Really appreciate the info as I'm going to take my 2016 3500 long bed and stretch that frame 16 inches so it can carry my 10 ft camper better. It's a single tire that I will convert to a dually with a 10 ft flat bed.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. I'm a good fabricator, build race cars.

Sounds like a fun build. I don't have much advice except for performing the stretch right under the cab where you have the nice straight section of frame would be ideal. Guessing you are going with a 10' flatbed so centering the rear axle will not be an issue. Sounds like you have some good fab experience so I think you will be fine. @@royalsanders6287

Looks like a 4 gen truck with a 3rd gen rear frame, biggest reason nothing lined up correct. Bed bolt holes spring hangers ect... also why your tank won't fit. Which drive shaft did you lengthen? Hope it was the rear if not you'll always have a vibration.

Nothing to do with a third generation frame. The OE frame was cut and extended right below the back of the cab. The tank does fit. The guy who did the work said it wont for some reason. I think he forgot to fab in a cross member to support the tank and just said it wont fit. My winter project is to correct the few little issues with the tank and bed bolts. The rear drive shaft was the one that was extended.

@hillsautohome346 Being i have stretched mine and a few other megacabs myself. If you or the guy you hired had used the correct frame, you wouldn't have had a hack job. I have stretched a few megacabs and never had to custom make anything or drill extra holes, With the exception of the drive shaft. I'm telling you a 4th gen frame is square and the 3rd gen is rounded... you have a 4th and 3rd frame welded together on the sides only to beat it even dodge weld the entire joint. I would sue, because that truck is not safe. Not busting balls just saying I wouldn't drive it or try to sell it to anyone.

@@JW10.4 If you want to drop me your email I will send you all the fabrication photos of the build. It is the OE frame on both ends. All the factor tags, stickers and frame sections match. Even the gooseneck hitch I installed before it was cut is the exact same, on the same frame. The rounded section you might see in the video is the fabricated section to give it the about 18'' of extra length. It was sleeved on the inside and then the inner sleeve was slipped in the OE frame. Then plate was bent around the frame in a break to create an exact match to the frame on the outside.
I did take it to a body shop that does six door excursions and they were impressed with the fabrication work.
I also have towed with it, no issues. This with a 16k gooseneck and 7600lb load.
If you have done a few I would love to see some videos! Please post them up. I will subscribe to you and keep my eyes open. I want to see some more content on these as I'm thinking about doing a second one in the next year.
As you know from yours to get the bed bolt holes to line you need to stretch the frame in two places. Since this was only done in one spot I have the bed bolt alignment issues.

@hillsautohome346 Drilling a new hole in the spring hanger no good. It's okay I think you got a bad deal and just pointing out I'd be very careful hauling anything with that truck. sorry not dropping my email on TH-cam comments.

@hillsautohome346 If you or thr guy would have bought a long bed 4door frame everything besides the driveshaft would have lined up perfectly. Best I can do is change my profile to my truck. 😊

@theoneandonly2590 if you do your research it's really easy actually.

The safety chain holes I’ve seen ppl drill big holes like that bc they can fit the factory covers in the hole from the mopar one

Interesting. Well, the factory plugs will not fit here. Thanks for the comment and the view.

It just seems like you did no research and got a shady guy to do your work. I wouldnt trust anyone to do this mod besides custom solutions inc.

I actually did years of research. Spoke with many customers of both trex tech and Custom Solutionz inc. I also consulted several body shops and a former Nascar fabricator on the best location to stretch one. Both said the strongest place to cut and splice is right under the back of the cab, rather than under the bed.
I actually visited the Stretch My Truck guys in UT. Was not impressed with several welds and two of the bed mounts where not even supporting the bed. I know that they have many happy customers so who knows. I still have a huge email chain from them asking questions about their process.
Don't know what would have been best. Either way it was a gamble.

I don't know about a full hack job. The frame extension is top notch.
Not worth a law suit for me.

Exactly the two different model frames being welded together is a big NO for me.
