Dropping food on the customer two times on a row is possible. In fact, I had one horribly clumsy or evil waiter, who managed to drop food THREE times in a row on my sim. If only there was an option to complain about the service...
Sims CAN complain about the service but I think its just an automated action that happens - not something you can direct your sim to do. I've both been "Complained at" by a customer as a restaurant owner after my Hostess was taking to long to seat people because she was on the phone, and also as a customer dinning on an owned lot I've witnessed the staff being yelled at by other customers.

If your Sim see's the Charlatan and he already has pickpocketed them before, you can make your Sim do "Fisticuffs" to try and get their money back. If they lose, he takes more money. The music is great too during the fisticuffs fight :p
So Sims can randomly burp when they're eating, I thought it was a funny detail that if people hear it they giggle! Also I had a visitor walk onto the lot when a sim was leaving in the car and the sim looked at them in the car and waved them off!

Sims 2 and 3 have a very unique and somewhat chaotic atmosphere, Sims are super interactive and get up to all sorts of fun stuff even on their own and Maxis put a lot of effort into their old games so they're more enjoyable imo. You should definitely try the old games, they're still heaps of fun
Vampires will burn in the sunlight if there are windows on the house and can turn into bats which you can actually see fly with realistic sounds. Sometimes while talking to an NPC there will be autonomous action called Network and if your sim has no job, will be offered one a few levels ahead regardless of skills or friends. NPCs also can give your sim a present in their inventory which is usually a TV or a computer and a message saying it is a free sample of a new product.
if you have a job they might offer you one anyway, they can ask to give your number to a friend they think you'd get along with or set you up on a date, and you get other sims calling you, like hey my friend mentioned you were fun do you want to hang out
Although the sims 2 doesn't have story progression (Like, for example, if you go to a restaurant lot and stay there for days, when you come back, you will be back at the same time you have left before) The only lot with progression is the university campus. If you go the campus instead of going to class (or stay too many hours there until it's time to your class), the game notifies you that you missed class. When I noticed that, I got a little bit surprised. I wasn't expecting for this.
I mentioned this in another thread but the Munchiebots miss their old friends from college. A little thought bubble pops up and shows the people who paid them attention, the cheerleaders and mascots.

Well, I founded quite strange that some of them must go to the final test IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, like 01:00 am... which professor is so sadic? XD And they are not even studying astrophysics nor anything like that. Maybe this is due to the fact that a few sims went to community lots and other didn't, not sure. Usually sims that have this late hour tests are those that stay home
Do waiters get clumsy if it’s one of your Sims doing it with low level talent badges if you do it open for business and nightlife installed other than the restaurant catching fire if the chef’s cooking skill is too low?
I believe regular waiters drop plates on your Sim if they have a low relationship with them. I've never had my Sim own a restaurant in OFB so I'm not sure what would make the employees or a controllable Sim drop a tray, according to SimsWiki they benefit from having a high Body skill but I'm not sure if having a low Body skill would make them drop the tray.

i think it's body skill related, if i am running a restaurant in the sims 2 i notice my sims with higher body skill are less likely to drop stuff
