Texas Tech Fans, Joey Mcguire is the real deal and he will win at Tech. Give him a couple of years and Tech will be playing for the Big12 Championship. I'm a Baylor Grad and would trade Aranda straight up for Mcguire, and I love Aranda.
Don't listen to all the smack negative talk below! You have us on the right path, Coach! Some the comments below talk about how there is a "curse" on our football program, and yet they curse it by not giving it a chance. Lighten up! We haven't even played a game yet! Look forward to the new season.
If you grew up in Seagraves or Tahoka, Lubbock is the big city.
I hate to be that guy but I’m gonna do it. As a red raider fan, I’ve heard this all before. Is it wrong to hype us up, no. Is it wrong to want your team to actually win on both sides of the ball, no. All I’m saying is, less talk, more action.

While I agree with the comment to a degree… Joey hasn’t coached a single game in Red & Black, and has done nothing but do the exact opposite of talk. He’s got us recruiting great, and the guys are working hard.
That was a really dumb take. More action when he hasn't even had a chance to get on the field? Good gosh, what is he supposed to do?

Although us red raiders have been let down time and time again, i think the hype around McGuire can be justified. The last coach that had this kind of hype had to have been leach. Don’t forget that we are coming off of a much needed win against an SEC opponent, and I think a bunch of these players have something that they want to prove.
Speaking of reigns I'm assuming that your mascot has the best $ can buy b/c I haven't heard anything about more tech mascots killing themselves instead of having to watch another second of lubbock athletics!
They ( New coaches) say the same thing over and over again. We have only had a few who could exalt this program. We had a really good run with Spike and Mike back to back. Then Kent Hance took it upon his self to destroy our football program. Kent Hance has two killer moments in his professional and historic career. He beat George W. Bush for a congressional seat and he was able to Fire Leach for not kissing his ass!!! Can McGuire overcome the Hance Curse??? Honestly my money was on Kingsbury. I was wrong. Maybe a no name high school guy can do it? I have my doubts.

Why is there hype about around joey McGuire getting hired at Texas tech and not about Jeff traylor at UTSA ?

I grew up in Lubbock and for the most part I’d have to agree with you. But his recruiting class for 2023 says different.
If texas, aggie, lsu, alabama, arkansas, ole miss, Ohio state, Michigan, usc, Oklahoma, Oregon, Miami, Florida state, clemson, or any other big program want west Texas kids there's nothing tech can do to keep them

I'm done with TTU Football, this program was killed a long time ago (thanks to administration and Kent Hance). Recruiting only west Texas Players only will only shoot ourselves in the foot and only gives us tunnel vision and shutting out potential prospects from around the country. This coach is just like all other TTU coaches from the past, want to start up some hype and never live up to promises. Lets all face it TTU Football is dead, this is coming from a die hard TTU Red Raider. That is hard and hurts to say. There is alot that needs to be proven and I hope it is proven. Bye the way Coach this isn't High School! smh!

Have you not seen anything? Dude took the job and took the recruiting class up about 50 spots in about a month. He hasn't stopped to keep finding and getting good players. Troll

Im sure he means keeping the p5 west texas talent that usually leaves like brenen thompson, kobie mackensie, king doerue etc….
