    Holy crap, the difference in brightness and colors is insane. I do see the light halos being way more noticeable so it wouldn't surprise me this is why they limited the brightness (that and battery consumption, perhaps even thermals).

    Dude! Cheers! 2 weeks in and I had given up. Much of my note writing is done in the evening, in the recliner, while watching the tube. My nearly 60 year old eyes were not having it at all! this damned thing was headed back for the refund. I was certain there had to be a way to do this, and a quick G* put me right here.. so thank you, immensely. I'm glad I'm comfortable in command line and Linux though.. or this might have been a little daunting.
    You rock for putting this up, and off I went to share kudos on the reddit sub as well.

    Waw waw waw that solves all my problems 😮 I was on the verge of returning it because of the lack of brightness. I hope they come up with an official solution otherwise a lot of people will end up returning it which is unfortunate. Thanks for letting us know.

    That's an amazing hack! Thank you so much. I was going to return it just because of the low front light. I'm always reading but turning off all lights before I sleep. Now, there is no reason to return it. It's time to keep it!!!

    • @ChalidRaqami

      To exit developer mode you need to go through the recovery process with the Desktop app: support.remarkable.com/s/article/Software-recovery
      I tried it before posting the video and it worked without any issues with the lighthack in place. But you need an active Internet connection on the PC for it to work.

      When you enter the password, it won't show you that you entered something. But if you entered the whole password and hit Enter you can continue.
      If you have problems with the password itself and it says it's wrong, try rebooting the Remarkable Paper Pro. I had issues with that as well in the past, but a reboot solved it every time.

      @@hilmyakatsuki1665 The IP 10.11.99.1 is hardcoded as the default for all Remarkable devices when connecting via USB. The tablet assigns itself 10.11.99.1 and runs a DHCP server to give the computer an IP in the 10.11.99.x range. I’ve tested this on Windows 10, 11, Linux, and with both the RPP and RM2-it worked the same every time. I haven’t checked what happens if there’s a conflict, though.

    How to void the warranty on your brand new device, the video.
    I don't get these new colour e-ink displays. The whole point was that you didn't need active lighting, so the thing would be super-efficient with the electricity it used.
    Just buy an iPad at this point..

    • @enlightenment00
      @enlightenment00 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      First, you can disable it and make a reset to keep the warranty. Second, the colors on this device are amazing , and the light comes super handy, no need to be sitting next to a side lamp, and it's eye friendly, that's the whole point of E-ink devices, ipad is just like laptop screen and strains the eye.
