This fight was for the Muay Thai flyweight championship, not kick boxing… Rodtang is still the flyweight Muay Thai WC, and Superlek is still the kick boxing WC.

Her team is really to blame for this. But at her size, bone mass, muscle mass, and height, its really tough to maintain that weight. She will still be fighting and we will be cheering on, belt or no belt. Money is still there. If she wins, she can contend for the belt again. Even better narrative. Hoping for a good fight!

However she could have cut a bit of hair to make weight, therefore she definitely is to blame.
At 19, she is *far* past her "growing" years. MAYBE that excuse could fly for a man, but not a woman.
They should be suppressing her periods, it's not unsafe and could keep this kind of thing from happening.

I’ll assume Smila is crying because she knew for weeks what weight she needed to be but let herself down ?
in fact, the preparation time for this match was significantly shorter than normal, but the problem is more of a teenage girl whose fluid weight changes quickly, for example, due to the menstrual cycle, or just a stress reaction. Ones hydration test also causes its own problems, because even though she has accumulated subcutaneous edema, she may need to drink more water to pass the test.
It's sad, because women's weight fluctuates 3-5lbs overnight and can fluctuate at least as much during the day. If she was worried about making hydration, and downed a half-gallon of water, then that easily could have added the extra weight.
What I'd like to know is, if she had already won the title, that means she made weight before the fight where she won it. Isn't that when it counts?
How do you lose a title after you win it and met the weight before the match?
