Lucia, I doubt you will ever read the comment section, but I just want you to know that when you finished, I clapped for you in my living room. As a teacher in a south London school, I felt every word and understood every sentence. You are a rarity.

I am too far away to qualify the topic but I would like to commend Ms Arce Cubas for, in my opinion, an excellent deliverance of her speech. Attn Toastmasters, here she comes as a future MP? I shall follow the rest of the conversation with great interest. Kind regards to you all YES/NOT from Vancouver Island.

One aspect I hated about uni was that so many people were admitted who were clearly sub-par academically according to the "guidelines," yet administration ignored this (taking bribes).

Everything Lucia said here is completely correct & was spoken brilliantly. If you disagree with anything said in this video, you must withdraw from your land of extreme privilege and delusion that is so far detached from the world of ordinary people and take time to educate yourself and be open minded about the reality of your privilege.

I very love these words "education is free for everyone" about private thing in the school must be looked an objection to ensure the interest in its school... Priviledge hears bad not... , Be wise to elaborate those willing ... 🌐🇬🇧❤️

Wow! I had no idea Oxbridge were so snotty nosed. I thought you worked on level of education. Now I know why "University Challenge" is so evenly spaced between the winners.

Seeing Lucia receive credit and praise for her progressive stance stings, because she is in reality a privileged upper class person who has used her power, connection and privileges to bully and marginalise less privileged people in the debating circuit at university and to elevate those of similar background to her. She only talks the talk in situations like this public debate where it can earn her clout - in reality she has been the oppressor of working class students and exploited the poverty of her country ( that she has not suffered from ) for her image.

how so? may you kindly share more details with me?

@@hoanganh995 I can't speak for this person but this was very much my experience with her too. She has exploited her image of a "third world woman of color" frequently but is in fact from a very wealthy family who have her all the opportunities in the world. That in and of itself is nauseating enough to me, but what I was particularly disgusted by is despite constantly talking about how racism affects her in debating, when racism became a problem at Cape Town WUDC, and black debaters were marginalised, she rushed to the defence of the CA team who completely dismissed these concerns and propagated the racism, because that CA team was full of her friends - more wealthy well-connected individuals.
She is a hypocrite and a bully. She is close friends with some absolutely horrible people who have consistently bullied, mocked and insulted others involved in the debating circuit and defended, liked, supported their behaviour.
She wants the credit by appearing giving speeches like these but she doesn't want to live it in practice because that's not convenient for her.
