- My LAST first day of school EVER!!!!! Where does the time go?! Sharing a first day of school vlog as I begin my senior year of college as a study abroad student in Florence, Italy. I will graduate in December from Kent State University with a Fashion Merchandising degree and minor in Fashion Media.
Today we're sharing a peek into our first day (just one class on Thursdays!) and an easy afternoon around the house. Plus, we're having a girls night out in Florence, going to the bars here for the first time. So exciting!

Hi McKenzie! I went to study abroad in Florence in 2018 and have some GREAT restaurant and activity recommendations if you want to check them out:
LUNCH
- Osteria dei Procconsolo (in a street behind the Duomo, best homemade food, my recommendation: Truffle Raviolli or Lasagna)
- Gatto a la Volpe (great pick for delivery service, my recommendation is Penne ala Vodka)
- Osteria Santo Spirito (great for lunch or dinner, great atmosphere, my recommendation: Truffle Gnocchi)
- Gusto Pizza (pizza is not Florence's speciality but this is the best one)
DINNER
- Acqua al 2 (more for dinner but they have a signature dish a filet in blueberry sauce that is out of this world)
- La Giostra (this could be your fancy dinner pick, I actually lived in the apartment above it, is in Borgo Pinti Street, very. cozy and everything is delicious, my recommendation and signature dish from them: Pear Raviolli)
- Nobile Bistro (very common and nice, didn't eat but drank coffee regularly here)
STREET FOOD
- All'Antico Vinao (these. are the paninis you see. people. eating on the. street in Piazza della Signora, there's always a long line but they're classic and delicious, I recommend this to be your lunch if you ever do a picnic)
- I Fratellini (another street paninis but in my opinion better than Antico, they are close to the Duomo and way way more delicious)
- Voglia di Kebab (best Kebabs I've tried, also close to my old apartment below an arch.. very close to the bars zone, great for after party munchies)
GELATOS
- La Carraia
- Gelateria dei Neiri (my favorite is Cremino di nocciola, basically nutella)
I hope you can visit some of them! They're very typical and all absolutely delicious.. Also if you want any day trip. or activities recommendations respond to this comment! Florence is my favorite city and lived there for a while also! I miss it so much, hope you have an awsome time!!
Hi’ Maybe a weird question but isn’t Florence to long away from any beach?
It must be a very big cultural different going from United States to Italy. For me it will also be a cultural different going from my country(Denmark) in Scandinavian(North Europe) to staying in Italy and it’s not because of the difference in the weather.😂😂It’s because our cultural differences from being Danish and Italian.
I wish you 3 girls a wonderful year in Italy and it’s good you have each other because I’m pretty sure it will be hard to be in another country for a whole year.
