Sirji, practical lessons like this really helps to learn and Play Tabla. I learnt Tabla from so many Gurujis in Bombay. But, they continuously teach how to play Kaydas and peshkars. Many people learn Tablas to play with music like bhajans, kawwalis, gazals etc., But they go on with Kaydas. May b they want their students to stick to them for very long time. Thank u very much - N V Kotian, Bombay
Hello Mr. Kotian ji.. in the old times, this was the way of teaching. I myself learned Kayda, Paran Peshkar.. barely played kehrava dadra. Some Students will develop their own style of accompanying. fast forward, 50 years, Its Diff Time, Only 10-20% of students want to learn Classical Tabla specially in Western World. Most of them just want to learn for accompanying. I try to teach as per Student dedication, passion of Music. I believe Its Teacher responsibility to keep Students passion & love for Music "Alive". Most of the teachers does, its just diff way of teaching.. Hope this comments will help you and Many Others. Regards..
Tej Singh ....thank you, this is a good approach to teaching. When one has learnt the basics of tabla playing (sounds, bols, other guidelines), this method of accompaniment with singing or recital with musical instruments shows the student where he is going in his progress instead of simply playing certain beats without any definite goal or purpose. It is like going to a University and taking a general degree. When you graduate with a general degree (BA, BSc, etc) there is no great market for your knowledge or skills unless you later specialize in a specific field! 😊
I don't know how I missed this lesson!! Very practical application of previous lessons!. I really enjoy Ryan playing!! Thanks to you Tej. God bless you and your family!
Sir this is really incredible. My son is 8 and he is learning tabla. I make him practice all your basic lessons for beginners 2 house everyday and he is improving his playing a lot.
I follow your tabla lessons for a long time from Surinam (a country in South America) and I find quite amazing and I learn a lot from you. you are great
Sir, first of all thank you for the lessons. As was mentioned in the comment below, it has been tough to find how to apply Kaidas, tukda and prakars .. I really am grateful for your breaking this down. I can't afford your private lessons yet but saving up for a set of 40 classes . Your grateful student from Germany. Jai mata di!
Can you please upload a file with the full song, I feel you have sung it better than the original because you extend the HotAA and the AisAA. In the Harriharran version he ends them very quickly.
Really wonderful lesson Tej ji.!!! Apart from your vocal, harmonium and tabla skills, I have great admiration for your audio recording skills. Do you have a preference for specific tabla mics ji? Thank you again
Thanks Vijay ji.. My preferred Mics are Shure Sm58 for Tabla, sennheiser MD421 for Baya. You can also choose Shure SM58 mic for Both Tabla & Baya. All the best.
Respected sir, are you busy in any other works? not making new lessons videos since few days... Sir, we like very much your lessons and explanation style. So not only me but a lot of your fans also are waiting for your new lessons and demonstrations. Thanks
