Part of the reason that it didn't get any other SRW appearances was that the creator of the series died after this game was released, and the new owners of his estate jacked the liscencing price up too much for Banpresto to accept as part of the rest of the franchise. Given how well subsequent Giant Robo series has been received, I find this amusing.

Oh I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. ^^

So this means that giant robo has a higher price than testujin 28

Possibly! But it could also mean they learned their lesson and altered their pricing overall.

Tetsujin 28 (at least that crappy 80s version) requires them to pay just for Tetsujin.
This version of Giant Robo is also super-mega crossover with other author's work and new owners demand that Banpresto would pay for each of them (like Babel 2).
This version of Giant Robo probably costs as much as an entire cast of regular console SRW now.

Sounds like a fun fact to me. Marketing is very vital to the human community.

As petty as it sounds, it really gets my goat that we never got the story on how Seele related to Big Fire exactly.

*Sigh* Just finished the blu-ray of the Giant Robo OVA. WHY DIDN'T IT DO BETTER!? I WANT MORE!

      Check out Shin Mazinger Z

@@ElleRoni Alright have. It's really fun but Kouji doesn't feel much like the lead so it feels more like the Scary Mistress/Baron Ashura show. I watched classic Mazinger second and while it has its flaws Kouji is indeed the hero front and center. (Oh boy I wonder if Boss Borot and Aphrodite will get easily knocked aside by this week's robot!? That never gets old!)

I wonder if this game was in development while the series was still being produced (7 episodes over like 10 years something), hence why they left out Giant Robo's wild, full volley attacks seen in the series finale.

Unlikely. Alpha released in 2000, with the final episode of the Giant Robo OVA (of which there were seven) releasing in 1998. While it's likely Alpha was in development at the time, it was very *early* in development and not at the point where moves were finalized.
It could be they were limited on development time or were planning to save Giant Robo's ultimate moves for a future game, like how they were planning to include the series in Alpha 3. Which, unfortunately, didn't happen due to the sudden death of the creator, Mitsuteru Yokoyama, and the absolutely stupid licensing issues surrounding the OVA series.

train fan 4014 Cause that’s how their voices work when they’re giant. When they’re Miclones they have normal voices.

Sadly he doesn't appeared on SRW 30 even after 23 years after Alpha is released.
