife art.
I might try to talk my husband into a day trip to Jim Thorpe, PA with the kids. I went with a friend last year in December and they had a professional baker set up outside the train station selling raspberry Linzer hearts, tiramisu, and canollis along with other fancy treats. They were so good. I hope they come back.
@Darlene Jones: I used the site search function, just used the word "dogs" and found this: www.hawkmountain.org/visit/visiting-info/rules-regulations No pets including small pets on leashes. You can walk your leashed pet on the Appalachian Trail, only 1 1/2 miles east of the visitors center on Hawk Mountain Rd. Look for the AT sign on the side of the road.
Hey wandering woodsman you should come to williamstown pennsylvania. 17098 Theres a cool spot in the mountains near the firehouse where you can find real fossils. I was up there a few days ago and managed to fine plant fossils, and a milipede like creature fossil. If you do come maybe i can show you around. Its a really nice spot
I used to go to school near here. We went here on a field trip in grade school. (This was the mid 90’s.) it’s a beautiful area. I lived in the Lehigh valley until I I was 27, n moved to nyc.
I know your videos are back logged. So this might be long past. But in this video it seemed like something was bothering you or you are distracted with something. If so, I hope you are doing well. If not, I apologise for misreading. Love your videos and for taking us on your hikes.
The seventies eighties and nineties we had a huge cabin up there. 2 story stone cabin 3 big fireplaces. And talking about the side of the mountain that you can live there. A friend of the family still has a big lodge up there. We have a lot of properties we sold over the decades beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful. The Appalachian trail when break from my family's property we have 13 acres. And of course we had other properties we sold on the side
And now instead of shooting them, we twapp them with the teeth of Don Quixote's dragons. PS: My 6 year old does the skyline and still mocks me for telling her to be careful😴
