SPOiLER- skip was snooping through her office to look at her calendar I think to see when marissa was scheduled with Avery next. I actually had a hard time getting into this book in the beginning . I didn’t care how it was written but once I got hooked on trying to guess I got more into it and read through the rest pretty fast
Spoilers in reply- Omg YES! Thank you for the reminder on Skip! Yes I felt the same way about the beginning… it definitely took some time and if it wasn’t for my vow to read the monthly thriller from Book or the Month, I think I might have not finished! But I’m glad I did!:) I’m glad it picked up for you too
Semi-spoiler: There were a lot of red herrings in this one, but I enjoyed it! Skip’s snooping in Avery’s office is explained, but I already forget why. I didn’t appreciate the treatment of Tina’s character, seemed sorta like “punishing the victim”; there were some strong female characters, I appreciated the alternating perspectives (Avery’s written in 1st person), but Avery is sketch to the end! 😜
such a good point about the red herrings! I too forgot why he was snooping in her office haha and now I am getting it a little confused with The Good Lie that I just read which OMG probably the best book I have read THIS YEAR! Can't wait to review that one :) hahaha yes Avery is sketch to the end I totally agree!
When my book club picked this, I didn't think I would enjoy it from the synopsis. But I ended up really liking it! It was very engaging to me and even though I called a key plot point at the beginning, I still talked myself out of it in the middle, so it still kept me on my toes. haha
I rated TGC a 3.5/5 (good). I enjoyed it, but the “wow” never came. As for figuring out the plot in books, I agree. I like it, but I don’t. Therefore, I love books that surprise me. 📖 😲 ❤️
YES! I am glad I am not the only one that has a love/hate relationship for figuring out the plot LOL!!! Yes agree, it was good but not great! I am going to read Dark Matter in March I am excited because I have heard great things! Anything on your TBR?!
@@HeathersBookReview Silly question! 😝 Of course I have TBR books! 😃 Current Books: Paper book - The Shadows We Hide (Eskens) Audiobook - Eight Perfect Murders (Swanson) Ebook - Bone Deep (Bosworth)
@@thoughtsofjoyk hahaha 😛 📚 ohhh I enjoyed 8 Perfect Murders! Just starting The Last Thing He Told Me. It’s rather short (303 pages ) so I think I can finish by tomorrow!
I read about 100 pages and just couldn’t get into the story even though I love thrillers, including domestic thrillers. Rock Paper Scissors by far was a much better read for me
Unfortunately there's nothing about this that screams "Read me!" so I don't think I'll be picking it up. I just don't tend to enjoy this sort of story. At least that means I can sit in for the book chat though. Yep calling the twist is always super satisfying. it's funny that you brought up that point as I recently read What Lies Between Us" by John Mars and this line made me laugh: "Psychological thrillers are my thing. The problem is if I guess the twist I will be annoyed at the book for being predictable, if I don't I'll be annoyed at myself for not being able to work it out". Just a little bit of meta humour from Mars that made me laugh. It's the eternal struggle of a psychological thriller fan :'). I think by the sounds of that main twist I would probably have guessed it at some point but how close to the reveal I cannot say.
Thank you for listening to the book chat, my friend! Okay wow...that line from What Lies Between Us is literally me! haha! I have that book sitting on my TBR shelf actually. Hoping to make a dent in my TBR shelf once I am off work for the summer ( I am a teacher. ) I am currently reading The Paris Apartment and really liking it! Will you be reading that one as well?
I remember being worried about this too as I was reading!! I don’t think anything bad happens to the dog, I feel like I’d remember for sure. I feel like the authors lead you to think somethings going to happen but something doesn’t actually happen to the dog if that makes sense!

hahah that is awesome to hear!! I'm glad you liked it. I ended up really enjoying it too :)
I’m presently reading this on my kindle. So far I’m having fun reading it. Juicy! LOL!
so glad you are loving it so far! It is juicy for sure lol, I really liked this one!
‘Golden Couple ‘ story of our lives ! You look amazing 🤩 Bookish friend 👌🏽

This one took soooo long to get into! I will say it picks up, but the first 1/3 I’d say was super boring :/

I was so bored reading this too. I gave it two stars.
it ended up picking up for me but that beginning definitely did drag!!!
An Anonymous Girl was a DNF for me so I probably won’t pick this one up.
I felt that book had so much potential but the ending fell flat. This one was better but still not a favorite of mine :/
So I am very much a dog person. I saw on another site there was a dog in this. Does it live? No sad doggy stuff please!

@@HeathersBookReview That makes perfect sense. Thank you for the reassurance! Lol.
