      Thank you, my friends. I appreciate the sentiments! His birthday is coming up on Sept. 27, and I'll be honoring him by listening to "Souvenirs..." and "Ecailles de lune," followed by his other favorites, which contain *Fen* "Epoch" and *Ne Obliviscaris* "Portal of I".
      Michael was one of the *nicest* people you could ever meet. And he would never dismiss any group's music; he gave everything a chance at least once. Hell, he even attended a *Nickelback* concert a friend invited him to. Now _that_ is a level of nice I didn't even think was possible. 😁
      But anyway, thank you once again for your heartfelt sentiments!

      @@wandabhala8516heh. If that's what you think for movies and music, you're overestimating us. Although we do have Alcest, the other project of Neige called Les Discrets and Gojira, we are remarquably bad at doing good quality music compared to even the italians or the brits. Or the scandinavians. I sadly can't think a lot about Africa, but musically, you're still probably above us too.

      @@_Stroda I hear a bit of shoegaze, black metal (ofc) and stoner metal/rock. I wouldn't say the musicality is technical but I think from a production and song writing perspective it's got it's own complexities and is all layered together expertly.

    • @cattybound2011
      @cattybound2011 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I, for one, think it's really interesting how such an extreme genre as black metal can gradually morph via atmospheric black, and end up crossing over into post-rock and shoegaze (one of the silliest names for a music style ever). It may not all be linear, but it is all connected somehow, and for a universe of music, that is pretty astounding, don't you think? 🙂

    • @anicola2
      @anicola2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@cattybound2011 I agree, and this is probably why I am not that interested in TRVE BM per se. It does produce great music, but by choosing to limit itself to a perceived golden age's pure sound, it is often missing out on some of the potential of the genre. That the rawest, most aggressive and hateful music can generate a cathartic, near shamanic feeling of fusion with the universe, is an incredible experience.

    There's so much in Alcest's music that can't solely be expressed with words.
    Something unique emanates from these notes. Something healing and comforting at the same time.
    Listening to this brings me a total peace of mind.
    All I can do is to dance to every note, to every kick of Winterhalter's drums, to every singing of Neige...
    But Alcest is unique to me by the simple fact that they enlighten my deepest emotions and unearth the very roots of my mind.

    Ça fait trois jours que j'ai découvert cette chanson, trois jours que je ne m'en lasse pas. La première écoute m'as mis les larmes aux yeux et m'as réchauffé le cœur. Bizarrement, les autres écoutes me font le même effet. Cette chanson est juste sublime. Tout est parfait. Je suis peut-être pas très subjective mais les sentiments parlent à ma place je crois. Cette chanson me transperce et m'emmène dans un autre monde. Elle me donne envie de vivre ! Une œuvre d'art, autant la musique que le clip vidéo qui est très poignant. ♥
