I was 12 years old when my parents got their new 1967 4-door landau. I remember it very well, too. Unlike the 1964 2-door it replaced, I got my own door!
God what a GORGEOUS CAR! Hard to believe we ever made such beautiful automobiles...what happened? Love the super low slung body style....hideaway headlight❤ everything about this car❤
What a great promotional item for Thunderbird. It was a beautiful car ba k then. To bad today we don't have nice cars around anymore, just same old , they all look alike suvs. Great video!
What a terrific video...and it is sheer class for Thunderbird in the first segment to highlight the features of a bare-bones non-optioned example. This shows that not only was the 1967 the absolute best of the series of this body from 1967 to 1971, but 1967 was also a year that could rest on its basic good qualities without having to show off optional extras.
I agree that the 67 was the best of this generation. The large instrument pods & the levers on the dash gave it a jet aircraft feel that the 68-71 couldn't quite match. I also prefer the 2 door hardtop over either landau model because of the metallic dash being more aircraft like & the cleaner exterior styling
Great advertisement! I traded a troublesome 1967 Toronado in on a new 1969 Thunderbird 2-dr Hardtop (sans Landau vinyl top) quite similar to the one first seen in the ad. Complete with that stunning interior, bucket seats and console and... yes.. hand-cranked windows! Its rich-looking aqua vinyl interior looked beautiful with a Lime Gold exterior. My Dad was so impressed with it that he traded in his 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix in on a summer closeout 1969 Thunderbird loaded.4-door Landau Brougham. Whilst a Texas springtime hailstorn pummeled my 2-door, we kept that super reliable and beautiful 4-door for 29 years. JJS
That is awesome. I owned a '65 T'bird, my first car. My parents didn't allow me to a 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A. Mom worked at a insurance company, lol. I took dad to see it, he said son, " You Mother KNOWS what that T/A means" . So my Parents bought me the T'bird down the street from our neighbors with my saved up money for 850 bucks. It had 70k miles on it in 1973. Loved that car. I wish I still had it. But😃 drank gas like water! I think it was my parents idea all the time to keep me broke and at home.
A friend bought a ‘67 T-Bird coupe used in the early 1970’s. I remember how smooth and quiet it rode. One thing Ford should have done is made the 428 cu in standard for ‘67. The 430 cu in was standard in the Buick Riviera in ‘67.
Yes. Buick Riviera, Olds Toronado, and Cadillac Eldorado. The 390 just wasn't quite up to those levels of the GM cars. But, in 1968, Ford finally got smart with the standard 429.
Excellent, wish they would of included the fabulous brake/turn signal rear lite feature as well as the unique int lamp features... No worries you'll get it right nxt commercial....
The Thunderbirds in this video have the very very rare front pre-production "Fender Fins"! The early promotional 1/24th scale models had them also. I think that they look great on the car. I actually reproduced them several years ago. th-cam.com/video/EzuxgAkcTfU/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/NB8J6bQU87w/w-d-xo.html
You can tell it's a swanky car by the music... Not everyone was sold on power windows in the 60s.. Cadillac Calais did not have standard power windows until '68, and most, if not all, of the upper-mediums did not come with power windows, save the very top trim level. Thunderbird's power windows cost $104.00, which is almost a grand in 2024 dollars.
@@matrox The TBird was a luxury car tho ours had power windows. Certainly for the ad campaigns they should have shown it with power windows😂 Even our ‘59 TBird had power windows!
Roll up windows on a 67 Thunderbird? I think by then everyone who bought a Thunderbird got the power ones...if not then what's the point? Get a Galaxy instead

OPEC, the Japanese, and Jimmy Carter.
@@dagr382 Don't forget the worst of all- insurance companies.
I was surprised to see a non-power window equipped car here. Love that Tilt-a-Way steering wheel though - such a neat, attention getting feature!
I so wish that we could buy beautiful cars like this again.

Pontiac Grand Prix was a good car too!
All those young peeps in their 80s now.😔 They lived long lives.
beautiful, a real car
4:28 That 64' is beautiful. 55-57 and 64-66' The most Beautiful T-Birds of all.
What a beauty! Nuff said.

The most luxurious Ford ever made. The 4 door version was basically a less expensive Lincoln Continental.
She puts her seatbelt on ❤
When we continued to watch the T-Bird grow up.
Back in the day Thunderbird was the real deal personal luruxy fully loaded just like the Lincoln Mk3
2:35 only 3 miles on the odometer!
That being said I still would've bought the 67 Thunderbird over the Eldorado. Less $ & a much better ride
😍😍😍😍😍

To think that FoMoCo is almost an SUV company these days...
Why didn’t she ski across ?
At about 2 minutes the driver manually raises the window!
Gorgeous. Look at the ugly cars of today.

WTF’s up with the manual windows in a TBird?😂
Almost all cars except luxury had manual windows. Power was an option.

By spring the paint will be bubbling.
By gosh! It's the salt on the snowy roads, don't ya know.
It depends if they ordered the optional Ziebart rust proofing. Hardly anybody ordered it back then.
One of the ugliest cars ever
