I finally took the plunge and followed your direction on highlighting a halo amount of hair to my crown. It has almost been a year and I am so happy. I get so many compliments on my grey hair. I am not completely grey and still have brown at the bottom but it is growing out beautifully. Thank you so much!!!!
So appreciate how you explained the process so well. I believe I am am just going to let it grow out naturally. It is just hair. I feel liberated already. Thanks again!!❤️
I transitioned with highlights and lowlights and my transition was a lot less painless, thought it took longer to be completely color free. Higlights added warmth that was too "golden" for me but no skunk line! So worth it. Having a skilled stylist who is ON BOARD with your transition is key, and keeping a chic, cute cut helps immensely. I firmly believe it's an emotional process as well as physical, and that makes the first 3-4 months doubly difficult. Now I will never go back to the box :)
This is where I am now, I haven’t had my re growth (mostly gray) colored since November of 2021 and have had 2 highlights and toner on old color (plus 2 haircuts) since. I’ve got a ways to go but am truly looking forward to being color free! Eventually lol. My natural color is like a level 5/6 brown and as you see in my photo it’s now partly silver and waaay blonde. It’s an emotional process for sure but I look forward to it. At 52 I was ready!
Thank you . I'm a hairstylist who is starting to grey and I'm almost all plat blonde with dark level 5/6 natural regrowth. I love your explanation and reasoning. Thank you
OMG I have watched so many different videos leading up to my hair appointment on Tuesday. You answered everything I was questioning in one video. Thank you thank you so much.
Hi Julie! I am so grateful for your videos! I just used this approach on Wednesday night, and I am fairly pleased with the results. My one suggestion would be to put 3-4 of your essential videos in a separate playlist so that people could find exactly what they need to in order to transition at home. After applying the bleach incorrectly, I found the video where you answered questions, including the one about how to properly mix bleach. Lol. I now have a new appreciation for hair colorists being meticulous!!! Thank you, thank you. And thank you for mentioning the Almighty, whom I pray blesses you and every hair on your head! :-)
Thank you! Yes I haven't posted a video in forever my MIL has dementia and she's my priority right now. But I love answering the comments and plan to get my butt back to work soon. Thank you for watching my super amateur videos ❤️
Thank you! My industry isn't forced to be trained, which is a huge problem because there is so much science and not creativity, in order to correctly do hair. Please feel free to contact me for any help along the way juliethehairapist@gmail.com or mt Facebook page.
I love your hair!!! Beautiful! I'm 99.9 white hair but like my picture, I dye it to my natural medium dark brunette. I love seeing women with long white/silver hair!!! I wish I had you here to help me transition. I can't stand my bright white line against this dark brown.
OMG...your hair is exactly my end result hairstyle goal! I’m 16 mos in. My 15 yr hairstylist did exactly what u suggested. I was a dark brunette. She was wonderful. I had a bit of breakage but the highlighting seriously made it so much easier to transition. Thanks for the suggestion to all. It truly works.
So happy your out of the line of demarcation. If you still have some dry areas from the bleach, olive oil on the dry ends, leave on overnight and wash out in the morning. It will moisturize and calm down the breakage.
@Shalom Body and Soul Wellness so sorry for the late response, it's my son's Senior year of high school and he has me 🏃♀️. Thank you for your support and watching my super amateur videos. Please feel free to contact me for any help along the way juliethehairapist@gmail.com
Hi Julie I am so happy I found your channel. I have been debating on how to go about going gray gracefully. I am excited to try this on my own from home. Most of my grey is in the front but around the top and the back of my head, it's still dark. I Love the cut and color of your hair. 😍 I have been watching your channel for a couple of weeks now and have learned a lot. I have been neglecting my hair since 2018 and have been wearing it in a pony tail or a bun. So I'm looking for a better happy positive change. A lot of people start from the inside out. But I'm the type that looks in the mirror and if I like what I see then it makes me feel good about myself. Gosh, I'm rambling on like if I was actually in therapy. Lol,😂🤣😂 Well let me stop here and simply say, Thank you for your expert advice and for listening to your friend and creating a TH-cam channel. 💕🙏
Thanks for this information. I'm a natural redhead and I'm still dyeing. Reluctantly! I'm used to seeing myself with this warm tone. When the color grows out in front - every week - it's white not silver. I'm having issues seeing how I can transition as I don't believe I can stomach the grow-out. I'll continue to watch your videos to see what options I have for starting this process myself at home.
@creature57 I would love to help you with your transition. The easiest and fun way for you to transition is temporary color that somewhat matches your old artificial color. Yes you will still have to color but, you can do it yourself, you won't need to color as often and you can change your red colors for fun. I recently did red on my silver and loved it. Please feel free to contact me for any help along the way juliethehairapist@gmail.com
I am a brunette, my roots grew quite a bit through lock down, decided to go blond to help with transition. Regret that as hair so dry now & yellowing, but nervous to do purple shampoo in case it dries it even more. Wish I had someone like you near me in the UK. Your hair is beautiful by the way, I would be over the moon if mine ends up looking like yours.
I can still help you and it's a good thing you put blonde in. Can you send me pics through my Facebook page or email jjjcozzo@gmail.com and then I can give you better advice. Also I know people in the UK that can help with products that are there.
Thank you so much for these tips!! Im a new stylists. I just did a highlight to bring up some lightness and put a purple navyish direct dye on my sister who’s going grey. After watching your video in SOOO excited for her next appointment where I can apply what you’ve taught❤️❤️❤️ sometimes you need someone to spell it out for you like you did for me😊😊🍻🍻
Thank you for watching! I love your teachable spirit, please feel free to contact me for any help about hair. I have 30 years of experience with all hair types and I love color my fellow hair sister. ♥
Thank you so much for your wisdom!!! I am going for it👩🦳 and highlights is the direction I was searching. Your hair is beautiful 😍 love the chunky white "money piece" I look forward to your guidance on how to do the front. I'm trying to be patient until I can go to a professional but I think I can do front highlights. I'm concerned about product options since I'm not a professional 😯 thank you again for great info and making grey look so good!!! I turned 54 last December and I'm embracing the silver 🤍 just dont have the patience, lol!!
I completely understand about the patience! You can absolutely do the money piece and I can help you. Here are links for products you will need. You can use other brands as long as its the same type of product. Send me pics of your hair through my Facebook page or email juliethehairapist@gmail.com and I can give you better advice. Your hair is gorgeous... I am brunette and almost 4 months in soon... I am doing cold turkey... I want to try the silver highlights, but, afraid of damaging my hair... does this technique damage hair???.. break off!?... thank you in advance!!!so happy I found your channel!💜💜💜💜💜
Thank you SO much for making this video. I have an apt this week to get highlights done but was starting to get a nervous about the whole process. You explained it so well. I now look forward to getting this done and no longer dying it myself, but letting my natural gray show through. Thanks again and take care!
Thank you for your support and yes you ate going to love blending the line and having your own beautiful color. If you need any help along the way please feel free to contact me.
How do I have my hair cut/styled like yours. My silver and dark hairs are similar to yours...still growing it out. Have it shoulder length now. Getting there. God bless you!!
Hi JoAnn, I use a flat iron, because our silver hair is light and has streaks we are like a blonde highlight we need to smooth it out first to see our beautiful color. I style my hair in this video. Thank you for watching. ❤ th-cam.com/video/WAXkOKrnuHk/w-d-xo.html
I'm a redhead, and I have darker grey roots and, same as you, some dramatic whitish streaks underneath at the sides of my head. So bleaching on top of my head will just make that line even worse. I still can't work out why it's so dark on top of my head. At first I thought they were brown roots and my hair had changed colour, but no, they're just a dark grey. :/ I also have the two light blonde streaks either side of my face which I can definitely colour to silver.
You definitely only want to lighten the areas that are white that's the best way to blend the line of demarcation. You can also use a temporary red on your new growth as it grows out if you don't want to highlight. Please feel free to contact me for any help along the juliethehairapist@gmail.com ❤️
I used to dye my hair, and wanted to use highlights to transition to my natural hair… I’m still about 2/3 brown. The problem came from the stylist trying to lift my dyed hair all the way up to ‘very light’… I’ve got a lot of hair, but it’s fine. As a result, no matter how much I condition, and am so careful when brushing my hair, I’ve got lots of breakage. I love the idea of highlighting, but am currently afraid to do it again. 😂
Unfortunately my industry is highly under trained which will result in breakage. But it wasn't the bleach it was the bleach being used incorrectly. 8 can help you get your hair back to life and some ideas for transitioning your if you send me pics of your hair through my Facebook page or email juliethehairapist@gmail.com.
@Awilda Mercado so sorry for the late response, it's my son's Senior year of high school and he has me 🏃♀️. Thank you for your support and watching my super amateur videos ❤
What about low lights for salt ‘n pepper hair transitioning? I don’t want to go light, just enhance and blend my salty/pepper look. Thanks for focusing on the redheads and brunettes.
Kathy, I'm not a fan of low-lighting because it adds darkness and most people are much lighter at the scalp than the artificial color they were using. Also I'm extending the time to transition BUT there's no right or wrong, perfect example is low-lighting it will absolutely help blend the line.
I have light brown hair that has been highlighted and my middle part is now coming in fairly gray. I am wanting to add highlights to transition into my new hair color gray, and I just bought a smoky silver highlight but now I am conflicted on whether to do the blonde highlights like you said or do the smoky silver. I’m thinking I am going to go with the blonde highlights and then I’m going to get my hair cut shorter. Hopefully this is the best choice. I am fearful that I will have yellowish streaks as it grows out but I have to do something.
Thank you yes, I have a giant dark patch in the front that I love now but when I was coloring I had to color every 10 days because I looked like I had a bald spot when it would grow out. 🤣❤
I have hair like yours was with dark brn and silver. And white. But my old colored hair definitely a red/brn. I am a little confused about what color to highlight so that it blends better from the crown. I did use a dark gray toner on my old colored hair and it cooled the red/brn down to a cooler brn. I would love to see you do someone with the old red/brn hair with new growth like yours blu/brn and silver.
I just did a transition on red brown hair, she was sparkly as opposed to dominant streaks but the outcome of the color blending is the same. Because we are all transitioning to the same color what changes the look of our natural color is the dominant streaks vs a sparkle. But the color we are all trying to achieve is the same and will blend no matter what you were coloring your hair. I'm editing the video now and should have it finished by tomorrow.
Thank you. What about adding a few neutral lowlights to cover up my warm brown in addition to the highlights ?. That is what I don’t like (plus the demarcation line).
@Karen M you can absolutely do that I just don't talk it because it's too much for most but not all! After you place your highlight you can now put on a color to cancel the warm artificial color. The color will process while you're waiting for the bleach to lighten your hair. Remember you are going darker so you only need a 5 volume peroxide for the color application. Once the hair is light enough in the foil then you can wash out and tone the highlight.
@@juliethehairapist thank you so much for that. Yes a level 5 seems right. I don’t mind my brown I just want a neutral with no warm tones broken up by a few silver toned baby lights. I’ll share with my hairdresser. Thanks so much.
What color should the highlights be? I'm a medium-light blonde, but my color growing in is now a dirty dishwater color with some gray, actually a little darker than my dyed hair.
It needs to be light yellow not banna yellow in order to have a bright silver highlight. If you send me pics of your hair through my Facebook page or email juliethehairapist@gmail.com I can give you better advice.
Julie the Hairapist (love that name, by the way!): I will send a picture tomorrow, when the light is better for taking pictures. Thanks so much! I'm touched that you have responded to me, and so quickly, too.
Hi Diane, it depends on what color your brassy hair is, orange, yellow/orange or yellow. The yellow is the easiest to get rid of but the other colors require you to darken or lighten past the brassy tone. If you want to send me a pic through Facebook I can give you better advice. My page is Julie The Hairapist.
Hi Julie, I love your videos. Theey are so helpful. My hair dresser did some hight light around my face (bangs and around my face 3 or 4 times) but it is always coming with yellow tones and not much silver. I would love to have silver hightlight all over from my regroth point. What should I use to have them more silver ? Platinum or what else ? Thank you
Thank you I would love to help you but I'm in California about 45 min from San Francisco. Even if I can't do your hair I can still help with a road map for your stylist or teach you to manage it yourself. Please feel free to contact me for any help juliethehairapist@gmail.com. ♥️
The highlights you're talking about: should we be shooting for as light as possible? Level 10? And tone to look silver so they blend? When I get highlights on my dyed dark hair, they can only get to a level 7 or so...So they don't blend 🤔... My dream hair is like yours!
Unfortunately my industry is highly undertrained. If the bleach is too thick or too thin it won't lift correctly, if you put too much hair in the foil it won't lift correctly. One of the reasons why I teach the money piece is because you will be careful and not try to do too much but unfortunately hairstylist put too much hair (so it's faster) but never achieving the right color. If you feel comfortable doing your own hair I would love to help you. Send me pics of your hair through my Facebook page or email juliethehairapist@gmail.com and I can give you better advice.
I am dark like you ... so I will just do the crown. Do you have to keep treating your hair still? I have the feeling if I let it grow out ... it will be sparkly white color mainly. I am a little afraid to do it. I thought of using those hair chalks in white till I could grow it out. Because I have been doing my roots black for soo long I am afraid I will fry my hair. Your hair looks gorgeous! Would love to never dye my hair again.
The best way to learn about bleaching your hair is to just do one strand test. It allows you to learn, make mistakes and not ruin your hair. Your other alternative is to use a temporary color on your new growth instead of permanent until it grows out. Please feel free to contact me for any help along the way juliethehairapist@gmail.com.
Hello Julie. Love your hair and your videos. Julie, I have short hair and about 50 percent gray. I dyed my hair myself using box color, but was getting tired of dying my hair every 3 to 4 weeks. I decided to go to a highly recommended colorist to transition my hair. I wanted to blend my gray hair with highlights. She bleached my hair from the part that had color. Then after supposedly put my natural hair color. It came out very light, not the highlights that I expected and after my first wash it just turned yellow and I looked like a bleached blonde (I'm a brunette). I was crying for two days because and when into ultra and consulted their hair stylist, who suggested a get a toner, but to wait because my hair was compromised by the bleach. I have very thing hair, but at least it was soft and now I have breakage. What can I do to tone the yellow color without causing further damage? She did not touch my back which is salt and pepper, so now I have yellow with silver and some brown in my hair. Thank you in advance for response. Again, I love your videos and the simplicity in which you explain everything.
I can absolutely help you. Using a direct dye will get rid of the yellow and actually condition your hair. Can you send me pics of your hair through my Facebook page or email juliethehairapist@gmail.com.
Awesome advice! Looking forward to the instructional video. Will this help with blending if you are a dyed blonde and have brunette roots that are now growing in grey?
Ok! I think I can do this! However......should I put TONER on after I bleach and dye? What type? And what shampoos, conditioners, etc. should I use after this process? Thank you 🙏🏻😍
Hi Debbie, I love Pravana Vivids Silver but there are several that will work. Here are some links, as far as shampoo and conditioner it depends on your hair type and condition. I really appreciate your descriptions and explanations, but what can we do if we can’t get to a professional because of the lockdown and have to try to figure out something we can do at home? I do a lot of zoom meetings and am wearing wigs. However my natural hair has grown back so much since I have stopped dying it. I wish I could get it looking better. Is there a way to incorporate grey extensions and disguise it somehow? Or any other suggestions would be so helpful. I am not into the bright, fun, colors. You look great in that green you showed us though.😊
Yes, you need a silver highlight to transition no matter what your color is and you can do it yourself. I just helped a lady from AZ and I'm going to post a video showing what she did. I'll also show a video of my transition where I put my silver highlight in but only in the front. You just need to highlight the area that can be seen you don't need to do your whole head with highlights.
Can you please list a few other silver direct dyes because the Pravada Silver isn't available right now, apparently. I'm too nervous to choose one myself. This is all very, very foreign & new to me. Thank you!
Yes, it may seem a little complicated at first but I promise it will all make sense. When we bleach hair every one lightens the same, once we get to light yellow with the bleach. We can now make the yellow hair silver which will match what's happening naturally. If you send me pics of your hair through my Facebook page or email juliethehairapist@gmail.com I can give you better advice. Here are other colors that will work. Unfortunately the industry does not label color correctly sometimes the direct dyes are labelled as semi or demi permanent color. We can use a color that requires a developer but reduce the level of peroxide which will make it into a direct dye. Here are 3 different colors that will work, one is labelled demi-permanent and it is, the other two are actually direct dyes but are labelled semi-permanent. www.sallybeauty.com/hair/hair-color/demi-permanent-hair-color/intensive-shine-demi-permanent-creme-hair-color/ION104.html?selected_pid=SBS-305480&selected_color=7VA%20Chrome&col_dispval=7VA%20Chrome www.sallybeauty.com/hair/hair-color/semi-permanent-hair-color/premium-natural-semi-permanent-hair-color/IROIRO1.html Pulp Riot-Labeled Semi Perm but it's a direct dye. www.beautyplussalon.com/pulp-riot-semi-permanent-hair-color-4-oz?aid=14228&gclid=CjwKCAiAuoqABhAsEiwAdSkVVDlHZqAiMl-xbp2Yobfiu1gEBNqKmuWTJfBdtHLfQLauNWu8ZVZJRRoCCU4QAvD_BwE
Any time you want, I have transistioned people after 4 weeks and as long a year. The most important thing is that we follow your pattern and use the bleach correctly. Thank you for watching.
I keep trying to find Julie the Hairapist video titled How to highlight a redhead to silver but I can't locate it. She shows how to do this using one of her customers. Help!
Sorry for the late response, yes it doesn’t matter what your background color is because a silver highlight will blend. Here’s Jordan’s transition and she had a lot of red. So glad I found you! I have been trying to touch up around my face with my dark brown color while letting the rest grow but not anymore. Question..I bought the Pravana Silver you mentioned. Is it supposed to wash out so quick? I can still see so much yellow around my face (beautiful white further back behind that). Does that mean I didn't lift the dark out enough? Will I ever be able to lift this yellow out enough or will I just have to tolerate it til it grows out. I'm afraid to blend any other areas until I fix this.
It sounds like you did get your hair light enough. The Pravana Silver will turn the yellow hair silver but will not change the color of your natural. Can you send me pics of your hair and I can give you better advice juliethehairapist@gmail.com.
@MzTymTaylormade Queen U can help you. All you need is to highlight the temple area and you will be happy. Email me and I can send you pics juliethehairapist@gmail.com
Need you here to sort my hair. My hair is so many colours at minute. Very white at sides demarcation line dark with fine grey hairs at minute. Back is very dark with blonde on top .
hi Julie, I have been a natural light blond all my years, but when was I was middle aged it went a little mousy, so I began to color it myself with a blond that matched what my hair used to be. Now I'm 65 and am growing in my grey. Unfortunately, my hair growing in is not grey, but mousy blond with a few streaks of grey. It's not attractive. The line of demarcation is hardly noticeable. I'm not sure what to do! My artificial color in my hair has oxidized due to high altitude sun exposure, so it has a little orange tint to it. The last time I went a stylist, she was not complimentary of what was growing in. I would love to have beautiful grey hair, but mousy is not pretty. If it's not grey at 65, it probably never will be. BTW, my hair is very fine and takes color really well. For all the years I was coloring, I used 10A demi color with 3% developer and it was permanent. I would love to not put more permanent products into my hair, but it's looking ugly. Any suggestions? Thanks, Anna B
I would love to help❤ First the stylist wasn't complimentary because she didn't have the skills necessary to do your hair and unfortunately my industry always blames the client for their lack of knowledge. Can you send me pics of your hair through my Facebook page or email jjjcozzo@gmail.com and I can give you better advice.
I have mostly dark with silver on crown, but, my hairline is white and not really seen except if hair totally up Can I darken hairline to blend and not shock???
@Connie Murphy you're 💯 correct. Blondes have the easiest transition because the difference between level of color is almost the same. But for us brunettes it's light vs dark. I have a great solution for you, start using temporary brown/black color instead of permanent. It's easier to apply, you can use it as often as you want and you can even rub it on your dry styled hair to hide your white hair. I remember you and please let me help you be free from color 🙏🏽 🥰
It is harder to grow out grey when you have a fringe and a bob, because the ends are dark and the parting and fringe highlight the grey at the front, any tips for me?
Yes, a heavy highlight off of your part. In this video that's what we did but I didn't highlight her back just the part to hide the line of demarcation. line.th-cam.com/video/VweZJXUN2Ek/w-d-xo.html
Silver highlights look great with black hair color. If you send me pics of your hair through my Facebook page or email juliethehairapist@gmail.com I can give you better advice.
I started out seeing my white roots and thought it's time, I'm tired of re-doing roots every three weeks.. So I figured I'd strip the colour off for a smoother demarcation, I always used 'warm' medium brown in a semi/demi.. So (Naively) I thought underneath would be grey. 3 strips later. Its not grey. The hair by the front of my face has had some colour removed but won't go away totally and is a horrible orange, the top is kinda whiteish, but for the most part it's grey stained yellow...!? I'm social distancing (my family has health issues) so I darent see a hairdresser.. But this yellow toned hair has me wishing I'd left it alone and stuck to root touch ups! I'm thinking I should tone it and see how I feel about it, the Wella colour charm seems like a good line. But which one...? I just don't know. Im massively overwhelmed tbh. I started out so hopeful and happy with my decision, but this yellow isn't me. :(
What do you mean by direct dye? I’m transitioning my dyed hair to silver and my stylist has done blonde highlights then ash toner twice now…12 weeks apart…she said I won’t need highlights again just silver/ash toner. Is that what you mean by direct dye?
@American Girl great question a toner is the name of a service like a haircut. But what we use to tone can be permanent, semi-permanent and direct dye hair color. Unfortunately my industry does not label things correctly and will label a direct dye as semi-permanent. A true direct dye does not have a developer it's a what you see is what you get color. I don't use ash toners for transitioning because they are hair color that has ammonia and needs peroxide, both of those things can dry the hair and leave a line of demarcation. When you use a direct dye it is more like a conditioner to the bleached hair, it will not color the natural color and the client can use it at home as often as they want or need. Blonde highlights can at times need to be toned often to maintain silver.
@@juliethehairapist thank you for responding and quickly. I’m due to get “toner” in a few weeks I will ask her if it is actually a dye, it may be, I just know she calls it a toner. I love my hair after she highlights and “tones” it but the old color/highlights yellow pretty quickly. I don’t see a line of demarcation until 4 or 5 weeks but even then it’s not extremely drastic, more of a transition from my natural grey growing in to the more yellow highlights. Thanks again!
I'm in California but retired. I can still help you with a pathway for your stylist or if your comfortable doing your own hair I can help you transition.
Yes, direct dyes are like mixing your markers to color on paper. Yellow and red make orange, red and blue make purple. I would get black if they have it and mix it with some orange for warmth. If they don't have black then get some grey (not silver), blue and orange basically you are darkening orange or yellow or red when you ad add blue, grey or black.

Excellent video! Learnt a lot about the art of hair colouring! Still feel left out😔 As my natural colour is jet black/blue black. I have always used semi colour. Never permanent, always black. Assuming it will go away at some point! Of course I find out later that all of those layers of semi permanent are here to stay. Using colour lifting shampoos only brings out layers of red and orange. I never knew they existed. Now I know. So went cold turkey, no hair cuts or colour for 10 months! I thought most of my hair is white/silver. Now I know it's only 35% at most is silver the rest is black! No money peices for me😭😭 It's not fair!! Just silver threads everywhere and small concentration of silver, here and there. Am gonna stick it out for another 10 months. Hopefully I'll see a definite pattern. I'll decide where to go from there. Thanks for many great informative videos! Knowledge is power🙏🙏
Thank you so much for your support, I truly appreciate it! Sometimes our hair ends up being lighter than what we can see when it's growing out because artificial hair color covers up all of our natural highlights. Please feel free to contact me for help along the way.
Hi Julie! I followed your guide to highlight a test strand with bleach and 20 volume and managed to get it to a bright blonde, but right next to my silver hair, it looks very yellow. I used a platinum toner as well. Do you recommend bleaching several times?
No bleaching too many times can damage the hair. It sounds like you got it light enough but the toner didn't cancel the yellow. Because the toner is so light it generally needs to go on dry hair, sometimes wet works but most of the time it needs to be dry. Can you send me a pic of your strand test and I can give you better advice.
I'm in California near SF, unfortunately my industry is so bad I don't even have a stylist I can recommend here. But I can still help with a roadmap for a stylist and/or we can formulate a temporary color that you can you to camouflage the line of demarcation. Send me a pic of your outgrowth and artificial color juliethehairapist@gmail.com
Well I grew out my bleach blonde heavy highlight. I wanted silver salt and pepper. I’m self quarenreened since MRch . My hair and I didn’t know is really brunette . And no grey accept a baby hairs around scalp . Incouldnt stand my self so I watched all videos and bought shwarcoff bleach & 30 developer took pieces lightly around ny head heavie4 in front and still stuck in bronze and yellow. So then I days later another round this time I pulled it through a cap. Another 1 hour . Rinsed the hair . Kept cap on and put shwarkopf T- ice with 7% volume .still yellow and a little blond. So now I’m back to where I was 2 years ago😭😭😭😭😭😭😭can you suggest something please please . I colored my hair my entire life .
Shades Eq is a semi-permanent color if you use it as a toner for highlights it's a great product but if you use it on your new growth to hide your greys it will leave a line of demarcation because it has a developer.
@acripe9875 You can use semi permanent but if the level of semi permanent color is a lot darker than your natural color it will leave a line of demarcation. Are you wanting to tone the highlights with Shades EQ or use it as a touch up color?
@@juliethehairapist Hey Julie, I tried sending an email but it won't send to address given. I will send pics in a message on the Facebook page. Thanks!
Long salt and pepper colour hair is just so pretty
I finally took the plunge and followed your direction on highlighting a halo amount of hair to my crown. It has almost been a year and I am so happy. I get so many compliments on my grey hair. I am not completely grey and still have brown at the bottom but it is growing out beautifully. Thank you so much!!!!
I’m so happy for you! Congratulations on being free from coloring.❤️
So appreciate how you explained the process so well. I believe I am am just going to let it grow out naturally. It is just hair. I feel liberated already. Thanks again!!❤️
I promise you will love it when it's all you!❤
I transitioned with highlights and lowlights and my transition was a lot less painless, thought it took longer to be completely color free.
So happy for you! Even as a stylist I thought I might go back but no I love being free!❤
Thank you for your support!❤
Thank you so much for your suggestion. I'm a social media idiot but I love to learn. I will definitely put the videos together ❤

Wow,those colours in your hair are fabulous

When I transitioned to gray my stylist highlighted my hair all over it helped in the process of growing my hair out.

th-cam.com/video/WAXkOKrnuHk/w-d-xo.html
Wow your salt and pepper hair is beautiful.
Love your hair !!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!💜
I used to dye my hair, and wanted to use highlights to transition to my natural hair… I’m still about 2/3 brown.

I’d say go cold Turkey 🦃 have a short cut and just tone it mildly w a silver toner. Let it be please! Thanks for sharing anyway
If that is your natural hair colour Julie... it's gorgeous.
Thank you yes, I have a giant dark patch in the front that I love now but when I was coloring I had to color every 10 days because I looked like I had a bald spot when it would grow out. 🤣❤
thank u. your hair look beautiful 2021
Thank you!❤
I have hair like yours was with dark brn and silver.
Awesome thank you
Dammit. I just want to be your client.
You made my day!❤
Great, thank you
Perfect!
I got my hair highlighted, I really don’t want to cut my hair. What is good for brassy hair?
Hi Diane, it depends on what color your brassy hair is, orange, yellow/orange or yellow. The yellow is the easiest to get rid of but the other colors require you to darken or lighten past the brassy tone. If you want to send me a pic through Facebook I can give you better advice. My page is Julie The Hairapist.
Hi Julie, I love your videos. Theey are so helpful. Yes and if you email at juliethehairapist@gmail.com I can also send you some examples.
Oh, If I could just have your hair!!!

Very well explained.👍
Thank you for your support!❤

The best way to learn about bleaching your hair is to just do one strand test. It allows you to learn, make mistakes and not ruin your hair.
Yes, when you highlight to match your white hair pattern you will instantly blend the line of demarcation.
Julie The Hairapist thank you so much for replying🙏🏻 Watching all of your videos😊

Yes, I found you on FB. Can I send them to you on FB messenger?
I'm African American n my temples have grey n roots through out. N trying to go grey I have color in.

Thank you for your support!❤
Need you here to sort my hair. My hair is so many colours at minute. Very white at sides demarcation line dark with fine grey hairs at minute. Back is very dark with blonde on top .
I would love to help you, can you send me pics through my Facebook page or email juliethehairapist@gmail.com.
hi Julie, I have been a natural light blond all my years, but when was I was middle aged it went a little mousy, so I began to color it myself with a blond that matched what my hair used to be.
I have mostly dark with silver on crown, but, my hairline is white and not really seen except if hair totally up
Can I darken hairline to blend and not shock???
Yes but you will still want to lighten the ends (the same area that you want to darken) otherwise you won't really notice much blending.
in 2022 here I'v tried 8x now to go silver. I have brown hair so it is harder to go NATURAL. :) friend connie murphy
@@juliethehairapist sorry, I do not understand your reply...a heavy highlight off if your part????? Thank you
I have black hair and I’ve been in semi transition for 1 year. Should I do highlights also?
You might be able to tone it, can you send me pics of your hair through my Facebook page or email jjjcozzo@gmail.com.
Not a stylist...but be careful with toner. I had the same plan as you but the developer mixed with the toner left me even oranger.
Where r u located, I’m a brunette 2 months into my transition. Soooo hard. So u have a salon?
I'm in California but retired. I can still help you with a pathway for your stylist or if your comfortable doing your own hair I can help you transition.
Thank you so much ❤️
Are your white streaks highlights or natural? And is the black streak a direct dye? It’s gorgeous! Love learning from you.
It's all natural, the black streak amazes me because there isn't a single white hair in that area.
Wow thank you so inspirational I’m in the three month in for transitioning I’m 45 years old I wish you lived close by me so you could help me a little bit more I already have highlights so what I did I did low lights so I could blend in so I hope it turned out OK thank you so much for your video you look beautiful and amazing you are keeping me going thank you!
@@juliethehairapist I will message you on facebook, thanks so much!
where are you located and do you recommend anyone in San Antonio, Tx
I would love to help you, can you send me pics of your hair through my Facebook page or email juliethehairapist@gmail.com.
What color highlight? Need pictures.
Watch my highlighting video it shows you how to highlight and how light you need to get the hair in order for you to achieve silver.
Is Shades eq considered a direct dye?
Shades Eq is a semi-permanent color if you use it as a toner for highlights it's a great product but if you use it on your new growth to hide your greys it will leave a line of demarcation because it has a developer.
So my hair dresser cannot use the Shades EQ for this process to blend?
@acripe9875 You can use semi permanent but if the level of semi permanent color is a lot darker than your natural color it will leave a line of demarcation. Are you wanting to tone the highlights with Shades EQ or use it as a touch up color?
I would love to send you photos and get your advice on highlighting a money piece.
