I managed to persuade my husband to get into Bullet Journaling as he has an atrocious memory, this is working out so well for him, I suggested he view your videos as you have such enthusiasm for it, it definitely helped him get more enthusiastic about it. It is also helping his handwriting as this was also an area that needed much attention :). One thing I will add, you are never too old to start a Bullet Journal ! Thanks for the informative video. Hi from London UK.
For the life of me I cannot wrap my mind around writing everything down like that. I suppose I’m just not a busy person and I also don’t want to carry a bunch of stuff around. The only thing I want to carry around on a daily basis is my wallet. I couldn’t imagine having to remember a book and a pen and all this other stuff. Can someone help me understand?
@@thatfishindude239 All I can respond with is the one hubby has started is very minimal, it has reminders listed of what he needs to do in a particular day, a few monthly ones and a couple of year ones, he then crosses /ticks them when they are done or completed, he certainly doesnt'' carry it around and picks it up when he is relaxing of an evening. My only advice would be that all bullet journals are what you want to make them, Mark's ones are what he needs (awesome ofc) , suited to his own formula and work etc. even if u just note things weekly, its a start and it can be very helpful whether u are busy busy like Mark, or lead a quiet life. Maybe Mark or others can add to my attempts to help. Even tasks like watering the garden, planting seeds buying items can all be entered as a bullet or task reminder or a happening. I hope this helps a little.
I am a huge fan of the Alastair method as a part of my weekly spread. The ability to brain dump all the things and then indicating what day of the week I can take care of the last ask helps me keep track of things at work. My weekly spread is filled with events/meetings.
The Lamy Safari is a great recommendation for an intro fountain pen. I have quite a few pens including some spendy ones and I still enjoy using my Safari.
I *love* your method of a prioritized list, and think it is particularly useful for people with physical challenges because one could adjust how many tasks per day to suit where your health currently is. Thanks so much, I am going to try this out!
So nice to find other people who do this too. I make one must-do task and then a back-up task that is not as physically demanding. It helps me feel like I actually accomplished something for the day if my health/body decides it doesn't want to work lol
I like the weight of my A&O metal pens, but the ink from my pentel energel, so I bought a box of the .07 refills and that's what I have inside instead!
Going after the smaller mm tips, Mark. A man after my own heart haha. After a lot of experimenting as well, I know what I like. Pentel Energel is the only pen I use now for main writing, because they are so much easier on my poor hands. They are also good for lefties, too! I always default to 0.5mm needle tip if I can get it. I used Uniball Signo 1.0mm and 0.7mm in my early days, but my writing got so much better when I went smaller. So nice other people appreciate smaller tip sizes, cuz Japanese companies make them for a reason-- Kanji LOL Hobonichi grid sizes are 3.7mm and you need a pen to help you when it comes to writing characters with 33, 87, 100+ strokes lol Mindblowing, right lol? Second would be Zebra Sarasa for colors, but some aren't really that great to write long time with. TH-camrs back then did "franken-pen" by putting a refill from one company into another company pen body. The best thing I've learned is to buy refills lol So much cheaper and reduce so much waste. I have no idea why we have to buy 30 packs of pens if I'm happy with just the one pen I got cuz it's comfy. But you're tempting me with fountain ink....LOL I used a planner in school, but I got more serious when trying to balance work and life schedules and due dates. That was 2016 and then 2019 when I officially started with the BuJo method after watching TH-camrs. I never read the book and didn't know there was one until much later lol. I still have most of my Mildliners from those days too XD I definitely have to color code, cuz I'm a visual person. I started with a small pocket size and then worked up to B5 size with white color paper with 0.5mm dot grid space and 160 GSM. BuJo was a no-brainer for me, cuz it put planning and journaling together, things I was already doing. The journaling and reflection part has definitely helped me notice and make changes and celebrate the small wins. The planning has helped me to be productive and make more intentional choices. My Word of the Year for 2025 is "Intention" to help me do that even more =) I'll definitely add some of your tips into my BuJo Presentation I'm giving again soon. Thank you! So thankful you also use Eisenhower Method. Have you read Atomic Habits? We need to make our BuJo fun, functional, and a place we want to be. And I think anyone can benefit from the method if they tailor it to themselves and just keep at it, cuz it gets even better, as Ryder said in his recent videos =)
Fountain pens are fun and excellent, I use one daily. The Pentel Energel is my favourite gel pen, mine are the more traditional tip at 0.7mm, nice and smooth.
Thanks for sharing your tips! I'm about to start my first bullet journal, so this is very helpful. I need to know one thing, though. How the hell do you use a fountain pen as a lefty??? I'm a lefty too, so I've always thought I couldn't write with one, but I'd like to try if it's possible. I'm not the type tmwho curls my hand around- I push a pen forward. I usually use Pilot Frixion pens because I need to erase fairly frequently.
I'm a long time fan of the Pentel Energel line of pens & the Uniball metallics & they have an awesome white pen too! I'm just getting started with the soft tip brush pens, but I think I'm gonna love those too! ❤️🔥 Thanks so much for the insightful tips! ~ makleysi ~
Sorry to pester you again but curious if you have a video or link to all your favorite shops for various items? Or just best shops that you would recommend; love desk gems but June is out of a lot of stuff. Does she restock pretty fast? Not that I need ANYTHING nor should be in a rush. I have no patience whatsoever though! Ps Love your dogs❤
Never a pester. I don’t have a favorite shops video, but I have all the spots I have discount codes to that are also favorite places to shop. Pens and inks, I go to Atlas Stationers. They also have stationery items. And for other stationery, Desk gems or cute things from Japan.
Just bought Tom’s Studio Lumos pen; fascinating concept for sure. Only experimenting with it at the moment. Also bought three of the inks - 19 Lemon Yellow is superb - especially in my yellow Twsbi! 💛

That Pentel is a very good pen; it’s been my go to for probably the past 8 months or so!
The energel needle point is my favorite by far!
It has quickly gone up in the ranks as one of my favorites

I started bullet journaling last week. And so far it's going decently good 👍

Threading helped when I was bullet journaling. It helps with not filling the index excessively.
