A completely new semi-mounted plough with a centre chassis is the seven- to twelve-row Kverneland PW/RW Variomat plough.
The new Kverneland semitrailer ploughs PW/RW feature a completely new design with a robust front plough section with centre chassis and a conventional rear mounted full reversible plough.
This new design offers more flexibility in choosing the right combination of ploughs for the soil conditions. In some conditions, it is advantageous to use only the front part of the tractor because of very wet or extremely hard soils or the availability of a suitable tractor. The heavy front part alone ensures optimum performance under all conditions. However, it can also be advantageous to use only the rear part as a normal mounted plough for machining smaller areas or headlands. The rear plough can be uncoupled in just a few minutes and is therefore ready for operation. The two parts are reassembled just as quickly. So you have free choice at any time.

I'm impressed. This guy did a good job finishing this small parcel with such a big machine!
At minute 1:25 you can see that on the video only a small part of the area can be seen. Time is money and the bigger the machines the faster he can work :)
In reality even such a field likely doesn't warrant having this kind of tractor and size of plough on hand unless there are several other fields and this perhaps being not the largest either. Money is also money.

+dontflamenogame große trecker fahren ist viel einfacher als kleine bzw ältere trecker zu bewegen, nur auf einer engen straße oder auf dem hof bzw halle wirds ein wenig unübersichtlich. etwas xerion fahren zu lernen braucht man nicht mal 2 tage.. pflügen ist natürlich neben drescher fahren die königsdisziplin
naja mittlerweile ist dreschen fahren auch nicht mehr grade schwer, gps an und fertig ^^

These big tools are impressive. However, because of their size, there's a lot of extra compaction you get over using a traditional 5 or 6 furrow reversible. Our old 5 furrow lemken and electronics free, ultra reliable case international 956 would turn on a sixpence, leave minimal headland compaction and achieve impressive daily acreage performance. Big is not always best, but I do like these machines!

Can someone explain to me why they still use ploughs in Europe while in North America the last 15+ years minimal tillage or no tillage has become the common practice?

in Europe we still like our planet and nature a little.
More chemicals are required for minimum or no tillage.
The crop rotations are also so often not observed.
Unfortunately, more and more farmers in Europe are not working the soil because it is cheaper.
This is not a good future for our planet.

What about the effects of soil erosion due to agitating the earth this much? I recognize that in America and Canada chemicals are seen as far less an issue. Everyone seems to love Roundup in the states. Monsanto can do no wrong for many farmers. Skepticism of the chemicals is far less pronounced. Are there not better alternatives to chemicals to help minimize the required amount of chemicals with reduced tillage?
That is a very good question to which I unfortunately have no answer.
Some approaches of the movie "Tomorrow" (Demain) to see on Amazon Prime, I liked very much but the solution is not either.
And now that Monsanto belongs to a German company (BAYER), the problem with Roundup will be solved all by itself, the first complaints are already in preparation.
Do other users have a suggestion?
There is one difference between what you see here and much, but not all of Europe and what is commonly found, but again not right across the country US. It is to do with the type of climate each area has. Much of Europe is classified as having a temperate climate. As such, it tends to have a cooler summer and milder winter, particularly compared to the US. Combined with this is an rather regular if not high rainfall. But the crucial aspect of this is that all the available rainfall tends to get fully utilized. With dry conditions and few and hard rain, much of it is wasted, while really dry conditions mean the soil won''t even take it up. Prolonged periods of this means a difference in the type of plant you get and what levels of organic matter you get. Then there is mono-cropping versus a healthy crop rotation practices used in Europe. Unfortunately different techniques mean different yields and margins, but it can pretty well be established that years of max gain is less sustainable than 70 % of max margin which equals only 70% nutrient mining. Rotating what you grow can be done with specific crops in mind that have different requirement and can even include nutrient replenishing crops. Cover crops are now grown to reduce moisture loss and if you're clever, some leguminous element to that cover crop will benefit the soil. The wisdom and knowledge is all there, but many American growers are content with the relatively low cost of being mechanized of but a few crops that can be combine harvested and be done with it. It is part of why The US Mid-West is also called the dust bowl. No wind breaks between the fields and nothing was done about the diminishing quality of the soil, soil moisture retention and so on. No till tech is an answer to this, but farmers were convinced by people with vested interests, as they always have been, to go the chemical route. Unfortunately, Roundup doe not bring back organic matter nor nutrients. Europe does not believe in mono cropping, for one thing, what happens if your one crop fails, or alternatively yields really well but since everyone did really well, there is oversupply and it is worth bugger all.
The plough is still the best tool for burying trash, but not so long ago an alternative arrived in the for of top down cultivation. The plough causes a hard pan in the soil over prolonged use at same depth and any form of cultivation probably does this. But subsoilers/rippers cut through that layer. If root crops are in your rotation, then you will need a plough as part of your seedbed prep. Agitating the soil is no problem in itself, it is leaving it exposed to the air means moisture loss and that is very bad. Not such and issue in the area shown here, Holland. Rolling soon after is common, as a means of minimizing the loss. High rates of evaporation are bad. Europe has problems with this in the Mediterranean region, but much less of an issue. In dry areas, no cultivation should occur with considering the moisture loss potential.

Ich pflüge meine Felder ab 30 bis 200 Ha Stücken in Russland mit Traktor 306 PS und Pflug Cairos XS 950-6V (6-Scharige). Insgesamt 460 Ha Ackerflächen. Ich schafe bis zu 50 Ha pro Tag (20 St.). Früher hatte ein großerre Pflug (8 Scharige) maximal 38 Ha pro Tag. An die Stelle verstehe ich nicht: wo spart man Zeit und Geld mit 10 Scharen auf diesen Gärten. Besser wird so sagen: hey, Jungs! Hört auf! Ich mag doch Große Spielzeuge.
