- Hellooo! We are back with another reaction video and in this one Esosa will be diving into unfamiliar waters again with the aid of Özlem as her personal lifeguard! We dove right into the coolest 'concept' in K-pop right now: NCT! We loved the songs, how different yet refreshing they were and HIGHLY addictive! NCT 2020 has 23 members devided into 4 main sub units NCT 127 (Seoul based), WayV (Chinese sub unit), NCT Dream (the youngest members), NCT U (rotational unit, different line up for different song).
This is their 2nd album as a whole group. The 1st was NCT 2018 with 18 members. They had a performance MV with whole members called NCT 2018 - Black on Black.
The youngest member is Jisung born in 2002 but he's not in both MAW and Misfit unit. All members in those 2 units are above 19 yo. NCT added 2 new members in this comeback, they are Shotaro (00 liner, Japanese, in MAW) and Shungchan (01 liner, Korean, in Misfit). The 3 other members that were not in NCT 2018 are WayV members that debuted in 2019 (Hendery, Yangyang, XiaoJun).

Two of the members in the Make A Wish MV are in SuperM. Taeyong (the leader of all 23 members of NCT) and Lucas.
In Misfit track video, Taeyong and Mark are featured and they’re both members of SuperM also. Taeyong is the one with the glasses, and Mark with the orange hair.

Yes, the "Make a Wish" song and video is abit naughty and seductive. My favorite parts is Doyoung and Xiaojun's sexy lyrics in that song, along with of course, the HOT body rolls, especially when the video slows down the body rolls movements during the second verse, now that is pure HEAT!!!! I always repeat those scenes whenever I watch the video. And, Jaehyun's voice is so soulful and deep sounding in this song, his singing is incredible, he definitely has a Rhythm and Blues flavor to his singing that really touches my spirit. Shotaro is such a refreshing addition to NCT. His dancing is awesome and fun to watch. I like seeing the sweetness and pure happiness on his face, when I watch Shotaro dance. He is an excellent addition to the groups' choreography. And, I love his name, it sounds very powerful!! The visuals have a psychedelic vibe and feel to it. I really enjoy the "Make a Wish" video and song. And, the "Misfit" rap and video is pretty good. I like Mark's flow throughout that song. He is an amazing rapper and I enjoy seeing him mature as his rapping skills get stronger and stronger. Also, Mark's precision is on point in all his raps, that's what gets my attention, and his rapid flow stands above the other rappers, in my opinion. Anyway, good reaction Ladies. They’re SM group (same with EXO, Shinee, SuperM). NCT stands for Neo Culture Technology and that represents everything in their music, choreo, visuals, style. Currently has 23 members (not 25, not yet lmao).
They have a very distinctive & unique sounds, vibes I personally found extremely oddly pleasing.
Some people used to call their sound “NCT’s noises” because they’re eccentric, experimental, and sometimes not really familiar on ears the first time you listen to it. But when it grew on me, it lives in my mind rent free. Thats what caught me the most, to stan them.
They are the 3rd generation of Kpop and well known as one of the hardest in choreo.
And yes, they’re multitalented group/all rounder because they have some of the best rapper, vocals, dancers. Some take parts in writing the lyrics in their albums, and in their free time sometimes they “cook” some musics too.
They’ve already held concert around the world, NCT 127 even held their North America Tour. Appear in famous American TV Shows, etc.

NCT 127 is the first fixed unit in the whole NCT universe. 127 is the longitude of Seoul, represents the origin of KPop / hallyu movement. Currently they have 9 active members. NEO ZONE is their recent album, ITS A WHOLE BOP, please listen to every song and you’ll be surprised how many genres they can actually pull off!
Another sub unit are :
- NCT Dream (the youngest members line) : “Ridin”, “Boom”, “We Go Up”, “Go”, “My First and Last”, “Chewing Gum”. Currently they have 6 active members, Mark graduated from NCT Dream when he turned 20 but then rejoined again this year bcs SM decided to remove the graduation system.
- WayV (the chinese line) : “Moonwalk”, “Take-Off”, “Love Talk” and of course the newest banger “Turn Back Time” and “Bad Alive”. They have 7 members.
- NCT U (a project based group, so basically the members are just the mix of any sub-unit based on the concept of the song) : “7th Sense”, “Boss”, “Baby Don’t Stop”, and the ballads “Coming Home”, “No Longer”. The number of members depends on the song concept itself.
The best explanation I’ve seen so far goes like this :
Imagine NCT as Vogue Magazine. NCT 127 is Vogue Korea, NCT Dream is Vogue Teens, NCT U is Vogue Special Edition, WayV is Vogue China.
Many of the members are multi-lingual because some are from Canada, Chicago, Japan, Thailand, China, Hongkong, Macau, Taiwan, even Germany (cuz SM held global audition all over the world).
And btw you can’t do the reaction of whole NCT without “NCT 2018 Black on Black”, when all 18 members were in it back then, a join-project ^^ Just like NCT 2020.
Trust me you’ll eventually got their names and fall in love with all 23 of them, because they’re hella talented and chaos and extra and funny and adorable at the same time.
And about NCT 2020, their albums Resonance come in 2 part. The part one was already out, please listen to the whole album OMG it’s the most versatile album ever, we got a whole rap rock, hiphop, R&B, EDM, and even Jazz!!

Yes, there are 4 NCT members in SuperM and 2 of them are in MAKE A WISH: Taeyong and Lucas (the one you pointed out).
Yes, NCT U is the sub-unit where ANY number of performers from ANY of the total 23 (as of today) members from ANY of the sub-units can be mixed and matched depending on the need of the song i.e. how many rappers, how many tenors, etc. whereas, the other 3 (as of today) sub-units of NCT (NCT 127, NCT DREAM and WayV): although members “may” be added in future, they are still fixed sub-units. Therefore, one NCT U song might have only two performers while another song might have five...and so on.
The 127 sub-unit is based in Seoul.
The DREAM sub-unit represents the youngest.
The WayV sub-unit is based in China.
About half of them are in their mid to late twenties, the other half are early to mid twenties.
No don’t worry the flame scene in the MV did NOT represent satanic cult, the MV shows elements of the aladdin/genie concept (hence the song title MAKE A WISH).
While each sub-unit produces their own albums and being involved in their own activities, there is a supposedly “yearly” special projects where all members get together to perform/release an album. As another commenter mentioned, in 2018 “NCT 2018” released BLACK ON BLACK performance video where all (at the time there were only 18) members showcased their dance choreography together. NCT 2019 could not happen due to 127 sub-unit who went on their almost-year-long World Tour, and also because of SuperM promotions/US Tour. Now the long overdue, long awaited and long anticipated “NCT2020” is here with all 23 members releasing two parts albums - RESONANCE Part 1 came out just about two weeks ago and RESONANCE Part 2 will come out next month.
You just reacted to 2 songs from Part 1 album. They also make another MV from this same album called “FROM HOME”. This one features their smooth buttery vocal line, opposite to MISFIT which features their rap line.
Yes you got it right, it stands for Neo Culture Technology, which group concept and structure is the only one existed in the industry: having unlimited number of members spread across unlimited number of sub-units, to promote their songs and kpop from Seoul to the whole world. Their well known trademark is indeed having their own unique, sometimes-weird-at-first-yet-later-on-one-would-find-addictive sounds, beats and compositions.
And yes, the fandom is called NCTzens pronounced as N-citizens...as in, citizens of the “NCiTy”.
One of the sentimental and emotional point for NCTzens (both old and new) is the fact that they are able to watch NCT DREAM grow up before their eyes, which no other groups have ever experienced. If want to experience this, you may be interested in watching to/reacting to CHEWING GUM (the DREAM’s debut song when they were 16yo tiny teens) and then followed by their latest MV RIDIN’. CHEWING GUM is one of NCT’s most iconic song where so many kpop idols have jammed to it (cause warning: it’s addictive) and swooning over how cute the boys were before their very sudden and rapid growth spurts occurred about two years after.

The yearly special sounds super interesting. It’s unfortunate that it hasn’t happened but it’s not like they were sitting still or something. The way this is explained though, we wonder… when do the boys rest?
There was this program a few years ago “It’s dangerous beyond the blankets” and Mark got to “play” and “rest” with some other celebrities but basically it was still happening on camera. They seem to have extra schedules compared to other groups. Is this fair to say or does it just seems that way? Hopefully they get enough vacation time.

As you may already know, there are some cultures that may look “similar” in their practices due to many reasons such as being close in their geographical locations, factors attributed to influence (e.g. colonization of one country by the other in the past), historical significance, among others. After hundreds if not thousands of years, the difference may not be clear to the ‘outsiders’ while those who are natives to the land, the tribe, or those with fondness for learning about history would likely have more awareness. While, yes, this song’s concept that they are trying to portray is that of the story of aladdin/arabian nights/genie listening to your wish, all the elements they tried to manifest (ie flames, smoke, sparks, members dancing in their ‘hoodie costumes’ to prop up the ambience in sync with the beat and the music, etc) may certainly in the first glance look like there was some kind of satanic ritual going on...but is the title about that? No. Is the song talking about that? No. Have we ever seen real life members of that particular cult b-boying on a pedestal to a hip-hop music as part of their 'ritual'? No. Does any music group putting on their hoodie costumes for their MV, or even some random group of teenagers posting themselves having fun dancing to a heavy metal music on instagram automatically means they are performing some kind of satanic rituals? Surely no.
In light of a particular celebration that just passed, Halloween is an example where it originated as a Christian tradition to commemorate the dead, the “Feast of All Hallows' Eve”. Long story short, how is this feast now practiced worldwide? The name has evolved to Halloween and as we know, it is celebrated by house owners decorating their residences with spooky life-sized dolls, kids having fun with their parents going out to trick-or-treat, etc. It does not mean that if someone dresses up as a limping zombie it automatically means they practice satanism and that they must be an evil person...it was a tradition that is still to this day commemorated solemnly by Christians and to others it has been adopted and changed over a period of time into something festive and fun.
Another example is the longest colonization in the country of Indonesia by the Dutch in the 16th Century, for three and half centuries. Fast forward to today, one will be able to find words, jargons and some dishes that are influenced by the Dutch culture. Albeit a particular dish may be found in both countries and may have the same name, yet they are still two different countries with two very different cultures and norms (the dish itself might also be completely different in their tastes, using different ingredients and different method of cooking that has been adapted to each country's palate).
So no, lighting a bon fire and having some people in a hoodie coat dancing hip-hop in a circle does not exclusively represent satanic cult, nor was there any complaint I know about the flame. Fire actually has many symbolic "and holy/sacred" meaning in many religions and many cultures (for example, to the Native American tribes).
No, it was only NCT2019 project which could not be made possible. NCT2018 produced BLACK ON BLACK. And NCT2020 is happening right now with their first album released three weeks ago, and their part 2 album coming out in a few weeks. So this is the time that NCTzens are very excited about especially with all sub-units coming together again to be united.
With regards to the issue of rest: generally speaking, if an agent is doing right and taking on full responsibility of their artists, they would ensure a proper work-life balanced schedule is fully implemented and even enforced. Now personally speaking: since I am not their Program Manager, I would hope they are having plenty of rest especially Mark (you might have heard the inside fans' joke that when a new NCT sub-unit is created the first thing the manager would say is "hey Mark..." since he's almost in every sub-unit bar one). Not just idol agencies, but the artists themselves should be confident to voice out if and when they feel they are burning out, as well as their fellow members and their fans...to whom their hard work and music is dedicated to...need to unite and share that burden of responsibility to look after each other. Many idols' and celebrities' lives have "slipped through the crack" and lives lost because they felt they never had that back bone and support system they desperately needed. Many of these are also caused by today's culture of online bullying, those who like to troll on other people's messages whether celebrities or youtubers like yourselves or otherwise, who I still see all over the social media platform, to this day, spitting toxins in the comfort of their bedrooms behind their keyboards. In any case you're correct in that, while fans may be (innocently) feeling anxious to see new albums, new singles, new performances, behind the scenes we need to remember they're not just sitting around playing scrabble (even if they do, they would do so live to share the fun with the fans). I did observe many NCTzens have been fantastic in that, at every live interaction they do not fail to tell the boys to rest, to eat, to have enough sleep, to take a break from their hard work, and to tell them that they have done an excellent job.
Yes they have the most and the only unique group structure where they will just keep adding new members and creating new sub-units and who knows in ten years a quarter of South Korea population might be NCT members...
No problems with the song recommendations. As I mentioned, you might want to start with those couple of songs and if need more, just let me or your viewers know, someone is always there to quickly provide you with suggestions (I usually only step in when there might be questions asked by a youtube channel owner that hasn't been responded to by anyone). Subjectively their music is great and different so like that box of chocolate, you never know what you gonna get and if you like listening to non-standard music and broad genres as well as the standard ones, you will enjoy most of what you pick to listen/react to :))

Y'all should react to another track NCT did called NCT U - From Home. This one is just the vocal line together. The song is really good and brings me to tears every single time. I am partial to NCT 127, so I would recommend to watch NCT 127 - KICK IT, Regular (English Ver.), Punch and Cherry Bomb. As for the music video with all the members I believe its called BLACK ON BLACK. Y'all are really gonna love that one too. My bias is Mark and my bias wreckerssss are Johnny, Jaehyun and now Shotaro. But overall the whole unit is too good so in reality im an OT23 LMAO.
