As a major Dune fan, I felt that one in my *soul* there. If there's ever been a case study for "How to not understand the themes of a work of fiction" it'd be on people who don't get what Dune is all about.
there's people who believe the original star trek was conservative.
@@tsm688@tsm688 I mean, it was about a bunch of dudes in a spaceship engaging in some very pseudo-colonialist actions.
@@firelordeliteast6750 Very often subverted. In the Gorn one, the Captain forces himself to realize the evil aliens have a very legit grievance... Same again with the Horta episode. And the very worst villains are almost always insane humans, not evil monsters.
It's possible to give Star Trek a conservative reading but it must concentrate on a few specific things and ignore a lot of progressive ones.

I appreciate the reference to the comic book industry. I think it was with the creation of a Superboy Prime who basically acted as a mass-murdering entitled fan-boy, that I realized, "Oh. They HATE the people who still give them money."
Yep and so do we! At this rate both sides hate each other

As Cinema Snob pointed out. The 'Halloween franchise has (3) Halloween 2's, since it has not one, but two different reboots.
Yeah, they done jumped the reboot shark with that franchise.
It has an infographic on Wikipedia trying to string all the films together, it's *that* bad.
@@eatatjoe there are two reboots to Tarzan the ape man, a very loose adaptation of the first novel in the entire ERB Inc Tarzan canon. Another one, released near Christmas 1981, featured #southernfried #fanservice heartthrob Miles O’Keeffe in his first major onscreen role as Tarzan.
The Godzilla franchise is even worse. Theres like 10 reboots
@@arte0021 Good point. I'm not sure if this new Monsterverse (where Godzilla is nominally the "hero") picks up from ANY of the older movies, and most the human characters/exposition-dumpers keep talking about a past with these monsters that we the audience haven't seen yet.
Can I call them "kaiju", or does Pacific Rim have that name locked up? And when will they make a 3rd PR movie?
@@louisduarte8763 no monsterverse is not connected to the japanese godzilla movies and kaiju is a very old japanese term and not in any way the property of Pacific Rim
I think this video finally made me understand the whole “so bad that it’s good” spiel. This is because the video is good, but it tries so hard to be bad that it somehow reverts back to being good in a twisted way, and I love it. This is a good video because it tires hard to be bad and it works.
JP demonstrates everything that's bad about today's movies better than I could ever have hoped to.
Reboots can be pretty sucky sometimes, but you know what never needs a reboot?
The love triangle!
I want one, but only, if its in the spirir of th love triangle, not superficial XD
Me: Luckily, The Pensuke Files is original, thanks goodness.
This specific episode of TWA is probably the most ingeniously designed of all of them; it’s practically a work of art. The lack of background music was a touch of genius. That really conveys the brokenness the episode was trying to convey.
Edit:: okay, there was background music. It was just very faint. I couldn’t hear it because I was in a slightly noisy room.

Another thing ruined by bad reboots
I can't believe this video hits as hard as the original even though it's a reboot
it would be funny if this was just the reboot video but with like 1 extra character/detail hidden somewhere

Another wonderful and sharp video.
Three years! He's been waiting three years to make this joke! Every video since the first reboot one was just him biding his time!
This video was hilarious and so true. I also had to bite back a snort when I saw a Batgirl in the trash. (seriously, how bad was it that it got the 'the day the clown cried' treatment?!)
Boy, in my opinion, 41 entertainment’s Tarzan license was terminated and cut short, for obvious reasons.
It’s because the (now gone) posters of its scrapped then upcoming tv series Tarzan and Jane: Best Friends in the Jungle were all unknowingly plagiarised from the Disney instalments and Nick’s Dora the explorer franchise.
It wasn't bad at all. It was simply not what the new management wanted. It was a HBOMax exclusive film, and the new management did not want to invest in that, and had a short window where it could bin films and get a tax writeoff, so it did that with a few of them. Batgirl was the highest profile one, but they cancelled a Scoob sequel and a couple other projects that weren't as far along.
@@alexandredesbiens-brassard9109 I kept hearing the new management didn't like Batgirl because it was too street-level and not very action-heavy, and they wanted more DC films that were big budget event movies because they wanted to compete with Marvel.
As someone who's currently in the process of not only reduxing but overhauling a wholeass book worth of material, I feel like, if a reboot or remake is just "the original but worse", it has no reason to exist.
But that would presume big studios belong to the order of knights of integrity!

If only bait-and-switch really meant "we baited you in, here's a free Nintendo Switch", then it'd be totally worth it.
I spent the first 4 minutes doubting whether I had already seen this video or not. Nice work!
I cant believe that Im more invested in the characters of the TWA extended universe than I was in any of the characters of any movies in recent memory
I'm So glad Lens Flare survived that horrible Trainwreak, good thing their career survived.
Dunkleosteus was a seven meter long armoured predatory placoderm fish from the late Devonian period (380 to 359 million years ago). It had a bony head, massive jaws and in place of teeth blade like extensions of the skull.
And its name sounds like something a stage magician would say. "For my next trick, I will make the armoured fish disappear! Dunkleosteus, Sacabambaspis, ALAKAZAM!"

To be honest, I think most perpetual ongoing shounen need a reboot to iron out all the inconsistencies, cut or combine under utilized characters, fix plot holes,... Most of these big issues aren't very noticeable when you are writing/editing 1 chapter at a time in a 500 plus chapters manga
