Holy crap, the difference in brightness and colors is insane. I do see the light halos being way more noticeable so it wouldn't surprise me this is why they limited the brightness (that and battery consumption, perhaps even thermals).
Dude! Cheers! 2 weeks in and I had given up. Much of my note writing is done in the evening, in the recliner, while watching the tube. My nearly 60 year old eyes were not having it at all! this damned thing was headed back for the refund. I was certain there had to be a way to do this, and a quick G* put me right here.. so thank you, immensely. Waw waw waw that solves all my problems 😮 I was on the verge of returning it because of the lack of brightness. I hope they come up with an official solution otherwise a lot of people will end up returning it which is unfortunate. Thanks for letting us know.

I have the same problem. Pasting the shorter commands works without any problems. However, when I try to paste this long command, some parts do not show up in my text window. Pasting the text into an editor is possible though.
I might make one in the future and link it here, but here you can find the info on how to exit the developer mode (and factory reset the device): support.remarkable.com/s/article/Software-recovery

To exit developer mode you need to go through the recovery process with the Desktop app: support.remarkable.com/s/article/Software-recovery I tried it before posting the video and it worked without any issues with the lighthack in place. But you need an active Internet connection on the PC for it to work.
Great video, thank you for the awesome tip!! Did anyone else have an issue with CMD? I copy and pasted ssh root@10.11.99.1 and the next line asks for a password but then won’t let me type anything. Thank you for any help and have a great day!

When you enter the password, it won't show you that you entered something. But if you entered the whole password and hit Enter you can continue. If you have problems with the password itself and it says it's wrong, try rebooting the Remarkable Paper Pro. I had issues with that as well in the past, but a reboot solved it every time.
