We once found our then 2 year old grandaughter I the garden, having thought she was quiet, sitting, quietly chatting to sparrows. They were all on the Nationwide, coming to bathe and drink from a tiny birdbath and just Potter about almost close enough for her to touch. A beautiful sight!

Kind of surprised they weren't on this list but they are an early season species so maybe less seen by the survey time. There were a decent number of Orange Tips in the spring here but since then I've hardly seen any of the normal Peacocks, Red Admirals and Tortoiseshells. I have grown three big budleas in my fairly wild garden just for them . The flowers have started opening in the past ten days so here's hoping.
