Rogueport Square looks GORGEOUS. Well, as gorgeous as a grimy, crime-ridden, mafia-run port town can be. Also, the light shining through the Doopliss/Piranha Plant stained-glass window gives me life.
You didn't point it out, but the moon isn't visible on the map shown in the trailer! I'm guessing if that specific change is in the game as well it's like that to make that twist not as easy for new players to guess. The moon always being visible on the original map does kinda give it away.
It is kinda neat how there doesn't seem to be any balancing changes so far, apart from the casino. So like, casual playthroughs will be nearly identical, barring the new music, animations, and probably some different superguard timings.
@@DarkLink1996. you could have 5 enemies in 1 battle in the original. Glitz Pit i think is the first time you see it normally but also some pit of 100 trials battles have 5 enemies too
looking at the battle vs red bones and the glitz pit pokeys from gameplay videos, a very interesting balancing change people haven't talked about more is how they actually made it easier to tell if the character in the Back is getting attacked by those types of enemies(dry bone/pokey types), which's very appreciated only question now is if the parabuzzy/spiky parabuzzy will have an easier tell cuz in the original TTYD on gamecube it was very difficult to tell who they were gonna hit

i've always wondered what limitation was stopping them from having the houses unfold in color splash and tok, since in those games entering houses (or even entering part of a map where the screen doesn't scroll) shows a loading screen. sticker star made more sense considering it's an early 3ds game, but now that has me wondering if houses unfolded in the beta version
@@NitwitsWorld Hey, they actually did pretty well considering what they were handed. If I were told I had to make another Sticker Star, I would have quit on the spot; within those _impossible_ restrictions, the end result was actually shockingly good.
I just don't think they wanted to. TTYD's play aesthetic was a meta thing and is not the same as the full on paper aesthetic which is actually in universe so all the wacky things TTYD does like houses unfolding or the pipe animations simply weren't considered to be things that needed to get carried over. I mean just think about it, in TTYD the house isn't actually unfolding, but if that happened in Origami King it would definitely be something the characters comment on.
Honestly the trailers have abated my concerns that they wouldn't do justice to the original game - definitely looking forward to the expanded soundtrack. Sure there are changes I dislike, but also ones that I do like - as to be expected with any remake really.

As for the attack fx badge that disturbs hooktail, it's a frog in the original japanese too. The reason its a cricket in the west is because its based on a japanese frog whos croak doesn't immediately sound like a frog to western audiences. Instead of changing the sound effect used (maybe they couldnt because of some technical limitation during localization?) they changed the text to say its a cricket instead. I suppose this is unifying the text to be closer to the original script, much like how the Vivian stuff is going with the original script too.

I’m still shocked that this remake even happened. Us old schoolers of the Paper Mario series had all but given up hope. Looks incredibly faithful minus the frame rate which meh, usually I care about but in this instance I can just deal with it. Only thing that would have made me happier was if they remade Super Paper Mario with TTYD’s battle system….Bleck and Dimentio might actually be imposing that way lol.
Im sure im going to love the game. And will probably be my game of the year but the dialogue changes will be the deciding factor if it is the definition version. At least for me.😅

French version in the original is very close to the Japanese one on the translation... So it was always a frog noise badge for hooktail... I guess they want to translate the eng version close to the Japanese one. Also... Vivian is a trans man in the french/japanese version so I think it will be the same in the new remake of the eng version. Maybe it wasn't the case before because of the horrible censorship.
I hope so, but Nintendo are cowards when it comes to trans representation in their own games after they are localized. They either have it completely written out in the localized version (like with TTYD involving Vivian), or they cover it up with taking advantage of localized terms for things (like that one female swimmer Trainer in one of the 3DS Pokemon games saying she used to be a Karate King, the Japanese name for the Blackbelt Trainer class, but when the English version was to be made, they changed the terminology to the localized version, and it just happens that detail is missed because people could see "blackbelt" as if she means the martial arts ranking of skills) I really want Nintendo to retain the details of Vivian being trans, as it'd make so much more sense why her sisters bully her so much, because they are transphobes, utter, scum. We're supposed to hate Vivian's sisters. And Vivian being trans would give us more a reason than before, to hate them, for being transphobic towards her.

Switch TTYD is not a remake, it's a remaster. There's literally zero new content, and people have already shown thru character animations being exact copies and gameplay that Nintendo just updated the old code for Switch. Don't be ignorant and lie about it just cause you're excited, thanks.

Backtracking was the worst aspect of TTYD, my favorite Paper Mario game. There's also that purple Toad in Glitzville that was not there in the original TTYD. Some other changes beyond that too. It's a remake, not a remaster. Did you even watch the trailers' footage? There's clearly differences there from the original. I don't lie either, but what I do, is follow logic and reasonable thinking, before impulsive claims. This isn't even me being blind of nostalgia of the original version of TTYD, the evidence is right there! You're the ignorant one

If the game is built around the framerate and reaction times less than 1/30th of a second aren't expected, then you won't have an issue. Ocarina of Time is 20FPS. You know the Kingdom Heart games that got the 60FPS treatment? It broke several bosses because they didn't properly change how the upped FPS would affect everything. Raising the FPS hardly enhances the core gameplay.

You go on a huge wild goose chase trying to find him, only to see after you wasted so much time, that he's back where you left to search for him from

i'm not so interested in all the details of the buildings and other objects being simplified to be like crappy paper products. the gallows was a victim of this, but also other things. most noticeably the metal door rings around rogueport have been replaced with what looks like a piece of cardboard with a picture of a door ring on it. very unimpressive.

You know what the *really* insane detail about the TTYD remake is? Halving the framerate of a 20 year old game.
