- Here's conclusive proof that worms really do enjoy bread! I fed three of the rolls in halves and the other three were in bread crumb form after going through my garden mulcher. The results are interesting and it certainly goes to show the food preparation is important - but either way, bread appears to be a winner! 🥇

Great experiment & great little rolly polly helpers there!! I've never seen bread mulched before so that was entertaining!! I appreciate you discussing the salt content and different molds on the bread and the worms reactions to the whole situation! Great video!!🪱🪱🪱
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it! 👍😊
Thanks so much for this, I’m trying to encourage worms into one bit of the garden they seem to have deserted it!
Give them food and keep the spot damp - and they will come! Thanks for watching😊👍
Really thanks for your efforts 💐❤💐
Thanks Khaled! 👍😊
Not surprising the smaller particles were digested quicker i guess. Certainly makes for beautiful soil either way.
Absolutely - black gold for the veggie garden!
Great video thank you. I am raising night crawlers for fishing and will try the bread crumbs one day
Hope you catch lots of fish!! 🐟🐠🐡🐳
Do you have problems with slaters? They are terrible in my garden. They destroy seedlings after they sprout.
Just like rats, worms love bread.
I think slaters are generally considered good in the garden as they are terrific composters themselves. In large numbers though, I believe they can eat seedlings :(
IMO, Whole wheat bread works best
Interesting! I haven't actually done any bread comparisons! 👍
Rolly pollies! They are the only bug I trust
Haha, they are cute (and trustworthy!) 😀👍
We call 'em Rolly Polies here in the States. ('roe-lee-poe-lee")
Yep, I have heard that name Mel. Thanks for reminding me! 😊
Wood lice in the UK. Good warning about the salt. One thing to watch out for, we blended some mouldy bread with overripe fruit and mixed it in with some shredded card to precompost the bedding (no worms in the bin). By the next day the temperature in the bin had climbed to 133F which is great for thermophyllic precomposting but fatal for worms in a normal size bin. It was definitely the bread that made the difference because we had tried adding a fruit & veg slurry to that bedding 3 days earlier and it barely brought up the temperature.
wow its a worm feast down there :D
Yeah, they loved it! 😊
The slaters are called Isopods. FYI
Even though Isopods is a pretty cool name, they'll always be slaters to me! 😁
I feed my worms rabbit droppings alfalfa and some hay and rabbit feed that comes from cleaning my rabbit pin's the worms also get vegetables and some worm chow I made my self
Your worms sound very well fed mate! 👍😊
Slaters in uk called wood lice
Thanks David, I didn't know that! 👍
@@TheUltimateRecycler They are only called Wood lice in some places. Known as slaters to me for nearly 80 years and generations before me too.
@@alanmcdonald7496 Ok - let's lock in "slaters"!👍😁
