    MiniArt have already listed a P-47D-30 kit, which had a different cockpit (no Courrugations in the floor and some detail differences.) The provision of a seperate Fuselage halves on their own sprue trees hints that a Late D (35?) or M (With the finstrake) is also considered and it may also be possible to add wholly new wings and fuselage to make the VLR (Pacific based) N models with new wings and larger finstrake. again using many of these sprues as the basis. An Early (Razorback) 'D' model would only need new canopy parts and fuselage with some adjusted parts for the rear of the cockpit tub. They would be silly not to do all of them at some juncture.
    Sadly the other commenter (2 hands) appears to be right - the wing MGs should be parallel to the ground line, not the wing leading edge. It is a small, but common error in T'Bolt kits that Tamiya have done right. The innermost MG whould be ABOVE the Leading edge and the outermost BELOW the Leading edge ith the 2 middle guns being just above and just below respectively.
    A seperate insert for the guns would cure this - the AM should be able to produce one in 3D printed resin. Simply cut out the panel around the guns on all mainwing parts and replace with a resin insert
    The provision of 2 types of landing gear legs is nice - one set is fully extended, the other shows a heavy load.
    New engine parts would be needed for the Late D/M and N as they used a different type of R-2800 Engine with different gearboxes for the Propeller (as well as different Propellers.)

      oh, thanks for such detailed info.
      I wonder if Eduard will release Brassin for barrels to fix that :)

      The guns don't look like they are parallel with the wing to me, but I can't tell if they are enough offset to be parallel with the ground, though I don't have the kit yet and haven't seen a clear enough view to tell. Though MiniArt will be producing the smooth cockpit floor for later models, unfortunately they modelled the corrugated floor here which is incorrect as it was never used in the Butletop versions. The dorsal fillet was factory fitted from the D-30, but was fitted to some early models in the field, so I hope they will bring out a boxing which will allow us to do, say a D-27 without the dive flaps but with the dorsal fillet. I haven't noticed the protective cover for the tail wheel in the kit.
      The R-2800 used in all the Bubbletops D's was the same -59 and only changed at the M to the C series 14W. The only other thing the engine needs for D's is a different prop governor for the CE prop. Note the ignition harness is incorrect in the kit, as the GE ignition harness has the ignition leads coming out separately but on the kit they come out together, which is a feature of the earlier harness. Also they incorrectly modelled the mangeto, but it looks easy enough to leave that off and glue a piece of plasticard in place. Shame we only get a HS prop in this boxing, but Tamiya give us plenty of spares anyway.
      Really hope they do the N as its much needed, not sure why they have done the N wheels in this kit, possible because at least three warbird D's have N wheels fitted. Would love a Razorback as well.

    Thanks for the review! The details and options look promising but I'm waiting for the "Advanced Kit" version. Open engine, gun bays and PE parts for a small additional cost it's worth the wait...

      I think it is good idea to make versions of the kits, some modelers will definitely make use of it :D

    Looks like a great kit but too many parts for me, i.e. things that can go wrong.. :) I'm sure that in skilled hands it will be a great looking model though. However, the decal options are tempting me, as I live only about 20 minutes by bicycle from Boxted Airfield, where 'Hairless Joe' was based, and about an hour by car from Duxford, where the other P-47 was based. To me both options are very attractive..

      I think amount of parts is the price we pay for the variety in the kit...
      At least it is good that they don't use a lot of small frames as in other armor kits :D

    Greetings my friend, that looks to be a great kit of the P47D, it looks to have a lot of parts, but that will not bother most people, will you be building this kit at some stage? Bedt regards from Australia 👌👍👌👍👌👍

    No understanding the “basic kit” logic behind it apart from commercial. As a modeller you should get as much as you can in the box and then decide if we want to put the extra detail or not… to create another box with everything in it just to drop a small PE and perhaps mask is a joke and waste of resources

    • @dsv
      @dsv  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it is an effort to bring the price lower and make the kit a bit more accessible. ;)

    • @DarrellThompson47
      @DarrellThompson47 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Advanced kit has another sprue in it as well, with the gunbay, separate upper wings , engines details and dropped flaps. The price would put a lot of people of if they didn't want those details so much better to have the two boxings.
