My absolute favourite Opeth song. The climax at "but you're grasping melting ice" is unbeatable. Shame not many people who react to Opeth have reacted to it.
When he finished saying "The victims of a longing" and that guitar starts, and that guitar started, was the moment Opeth's new direction clicked for me. It was just unbelievable.
I just saw Opeth live for the first time and for the most part I overlooked this entire album until they played Eternal Rains Will Come live and I legit shed a tear, now I can't get enough of it.
Eternal Rains Will Come is in my top 5 Opeth songs. It's quite straightforward (compared the lengthy prog epics on Pale Communion) but I just love the arrangement and the sheer drive of it.
For me, it's a bit of a tie between Pale Communion and In Cauda Venenum. I think on Heritage they were still trying to find that new sound. It's got some great stuff but it is maybe not as cohesive as other albums. On Pale Communion they were more confident and it's maybe their most 70s prog style album as a whole. Then Sorceress is also great, but not quite as great. And In Cauda Venenum to me is the one that is closest to their old style. There's so many moments in there that remind me of the old records although on the whole it is still the new style. And to me it is the heaviest of their new albums.
I LOVE Oldpeth, and and I'm eternally grateful for Newpeth. Like, these guys could have all gone away after the first 6 or 7 albums, and I'd be like "SWEET! Thanks for those, as they break my face!" But then they keep making new stuff, and I'm like "Wow, you guys are aging and growing and you KEEP SHARING GREAT STUFF WITH US!" So, you know, all is well.
i think most people like their dark metal! me too!! which is great, but opeth are so talented they should be progressive it's maturing musically no stopping talent progressing naturally. ; )
Then there's stuff like Elysian Woes, Häxprocess, and Folklore too of course. Folklore, like Faith in Others is also a closer track on it's respective album and also a haunting melodic proggy one as well.
A lot of the newer stuff is pretty mellow, but Opeth had plenty of mellow tracks back when they were still doing metal. I still don't think you guys have gotten to any of those, like the entire Damnation album. Looking forward to that, because the stuff on that album is just as good as the metal or the prog rock.
Me too Windowpane is one of the most anticipated tracks they have yet to get to for me :D That and To Bid You Farewell, another amazing more "mellow" song
Personally i find dirge for november to be their most beautifully haunting song, but this one is definitely among them as well. Pale communion might be my favorite opeth album actually. Not one song on the album is weak in any way. Especially moon above, sun below and river are fantastic from that album, but you can't go wrong with any song from this album.
I agree as far as Dirge and Faith go. Pale Communion is quite blank album for me though, I dont know why. The songs are good for the most part, much more consistent than in Heritage, but the whole album is quite weak in terms of vibe. Its trying too much to emulate prog bands of 70 and 80 but it also lacks Opeth identity.
All Pale Communion songs are haunting (the title says it all) !.. and chills in!.. but the most beautiful song of this record is not this one for me Now time for Dream Theater finally. If you don’t hate their name no reason to not check. (You are both BEAUTIFUL persons ♥️beautiful souls)
When a song is really good, sometimes you have to laugh because you’re so blown away. I do it all the time with sad songs (for example, “Hours of Wealth”). Also, this music makes me really happy so I smile all the time while listening.
Honest for you maybe. This song for me is in absolutely no way boring. Deep and emotive sad and melancholic and somehow uplifting and spiritual all at once. Opeth is fuckin amazing

Agreeeee

A couple other songs from the "Pale Communion" album I recommend. 'Eternal Rains Will Come' and a track no one really talks about but I love...'River'
Moon above sun below and river are among the best opeth songs of all time honestly
Eternal Rains Will Come is in my top 5 Opeth songs. It's quite straightforward (compared the lengthy prog epics on Pale Communion) but I just love the arrangement and the sheer drive of it.
River is underrated. The vocal harmonies and picking technique are really good.
completely agree, the three quoted, those two plus this in the video are in my ongoing playlist on spotify
I love river, definitely one of their best song from the new era
My goodness, this is gorgeous.
"Newpeth". Love it! :D
I think Pale Communion is my favorite album of their current era.
Easilly their best post-Watershed. The album is on par with heavy htters like Watershed, Morningrise, Ghost Reveries, and My Arms, Your Hearse

One of the saddest songs ever. There's confort in melancholy.
Mate... I came just to say nothing... 😢 this song is... 🌟
A fair judgement , Lovelorn crime, the devil orchard And I can die happy
Ehehe 😂😃
I love this song and album.

This is so beautiful in so many ways, that all you can do is sit, enjoy, cry, let emotions do their job.
You should definitely react to "The Amen Corner" from the album My Arms, Your Hearse.
The problem now is that I got used to listen to opeth with you guys 🙂
😂😂😂😂😂 Same here
Is it really a problem ??? 🤣
My favorite Opeth song maybe
Definitely listen Lovelorn Crime.
This was a major song for getting me through some hard times ❤
at LAST !! glad you enjoy it , now ready for "eternal rains "
Nice, perhaps one of my favorite Opeth songs,.
Wonderful choice. I find this one of their most moving tracks.
Waiting for you to react to Windowpane.
Aren't you glad you've discovered one of the most under the radar great band. I challenge anyone to name another!!
i think most people like their dark metal! me too!! which is great, but opeth are so talented they should be progressive it's maturing musically no stopping talent progressing naturally. ; )
Such a beautiful track. Talk about an album closer!
One of my favorite slow songs. It's absolutely perfect.
Then there's stuff like Elysian Woes, Häxprocess, and Folklore too of course.
Folklore, like Faith in Others is also a closer track on it's respective album and also a haunting melodic proggy one as well.
This song makes me rethink of my life
You guys have to do ‘a fair judgement’ next!!
One of the very few Songs I got wet eyes almost every time I hear it, absolute sublime!
Face of Melinda, beneath the mire!!!!
He actually started writing this to score a show/movie apparently but when that fell through he moved parts into this track. Nice catch!
interesting, where did you hear this?
Thanks Dave 🥰🎶
Perfect song
One of my favorite songs of all time. Not my favorite album at all; but this song is a masterpiece.
Oldpeth and Newpeth lol. Windowpane is a must listen by Oldpeth
Fuck yeah
I love the 'Mash' style transition in the first quarter.
Opeths Pink Floyd track in my opinion. And I'm 100% on board for it. Love both bands so much.
My favourite track of their new era.
Opeth - Madrigal/ The Amen Corner
I can't believe you guys still haven't done one off of thier first or second album.
Just noticed that cash app is not available in my country (Norway)... Any possibility you will get another way to request songs soon?

Yeah I’ve been hoping for Windowpayne
Me too Windowpane is one of the most anticipated tracks they have yet to get to for me :D
That and To Bid You Farewell, another amazing more "mellow" song
Do folklore! Or Cusp of Eternity

I agree. Dirge for November
River needs a spin

Do I sense a little Pink Floyd in this...
Please react to river.
You wont regret it
Ghost love score
Please react on bridge of sighs by opeth
Ear f u...Opeth. (in general)
All Pale Communion songs are haunting (the title says it all) !.. and chills in!.. but the most beautiful song of this record is not this one for me

Yuck Fes
Don't get why you're laughing?

Let's be honest... except for 2 or 3 passages, this song is first and foremost one thing: uneventful, or to be more clear: boring.
Honest for you maybe. This song for me is in absolutely no way boring. Deep and emotive sad and melancholic and somehow uplifting and spiritual all at once. Opeth is fuckin amazing
What's that thing about opinions?
