This interviewer is amazing. He's asking hte most intelligent questions I've ever heard someone ask an actor.
PSH was always right there with the humanity of every character that he ever played. That's what made him so special.
Brilliant actor.
Fantastic interview. What a lovely man and what a shame. His children must miss him dearly.
@Lisa Surlie and achieved more than you could ever dream of... what's your excuse?
Best actor of a generation.
Dude, Phillip Seymour Hoffman is a TRUE American actor. Everyone says so little about him, yet express so much by his support. Most people can't name his best films, but say he is the best. Good thing but an uneducated thing as well. He just... RULES.
So many great movies he was in .. .right up til the end.
Just seeing one of his performances blows people away. He is a Great actor.
Best interviewer on television. Fantastic show.
rip phillip thank you for the film you left behind
Phillip Seymour Hoffman is one of a handful of people IMO that are not only good, but remarkably good at his craft. Ever since his relatively small role in Patch Adams, I've been a huge fan. Really moving actor.
Occasionally I was able to watch George/The Hour on the basic cable system at my cabin in northern Washington state, until we had to get a cable box with basic cable. I loved George's interviews. My home in south eastern Washington does not carry CBC on the lineup with the full package. CBC should at least be in the northern states that border our Canadian neighbor, ally and friends. Liked this interview with Philip Seymour Hoffman a much under-appreciated actor who is simply awesome.
He’s an inspiration to me coming from Rochester, where I also live and make films - probably inspiring to a lot of other local guys as well.
a true acting legend.......RIP
What a legend. RIP.
Just wanted to make sure everyone said RIP on all his youtube videos, don't worry guys this one is taken care of.
That's sad that the character he talks about realized all the things he had never done, and Philip never got to experience the many more things his life had to offer, especially involving his family. Also George is an awesome interviewer. I mean he's actually seen Happiness for crying out loud. All these other "journalists" keep referencing his role in Along Came Polly for some reason. You can tell by the way this is edited that they had a really long and genuine conversation.
RIP....what a great actor
RIP
RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman...didn't know he was even on Canadian TV!
RIP kind sir, you shall be missed.
Boogie nights was one of his best roles
I will miss you. May you rest in peace.
I walked by Philip in NYC today near Union Square. At first I thought it was a homeless guy then realized it was him. He was just living life (he looks even fatter in person). But, If he's willing to brave the streets of nyc without a plethora of body guards--unlike most other celebs--than he has my respect.
George is the man! That's a Canadian boy for you
wow. He's so nice! I'm glad.
Great actor, what a tragedy, RIP....
Rest in peace,
Seriously, there is nothing more sad when people can just make rude comments on another person without thinking. His death was tragic and should be seen in the light that he was a human like the rest of us are. Shame you all those who would make light of the fact that he died and how dare that you judge him so harshly...
This guy is easily one of the best actors now, along with Daniel Day-Lewis and Sean Penn.
What I like about PSH is he's so talented & so intelligent and yet so humble & unassuming. I've not seen anything he's done - movie wise - that's bad.
@Decelerated I can say I love this actor and that he's certainly one of my favorite. Loved him in Doubt, Synecdoche New York, The Savages, Before The Devil Knows you're Dead, the one where he gets high on gas, and many more! Hoffman kicks some serious fucking ass! Greetings from Serbia!
Rest easy, Phil. We'll take it from here.
Monster Talent ...
absolutely !
@zrouth It's a Canadian show, but yeah, George is really great. Gives good interviews, knowledgeable about his guests and has excellent questions.
I got that exact same hat a year ago at the CN Tower
@Reinpret I've loved him ever since Twister, they guy is SERIOUSLY one of the great actors of this generation. I mean he goes from an uptight asshole cop in Nobody's Fool, to Dusty in Twister, then Scotty in Boogie Nights he's seriously one of those actors who can play anything.
Now is as good a time as any for a PSH marathon. I ma watch most of his movies. Fortunately I haven't seen most of them. The ones I've seen he stole the show. It will be a treat.
george is a good interviewer
I really miss The Hour and everything Strombo touched; insightful, thought-provoking questions for what seemed like a never-ending list of genuine artists who felt comfortable diving deep with him. This is why podcasting took off: people want real.
Oh my, so sad, PSH was an amazing spirit to loose too soon...been sad all day, hummm....people we meet and let into our world will change our life, our experiences and can change our perspective even if it is an illusion...love can make you crazy, but life without love will make you crazier...perspective is everything when you can see the truth otherwise its just an illusion. :-(
John Ortiz is an incredible actor
He is only 5 years older than George. Wow.
5:14 chilling
Outstanding actor.
he was looking handsome here
this video is good
are they sure he"s dead??? all im saying is that he was a really good actor.....
love liza and happiness were my favorites
Why can't I find Hoffman's episode of Inside the Actors Studio!? It is infuriating!
I didnt catch what his favourite movie was. Something Paris?
Mattress Man,
Best roll yet...
@spurcross what do you mean by that? They're not really discussing anything that would bring that notion to light, I don't think
RIP. :(
I never realized that he sounds like John Goodman...
RIP PSH. What a shame.
8:17 prophetic
the Master
Great! R.I.P. P.S.H.
he was here like 43 .. but he look like 55 !
So sad...rip
This video doubled its views in the last few days ;-)
he reminds me of John Goodman in this (but PSH is infinetely better, although both were great in TBL).
Totally forgot about him, lol
Such a good talent gone to stupid drugs.
Very talented guy. Very tragic choices.
George is a frickin sycophant
Sandy lyle lol
You can see the intellect exploding behind his forehead.
Richard Dreyfuss??
Mary and Max***
46 wow.......... i thought he died of old age.
When will the world realize that addictions are diseases? Sad, but true. The comments on this video are shameful, sick and if anyone goes to hell, it will be the freaks who posted the comments about hell. God forgives and he will look after those who needed his help as much as PSH. Bless his heart.
When will the world realize that "actors" have more opportunity than most to not only have a privileged life but to give and to help others. All ill see is another Heroin junkie, nothing more, nothing less.
wtf is wrong with georges last name?
What on Earth are you even talking about?
That guy George is a poor interviewer in my opinion.
YEAH AND YOU CAN BET "THAT KINDA LOVE" IS GONNA MAKE THOSE POOR CHILDREN CRAZY... I am having a hard time forgiving him for his private moment of weakness...where the &^^%was his sponsor or his obvious intelligence?!!!..... awful!
Stoner +
Big loss. Say no to drugs.
PSH may just be the most overrated working actor today. People are starting to wise up. This actor keeps me out of the theatre.
By the way how did Strombolopulis ever get a job on air at CBC...oops he's ethnic, I forgot for a moment...
Do you have a problem with that Ellen? You could have auditioned for the position but the application probably got lost in the mail.
why does he look so old???
Sadly, like many great actors, he is disappointingly unintelligent without a script to put words in his mouth.
He is missed! RIP
RIP
dude how come i've never heard of this guy, he's the best interviewer I've ever seen. And PSH is of course of the greatest
