Accused killer's father testifies about call he got from son on the night of the murders

- The murder trial of Ronnie Oneal resumed Thursday, with more family members taking the stand, including Oneal's father, who said his son called him the night of the murders.
Billy Smith said his son told him "Kee Kee is trying to kill me... they're trying to kill me," during that call.
Ronnie Oneal is accused of killing his girlfriend and their nine-year-old daughter in 2018, is also accused of trying to kill their son. The boy, now just 11 years old, is the star witness in this case. The prosecution will wrap up its case Friday, with the defense calling 9 witnesses starting Monday.

Ted Bundy actually did very well for himself in court. And the evidence was huge against him, no attorney could have got him out of anything. So, yea if you kill someone with mounting evidence, it really doesn't matter who defends you, yer probably going to prison either way. The girlfriend he killed was one of those idiots who wears colored contact lenses (I literally hate those people so much, I always feel that I'm looking at a mannequin). Also, they had two kids of both 9 & 11 years old, without the commitment of marriage. Topping it off, the daughter-child was apparently "disabled", so they were collecting BONUS welfare checks for that one, and just absorbing as much tax money from the community as they can.
I don't feel bad at all... kinda feels like a WIN to me.

What is this guy's defense? He was caught with blood all over him, his own son testified he killed everyone. His best hope was to cop a plea to avoid the death penalty.

Shame? It does suck that an 11 year old has to go through this, but it is key testimony and how do you know if his son wanted to do this. It's not like they put him there without explaining what it is for and what to expect. I know I would want to testify against anyone who tried to hurt me to put them away for good.

The judge commended him yesterday on his competence in this case as far as defending himself. She did that to prevent him from trying for a mistrial.

But the child was not forced they probably asked him and he said yes. He cannot be forced I'm sure the boys knew he would be talking to his father who is representing himself they probably informed him and said he can do it or not but does not have to. No one has to testify. And there was enough evidence he did it. But because he representing himself he can cross examine witnesses from what I understand because he is representing himself and has no lawyer and he chose this

You can pretend his pos "dad" didn't traumatize him and live out your fantasy but he is a little CHILD, he actually loved his dad unconditionally even throughout all the abuse. It was all he knew. Psychological trauma is real. Just about everyone in the comments would love to wrap their arms around the little boy and show him he is loved and how proud we are of him for a reason. Human nature.
When he says to his son “it’s good to see you man” and couldn’t even look at his son while saying those words. The amount of pain and suffering that child has gone through has surely made him numb and disconnected from emotion. I pray he (the child) becomes aware of himself and is able to live a sane and happy life. He’s got a lot of support, I know he’ll be fine on that avenue. But no one can help you if you don’t help yourself. He seems like a sweet young man but we don’t know what he’s feeling or thinking. I just pray he doesn’t feel like his father deserves any forgiveness or redemption for playing a role in his creation. He does not. You get what you deserve in this life, it may take sometime but eventually we all do.

It's disturbing to see the murderer cross examine his son, but the son was an important witness called by the prosecution. Prosecutors knew the boy would be cross examined by the murderer. Also, no one can claim the murderer was denied any legal rights. He asked to, and was allowed to, defend himself.

The bravery of that boy is staggering. Giving evidence in a court setting must be daunting at that age, let alone being questioned by your alleged attacker, and when that individual is your father. Incredible strength.

I just can't even imagine what this child's life will be if someone doesn't step in. I was almost murdered twice by the age of 13. I had zero support. My life is crap.

The court is not right for allowing a kid under 18 to testify in court by the killer of his own family. Send questions & allow them to be answered but not this way. This is foolish

That’s because black kids are NEVER seen as children…it’s a problem not only with whites in American society’s but a lot of black folks as well…you see it in elementary school punishments, you see it in the juvenile justice system and you especially see it in how parents discipline their brown and black children…it’s deep and if you don’t know there is research available, you just have to look..🤨
