In Beni Sueif and Minya, Upper Egypt, the Khair Ardna project empowers local soybeans smallholder farmers with innovative and sustainable practices. A collaboration between Solidaridad Network and Danone Ecosystem, this initiative addresses critical challenges like climate change and resource management, equipping farmers with tools and knowledge to boost productivity and reduce costs.
Key achievements of the project include the introduction of integrated crop management, the use of Biological Nitrogen Fixation Bacteria to reduce nitrogen fertilizer use by 85%, and improved irrigation techniques that enhance crop yields while conserving resources. Additionally, training in marketing strategies enables farmers to secure better prices for their produce, increasing their incomes and fostering economic resilience.
