Kan'Nal "Desert Flower"

- On a super 16mm camera, I filmed two Kan'Nal shows at the Bluebird Theatre, in 2007. Then, I shot one show at the Boulder Theatre, in 2008. I released a version of Desert Flower in 2009, but I had hoped for some additional footage taking the action away from the stage.
In 2009, I filmed Chelsea (the groovy super 8 woman in the film) at Red Rocks. This lent much more of a story to the film, because Chelsea actually filmed a portion of the Boulder Theatre show with a super 8 camera, and I thought it'd be more dynamic to use that footage with the new desert footage of her discovering the "Desert Flower," as she filmed the desert...it's all about deserts in this film, you know...and super 8!!
Lastly, I had always wanted to capture the band in a more natural element, and that chance finally came in 2010, when I filmed Teresita and Akayate at Red Rocks -- this last shoot provided Desert Flower with a deeper spiritual meaning...presenting the "gift of the Gods." from the Gods themselves...in this case, Goddesses!

Kan'Nal was the most amazingly mystic band I've ever seen in concert. I truly hope they DO wind up getting back together this year. They are sorely missed!

Saw this band what feels like 10 years ago in Asheville, NC at the Bele Chere Festival ... They were amazing and this sure takes me back ... Stopped us in our tracks that day - thanks for such an awesome job on this tune

2005 Tamarack Music Festival (CA)...they took me to another dimension and I haven't looked back since. All these years later and that show still feels like it happened last night. It was a pure blessing to stumble upon them.
Notwithstanding the incredible vibe of Kan'Nal, there is only one band I felt was more cosmic: The Grateful Dead. And to be a runner up of that legendary band is quite the endorsement =)

They still tour a little. Check out Lunar Fire, Tierro, and INTI -- most of the band members morphed into those bands...especially Lunar Fire.
