Shame on them for cheating their tenants out of extra money on their water bills. The reason they lowered the bills to the correct amount is because they got caught red handed. The tenants should file a class action lawsuit against that company for all the back over payments
These apt imo are and have been squeezing extra money out of their tenants for just about every thing they can, because they can bc really, what are you or can you do about it? You can make Complaints but unless your lucky enough to know the right people or get a news station to cover it your just screwed.
Say what so if you just ask me, ain’t nobody reading no meter they’re just going off the top of their head what they want to charge this lady and what does it matter is she has a number of occupants in her home. This is crazy straight scammers being underhanded, but guess what karma is definitely coming, and I hope this issue gets resolved in an honest manner.
I am stuck with this. $50 just to access the sewer, then add another $60-65 for the actual usage. At the last complex I lived just a mile from here I was paying around $35 for the whole bill. Thank you for the report.
I live in a multi unit house with 5 apartments and we don’t pay a water bill the landlord pays it whenever he wants the water bill is over 1600 and he only puts 300-400 dollars on the water bill and pocket the rest the water bill will never come down the city had turned our water off due to him not paying it and he lied about it saying that the city had a water main break when they didn’t the water bill use to come every 3 months now it’s every month and when he is late or don’t pay it they charge him a 200 dollar fine added to the bill for non payment 🤦🏽♀️
My old complex gave us a water allowance based on the number of occupants. If we went over in usage, we paid for the overage. This was 10 years ago when things were less scrupulous.
After watching clips online, two places I would NEVER live is Houston, TX and Fulton County, GA. Both places suffer poor governments and all sorts of crimes.
They are all doing this. Back in the day, things were done right.. water bill was no more than 20 - 25 for one bedroom, 40 - 45 for two etc. etc.. They are doing something different because nobody is complaining or exploding their tactics. They charge for trash, yet you are the one putting your trash in their dumpsters. They should be responsible for that. They charge residents for hot water heater bills in the form of gas charges, but in Texas, they have been given all this power.
Yes, companies are quick to take advantage of you, but will refuse to give a refund. That happened to me. I was being overbilled by my internet provider. I called them and asked them why, when I only had one landline and one desktop computer was I paying $132.00? They looked it up, and said that it was a mistake, and they readjusted my bill going forward to $82. I asked them if I could get a refund for the wrong billing, and they said "No. You were paying the higher amount, so by doing so, you were agreeing to it." Always question your bill. Don't just think that there must be a reason. Companies can be very crooked.
It is time to legislate every rental needs to have its own water meter. I assure you I would be at Tarantino and someone would have some serious problems when they left work and walked out of that building at the end of the day.
It is time to look for a home instead … I own 3000 sq ft home and pay about 100 dollars a month including my trash service .. sometimes even less … lots of watering plants and grass too 3 adults
The water bill is always included within the rent. Unless it is written in the lease that you will get a water bill and you will need to have a meter..😂 It’s not a separate bill. Snakes watch out renters desperate times call for desperate measures…
We need an attorney to get on this issue. Landlords getting away with too much. One lady in California in line at the local utilities company had the water shut off to her apartment by the utilities for being late on her bill! This should be illegal!
This is something everyone needs to ask about before they rent from an apartment complex. Wow. Thank you for reporting this!
When I moved here we didn't have to pay water
The reason is simple, THEY GOT EXPOSED !!!!!
💯%

Well they can’t kick em out to jack up the rent for the next tenant… this is the alternative
If they kick her out, then file, but, otherwise, let sleeping dogs lie. ❤
Be careful, they might try to kick you out.
Well duh, that’s the idea. They don’t like long term renters
Most states have anti retaliation laws so that’s illegal also!
Do not contact us again? I would have hung up and called right back and been like"hey girl"
😂
😂
Love this kind of reporting

Corporate greed. Doing any and everything to increase their bottom line. Sad.
Thank you AMY
how in the hell are they charging by number of occupants in the apartment ?????????????????/
Greed
By that logic they should charge $5000k to 10+ mexicans living in an apartment
@@_Inferno_Fay Everything is greed to the bottom feeders of society! Sad that I have to breath the same air as you!
Because the more people in the apartment the more water usage.
They are probably charging her for watering the lawn and the pool too.

I love the renter's voice. It sounds so peaceful...🤗🤗😌😌
Should not even be paying for a separate water bill because APARTMENTS ARE SUPPOSED TO PAY THAT BILL THEMSELVES !!!!!
Or a flat fee.
I don't blame her for going at that Bill, that complex will just try to create a new charge or fee for something miscellaneous
Watch your rent go up now. Basically everyone wants your money for free.
they will say its per square footage of your apartment and goes by the number of bedrooms.
My old complex gave us a water allowance based on the number of occupants. If we went over in usage, we paid for the overage. This was 10 years ago when things were less scrupulous.
What is the point of submetering?? Just charge the customer directly and pay directly.
Wow. Thank you for helping her. And I'm glad that she stuck up for herself!
After watching clips online, two places I would NEVER live is Houston, TX and Fulton County, GA. Both places suffer poor governments and all sorts of crimes.
So sad that corruption must be handled in such a manner or you're just stuck...
I’m so glad she spot out. People don’t let anyone take advantage of you.
I’m so glad y’all helped her

This is BS!!! They lying
RealPage using an algorithm to overcharge for water too, not just rent. Absolutely infuriating

At that point you should dispute the charge with your bank. Tell them you tried working with the merchant and did not succeed.
Mine went up triple in April also. It’s a scam for sure
Sure, it is.
I'll stop using the water and bathe in the on site swimming pool to clean myself lol
Well done Amy!!!!
It is time to legislate every rental needs to have its own water meter. I assure you I would be at Tarantino and someone would have some serious problems when they left work and walked out of that building at the end of the day.
Texas is not doing that. Texas will always side with corporations over people.
Broadway square, sucks. Lived there before. So does the management 😢
Broadway Square was great back in the 70’s. Harold Farb was the owner.
😂😂😂 stop the cap not the coolaid intro 😂😂😂
it was lemonade
My prayers are with them.
They need to meter the water and lower the rent cuz we are being overcharged since they started the water shenanigans.
Smh and it’s only gunna get worse sadly ..
That’s why I never put children on my lease… cause why… they can’t be legally held responsible anyway.
Not her making kool aid lol
lol why is it bad?
I think this happens everywhere. I lived in WA state and the exact same issue.
Amy is the one tough fighter for Houstonians 💪🏼🔥
I live in a 3 bedroom house with 3 bathrooms in Houston and my bill is $30. I can’t stand apartments. They add fees everywhere!
It is time to look for a home instead … I own 3000 sq ft home and pay about 100 dollars a month including my trash service .. sometimes even less … lots of watering plants and grass too 3 adults
Govt is screwing property owners too
They are typing up the "Eviction" notice as we watch this video.
Praise JESUS! Great reporting! So glad you helped her get the issue resolved. The management company lied & could be sued.
Charge by number of occupants?
You may want to read your lease before renting anywhere .
I would read my lease and circle things in red. Why the manager got mad at me for reading the lease. lol
They will still try to get one over on a tenant.
@@nioxa5421 there you go
@@BlueAvians if its not in the lease its nog legal then you move
It shouldn't matter how many ppl live in the apartment, it only matters how much water you use.
What a scam. Time for submeters. They just passed her bill decrease to everyone else.

Jesus is the answer.
The PUC is not gonna do ANYTHING
I’m tryna see why on back of the water bill it says an attempt to collect a debit. So I filed a dispute and nothing happened!
Why rent a place where you have to pay for the water 💧
yea the up the rent charging for singles mens for 6 an apartment I was 2 people including me the say water bill increased. I moved out.
No, uh uh, oh Hell No!
Unveil the scam
Kin folk said Jed move away from there 🤠
All you had to show us was that Real Page logo. We know who is at fault.
Your outfit doesn’t coordinate.
Seems like fraud to me
Never lived in an apartment without dedicated water and electric meters. Is Texas third world?
Nope most are like that here in Wisconsin unless it’s a new construction within the last 20 years
That's pure socialism. Feels awful, huh? Stinks!

Amy has terrible fashion sense.
The lady said every dine count. Why is she buying water from the store? While crying about the price of city water?
If you are still drinking city water you will never figure out the answer.
Ask the people in those houston communities with cancer why she’s drinking clean water.
she smarts for buying / refilling those 5 gal
It also shows she is not using the tap for many of her needs.

You used the utility. It’s time to pay. You don’t like it? Move .
They over charged her!
No. She used the water. Now it’s time to pay. Stop complaining and get a life. That means go to school and get a job to cover her bills.
Follow the money and I'll bet it leads straight to a Democrat
