Little saw is a beast
I have the XCUO6 and it does a great job. I even use it up to ten inch branches. I'm stepping up to the 36v XCUO8..

great vid, they really help make decisions on which product to get. I notice in the video you dont use it one handed. do you feel it can be used that way comfortably? you mentioned its similar in weight to a top handled gas saw. im trying to decide between the 18v top handle and the 36v. im a little worried the 18v wont handle quite enough for my limbing.
I actually don't use any top handle one handed personally. That being said it is a very well balanced saw because the batteries are mounted under the saw. It all depends on the diameter of limbs you are trying to cut. The 18v really works best in 4" diameter wood and less. The 36v can handle well in an average diameter of 10".
Which model is this, is this the biggest battery top saw Makita makes, and how do you like it now/still??? I have the Makita XCU06T 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless (5.0Ah) 10" Top Handle Chain Saw Kit and I just love it, it will do more than what I bought it for, I am VERY IMMPRESSED with it's power and overall performance...I was an electrician in the late 70s and decade of the 80s, I remember when Makita first starting making cordless drills, that's all we used was Makita back then...
Yes this is the 36V top handle. It's great. It will be even better when we get the 1/4 pitch bars for it!

14" Bar and Chain, 3/8" LP pitch, .043" gauge. This is the stock bar that comes with.
Thank you for the Video! How Many minutes/hours can you work with the Makita 2x18V Chainsaw Till you have to change batteries? And is it possible to regulate the speed by pulling softer at the Gas Button?
Hey Tom! It's hard to put a true run time because it really depends on the size of cuts and the type of wood you are cutting. I have finished small removals with a set of batteries. It really drains fast when you are chunking down wood though. In reference to this video I cut maybe two dozen various size cuts in oak and I don't think it dropped a bar of charge. Maybe 1 bar. These saws are really built well. The Makita chainsaws are becoming very popular! Now we just need to the 1/4 pitch bar and chain for it! ~Casey

When are the bars coming? Will it oil with a stihl 1/4 bar?
Still waiting on the bars. They will end up fitting chainsaws that have the A041 bar mount. I know it will fit Makita and Echo. I think stihl has a different bar mount.

No this would be the XCU08PT which is the 14" bar model
I like the electric! Have you compared it to the battery saws from husky and stihl?
The nice thing about comparing the saws is you need to look at the batteries and the motors mainly. By spec Makita has a better battery setup in this 36V model with a 5Ah (they also offer a 6Ah). The one downside to this saw is it's running a 3/8 low pro pitch while Stihl for sure runs a 1/4 pitch, not sure about Husky. It makes quite the difference and that is why I will be offering a kit for these Makita's soon. One thing to consider in regards to Makita is they have been making cordless tools for a long time. So I believe they have a potential lead when it comes to batteries and electric motors. Makita is worth the shot.
