Great to see a newcomer enjoying it so much. Smaller hooks and baits will get you more flatfish. Casting is not about heaving and grunting it's about timing and technique so less effort and let the rod do what it's designed to do.
We certainly did enjoy it, The casting was more for the comedy value of making each other laugh 😅 thanks for the tip on flatties!
