Out of all the cats mourning Briarlight, I think that Jayfeather was grieving most of all. I really do think that Jayfeather and Briarlight had a special connection, which is why I love the ship.
And the fact that jay feather blamed himself for her death, knowing he had spread the stomach sickness to Briarlight. He felt both guilty and was grieving.
Even though Briarlight is younger, a cat in the wild wouldn’t be able to live a full life with that condition. A small bout of sickness has a high chance of wiping her out anyway. Don’t get me wrong, I love her as a character, but her life was quite long for such an injury.
@@tallishtomato True, but you do have to remember that she lived in an organized society that cared for her. Obviously, a cat in the wild alone with her injury would die in a matter of days, but Briarlight was cared for very well in the clan, so I'd say her lifespan was pretty accurate.
Let's be honest, Firestar's last life's final moments were disappointing. It would have been better if Firestar and Tigerstar died seconds apart from the battle wounds they got from their final 1v1 fight. It still wouldn't be anywhere near as heavy, but it would certainly be a lot more satisfying than what we actually got for the tom.
Heh, I agree. I cried with Firestar's death. But Briarlight's death seriously had me sobbing and I was sad about it for ages afterwards. Could be because I knew Firestar was going to die and Briarlight was completely unexpected :/

Jayfeather POOFED inside of Jay wing, and was able to see, and decided that Half Moon was kind and pretty, and she liked him. If Jayfeather saw Briarlight, he’d fallen in love with her again. briarlights expression at 0:33 perfectly encapsulates this whole thing. Just the way it shows her pitying herself over this, how she put on a brave face but now feels that she can let her guard down around JayFeather. Its so beautiful and Sorrel did amazing on this shot
Read before flaming or disliking I had never really liked Jayfeather throughout the books, I thought of him almost on the same level of Breezepelt. But when Briarpaw was introduced, I knew about the crippled situation. What I didn't expect was how she would change Jayfeather. When Jayfeather saw how, even in this horrible situation, Briarlight was laughing, and smiling, and being happy. He realized he could be happy, though he was blind. He began to be nicer to her, even going to ShadowClan to make _sure_ she didn't die at a young age. He kept her in his den though he could have been taking an apprentice, started letting kits into his den to play with Briarlight. She made him a happier person. He was tough on Alderpaw, and Briarlight told him off, and showed Jayfeather kindness, which made Alderpaw a better Medicine Cat. And when Briarlight died, Jayfeather was absolutely crushed. He blamed himself for her death, consistently putting himself down for a while. Then he opened his eyes, and stood past that. He knew Briarlight wouldn't want him to sulk around. She would want him to move on. So he did, he became Jayfeather again. This map is truly exceptional, each part showed how Jayfeather was moved by Briarlight, and the flower blooming in the den was a wonderful metaphor for Jayfeather's realization. Thank you, Colacat, this map absolutely moved me.

Every time I watch this I can’t control myself and end up crying till the end. The story of briarlight is both sad and happy, she suffered the most out of all the cats by the lake, yet even after the accident she was probably the most happy and optimistic cat in the series, and when she died you realize how much ones life can affect you.
Oh wow, so, I just cried and I mean that like not "Omg I'm crying" but an actual tear just slipped down my cheek and- I don't usually cry in maps, but it was so well done at 1:34 - no dramatic death just death itself, someone's there one moment and then gone the next; And that's powerful... This was such a great MAP :) Very well done
i used to love warriors but I stopped reading them, so I didn’t know Briarlight died and honestly, this made me cry... at the fact that she died & just how beautiful this map represents Jay x Briar’s relationship, and how she made him stronger ❤️

No one cares(mostly) about genetic relationships in a fictional kids book, and in this map, we only care about how amazing all the animators did portraying their relationship- as many people have said, Briarlight CHANGED Jayfeather to a better person/cat.
I've seen so many people complain because they don't ship these two and Jayfeather is in love with Halfmoon. I understand this but wanted to point out that when spotted leaf died she was happy for Firestar and Sandstorm, when Silverstream died she was happy for Graystripe and Millie, and when Feathertail died she was happy for Crowfeather and Leafpool. This just goes to show that the cats can have more than one mate and the other (dead) mate understands that it makes them happy. Just so cute!
i can't say i ever shipped them but i did appreciate their friendship so much. one of my favorite things about this map is that it can be enjoyed regardless of your opinion on them as a pairing. it's just so pretty and sad :')
I’m not a very sensitive person, but this map just hit me. I’m holding back tears. It really shows how she brought Jayfeather slowly out of his shell. And it affected him even after her death. It’s just a wonderful map and the animators did a terrific job. One of the best maps I’ve seen tbh. It’s such a calm, loving song. Amazing idea and map overall

This is so beautiful! I've always loved Jayfeather, he's always been one of my top favorite warrior cats characters. Sure, he was grumpy and salty at times, but Briarlight showed him how to open his heart and shew truly did make Jayfeather look past his blindless and see that despite his blindness, he was still an acceptional cat. This pmv truly does show how Jayfeather needed Briarlight, and how she needed him. The song fits both of them perfectly together and honestly made me love Jayfeather and Brialight a thousand times more
I liked Briarlight, but I never thought I would've cried so much when she died. More tears spilled when I realized that Briarlight was the one cat that made Jayfeather happy.

I saw a head cannon that Briarlight would describe the day to Jayfeather when she woke up, if it was foggy, sunny, snowy, how green the trees were, and Jayfeather enjoyed every bit of it. When she passed, Jayfeather would sit in the same spot he did when she described the day to him.

So, the Map was amazing not only because i ship Jayfeather and Briarlight, but they've been through so much together and alone.
There are times when the Erins just get all thekr shit together and give us genuinely beautiful writing. And yeah, most of the time it hurts like hell, but god I love them for it.
Haven't read warriors past the 4th series, so I had no idea that Briarlight died until i first saw this MAP a while ago. I keep rewatching this MAP- it's so beautifully done. Every single part is so well crafted and the script with the music choice is spectacular. This MAP never fails to make me cry. A huge thanks and brilliant job to everyone involved- this MAP is everything. 💝

I don’t ship them but, it’s really touching how Jayfeather knows how it’s like living with a disability and not able to succeed in being a warrior and is helping BriarLight because he went through the same thing. It really just sticks out to me at how tough their lives were and how they’re helping each other throughout the rest of their lives. 🥺🥺
This map is so BEAUTIFUL! But it breaks my heart that Briarlight is dead. It's sad because at the ending of the map is Briarlight's last few days because of her sickness, but at the end where Jayfeather joins the other cats to Briarlight's funeral that part was so heartwarming! :D
Personally I don't ship them, but I love their interactions in the books, this is probably one of the most wholesome relationships Jay has had outside of his own family
Even if you don't ship this relationship romantically, it's easy to appreciate it. Theres different kinds of love that someone can fall into, so even if you only ship them platonically, its easy to enjoy, and appreciate the video.

i've always shipped briarlight and jayfeather. they just bring out the best in each other. they also care very deeply for one another. like in river of fire, jayfeather couldn't finish his sentence because he was so overwhelmed and pained by losing briarlight. this map was truly perfect in everyway and no doubt makes me cry every time i watch it. wonderful job

I never really thought of these two as being in love, but I saw them as best friends. Loving someone isn't always the same as being in love with them, and that's what I saw with these two. They love eachother, but not relationship wise. They will do anything for eachother, make the other one happy, want only the best for them. Sadly I don't see the community do this kind of stuff, it's just mostly "oh they're friends so they must be in love". It's kind of how Mothwing and Leafpool are to me, they're just really good friends that care deeply for eachother. This map, to me at least, shows how much they care for eachother without being in love. Despite the song, it's a really good friendship map to me.
Eh, I like Mothpool alot. However with Jayfeather and Briarlight I just see as two people who care deeply for each other. This song with them just puts me in mind of two friends who stayed close to each other, then one leaves, and the other is heartbroken. But knows to move on with others around them.
It's just a song choice, my guy. :3 Maybe don't read too deep into it, because from my perspective (and also note that I don't know these characters or this fandom), it didn't look like any of the illustrations were flirty. Snuggling and spending a lot of time together is something I would do with any platonic friendship. And regardless if the creator did mean for this to be a ship, who really cares what their head-canon is. :3 Zero need to gatekeep or put it down.

As someone who had fallen off of the Warriors series, this was a devastatingly beautiful way to find out that Briarlight had died. When she faded from SaraXu's scene, I gasped. I didn't expect to have to hold back tears today! :(
What an amazing project! I honestly love this. The idea was so well planned out, the script was wonderfully written, everything was drawn so adorably and lovely. It brought me to tears. Briarlight and jayfeather deserved a lot more. They seemed like great friends aswell. You and your animators did a wonderful job and keep up the outstanding work!!
That could’ve happened, for all we know. I recently re read AVOS, jay and briar were left alone for long time while Alderheart rounded up the clan to say their final goodbyes.

Okay, so... I'm crying now. This is such a beautiful MAP, which also goes to show that true love comes in many forms. You can utterly cherish someone in friendship, willing to give up anything for them, no matter the cost. So whether fans see them as a couple, or simply friends, it doesn't matter! And this MAP demonstrates that so perfectly!
Honestly Jayfeather x Briarlight had better chemistry than Jayfeather x Halfmoon. Both Briarlight and Jayfeather helped inspire eachother and grow as an individual, this would literally be the only forbidden love relationship i wouldnt have minded❤️ but i like how their story went :))
The fact this map haves 2 disabled cats,Jay's blind and briar haves a disabled leg makes my heart melt bc this map shows everyone's diffrent in they're ways, Jay's a bit stoic and briar's sweet.
Oh my god, this is so beautiful. I am honestly crying rn. I never read much into the power of three arc or even past it and I’ve never met this character, but this is so wonderful. This map has so much emotion and effort into it and I adore everything in this. God I’m still crying over this.
A ship that I truly loved once again torn up by the natural causes of greencough/illness. I never liked Jayfeather x Stick or Jayfeather x Half moon because it just didn't seem right to me ever when I read the series. But when I was reading through the platonic relationship of Briarlight and Jayfeather, I honestly started to like Jayfeather more and this ship inspired me to look past flaws in myself and continue to live a normal life. But when Briarlight died, I cried myself to sleep. I'm happy that Jayfeather found the way to be able to see past his disability and open up more. I can't wait to see these two be reunited in Starclan one day. #Jaylight #Briarfeather
I don’t know if the authors did this intentionally, but when jayfeather was with half moon, it felt like it was a perfect reality for him that was only in his head. He acted completely differently around everyone, as if he was only grumpy because he was bitter about being blind. It makes the jayfeather x briarlight ship a lot more meaningful, since briarlight showed him that you can still be happy even if you aren’t exactly who you want to be. Briarlight also cared about him for who he really is, while half moon cared about jay's wing.

Such a good amv. Always makes me choke up. I find it so sad to see in the scene of the changing seasons and Briarlight passing away just how simply it happens, and how everything else moves on. She's there one moment, and then she's gone, but nothing stops. That's probably how it felt for Jayfeather as well. I’ve cried over many warriors deaths, but Briar’s and Gray Wing’s hit me the hardest. Like damn, they slammed us with that one.

i used to love warriors but I stopped reading them, so I didn’t know Briarlight died and honestly, this made me cry... at the fact that she died & just how beautiful this map represents Jay x Briar’s relationship, and how she made him stronger ❤️

Did it make you feel better after referring to another human being as “stupid”? No one cares(mostly) about genetic relationships in a fictional kids book, and in this map, we only care about how amazing all the animators did portraying their relationship- as many people have said, Briarlight CHANGED Jayfeather to a better person/cat.

I've seen so many people complain because they don't ship these two and Jayfeather is in love with Halfmoon. I understand this but wanted to point out that when spotted leaf died she was happy for Firestar and Sandstorm, when Silverstream died she was happy for Graystripe and Millie, and when Feathertail died she was happy for Crowfeather and Leafpool. This just goes to show that the cats can have more than one mate and the other (dead) mate understands that it makes them happy. Just so cute!
i can't say i ever shipped them but i did appreciate their friendship so much. one of my favorite things about this map is that it can be enjoyed regardless of your opinion on them as a pairing. it's just so pretty and sad :')

I’m not a very sensitive person, but this map just hit me. I’m holding back tears. It really shows how she brought Jayfeather slowly out of his shell. And it affected him even after her death. It’s just a wonderful map and the animators did a terrific job. One of the best maps I’ve seen tbh. It’s such a calm, loving song. Amazing idea and map overall
You don't even have to ship these two, this MAP still shows their relationship perfectly.
Guys if jayfeather gets a “seeing the ghost leave for starclan” moment id love it if a briarlight who is either healed or can move even with her injury leading him there smiling, laughing, and talking the whole way. 🌹💕❤️💕🐦

This is so beautiful! I've always loved Jayfeather, he's always been one of my top favorite warrior cats characters. Sure, he was grumpy and salty at times, but Briarlight showed him how to open his heart and shew truly did make Jayfeather look past his blindless and see that despite his blindness, he was still an acceptional cat. This pmv truly does show how Jayfeather needed Briarlight, and how she needed him. The song fits both of them perfectly together and honestly made me love Jayfeather and Brialight a thousand times more

I saw a head cannon that Briarlight would describe the day to Jayfeather when she woke up, if it was foggy, sunny, snowy, how green the trees were, and Jayfeather enjoyed every bit of it. When she passed, Jayfeather would sit in the same spot he did when she described the day to him.

@@namikkou (I know its late bu,) it honsetly made me cry at the end thinking about it and i can just picture that ship art and end up crying again. It's my ship and i'll keep it until the end. So, the Map was amazing not only because i ship Jayfeather and Briarlight, but they've been through so much together and alone.
There are times when the Erins just get all thekr shit together and give us genuinely beautiful writing. And yeah, most of the time it hurts like hell, but god I love them for it.
Jayfeather felt whole with Briarlight and when she died Jayfeather's heart shattered into pieces, Briarlight is a character I will never ever forget.
I cried so hard at Jayfeather’s reaction to Briarlights death. It was so freaking sad.
Haven't read warriors past the 4th series, so I had no idea that Briarlight died until i first saw this MAP a while ago.
I keep rewatching this MAP- it's so beautifully done. Every single part is so well crafted and the script with the music choice is spectacular.

I don’t ship them but, it’s really touching how Jayfeather knows how it’s like living with a disability and not able to succeed in being a warrior and is helping BriarLight because he went through the same thing. It really just sticks out to me at how tough their lives were and how they’re helping each other throughout the rest of their lives. 🥺🥺

This map is so BEAUTIFUL! But it breaks my heart that Briarlight is dead. It's sad because at the ending of the map is Briarlight's last few days because of her sickness, but at the end where Jayfeather joins the other cats to Briarlight's funeral that part was so heartwarming! :D

Even if you don't ship this relationship romantically, it's easy to appreciate it. Theres different kinds of love that someone can fall into, so even if you only ship them platonically, its easy to enjoy, and appreciate the video.

i've always shipped briarlight and jayfeather. they just bring out the best in each other. they also care very deeply for one another. like in river of fire, jayfeather couldn't finish his sentence because he was so overwhelmed and pained by losing briarlight. this map was truly perfect in everyway and no doubt makes me cry every time i watch it. wonderful job

I never really thought of these two as being in love, but I saw them as best friends. Loving someone isn't always the same as being in love with them, and that's what I saw with these two. They love eachother, but not relationship wise. They will do anything for eachother, make the other one happy, want only the best for them.
Sadly I don't see the community do this kind of stuff, it's just mostly "oh they're friends so they must be in love". It's kind of how Mothwing and Leafpool are to me, they're just really good friends that care deeply for eachother.
This map, to me at least, shows how much they care for eachother without being in love. Despite the song, it's a really good friendship map to me.
Eh, I like Mothpool alot.
However with Jayfeather and Briarlight I just see as two people who care deeply for each other. This song with them just puts me in mind of two friends who stayed close to each other, then one leaves, and the other is heartbroken. But knows to move on with others around them.
It's just a song choice, my guy. :3 Maybe don't read too deep into it, because from my perspective (and also note that I don't know these characters or this fandom), it didn't look like any of the illustrations were flirty. Snuggling and spending a lot of time together is something I would do with any platonic friendship. And regardless if the creator did mean for this to be a ship, who really cares what their head-canon is. :3 Zero need to gatekeep or put it down.

As someone who had fallen off of the Warriors series, this was a devastatingly beautiful way to find out that Briarlight had died. When she faded from SaraXu's scene, I gasped. I didn't expect to have to hold back tears today! :(

The idea was so well planned out, the script was wonderfully written, everything was drawn so adorably and lovely. It brought me to tears. Briarlight and jayfeather deserved a lot more. They seemed like great friends aswell. You and your animators did a wonderful job and keep up the outstanding work!!

This is such a beautiful MAP, which also goes to show that true love comes in many forms. You can utterly cherish someone in friendship, willing to give up anything for them, no matter the cost. So whether fans see them as a couple, or simply friends, it doesn't matter! And this MAP demonstrates that so perfectly!

Honestly Jayfeather x Briarlight had better chemistry than Jayfeather x Halfmoon. Both Briarlight and Jayfeather helped inspire eachother and grow as an individual, this would literally be the only forbidden love relationship i wouldnt have minded❤️ but i like how their story went :))
The fact this map haves 2 disabled cats,Jay's blind and briar haves a disabled leg makes my heart melt bc this map shows everyone's diffrent in they're ways, Jay's a bit stoic and briar's sweet.

A ship that I truly loved once again torn up by the natural causes of greencough/illness.
I never liked Jayfeather x Stick or Jayfeather x Half moon because it just didn't seem right to me ever when I read the series.
But when I was reading through the platonic relationship of Briarlight and Jayfeather, I honestly started to like Jayfeather more and this ship inspired me to look past flaws in myself and continue to live a normal life. But when Briarlight died, I cried myself to sleep. I'm happy that Jayfeather found the way to be able to see past his disability and open up more.
I can't wait to see these two be reunited in Starclan one day.

I don’t know if the authors did this intentionally, but when jayfeather was with half moon, it felt like it was a perfect reality for him that was only in his head. He acted completely differently around everyone, as if he was only grumpy because he was bitter about being blind. It makes the jayfeather x briarlight ship a lot more meaningful, since briarlight showed him that you can still be happy even if you aren’t exactly who you want to be. Briarlight also cared about him for who he really is, while half moon cared about jay's wing.
Now anytime I hear briarlight and jays relationship being mentioned:

I find it so sad to see in the scene of the changing seasons and Briarlight passing away just how simply it happens, and how everything else moves on. She's there one moment, and then she's gone, but nothing stops. That's probably how it felt for Jayfeather as well.
