- On October 20th & 21st, 2012, The Southern Pacific 4449 made a rare trip from Portland, OR. to Bend, OR via the BNSF Fallbridge & Oregon Trunk subdivisions. Enjoy this PSRR Productions film of all our footage from the entire trip to and from Bend! Beautiful scenes from the Columbia River Gorge and the Deschutes River Canyon. As well as the flat farmlands of eastern Oregon! Also a special photo run by at the enormous Wilson Creek trestle in Madras, OR. Hope you all enjoy!
How can you NOT love a train as pretty as this one?
Vaughn Davidson She's so beautiful!!!
13:34 I love how the Amtrak says hello after daylight
I see the amtrak unit gave you some horn sailutes to by its hybrid
I was on that trip and was in the 2nd to last Dome Car !
That shot at 6:02.... Epic
yea grat part 2 edation
with more good whistle action
Starting at 3:55 watch how much the rail goes up and down as the train goes over it.
The whistle has kind of that flavor similar to Cotton Belt 819's whistle
Bret Andrews, is it a different whistle or is 4449's whistle a little messed up? It seems to be higher pitched when 4449 approaches. I still think it's beautiful.
wonder if one of the chambers has a crack or broken fin?
I don't really like some of the whistles they put on her
Sometimes it seems as if she were screaming in pain in some clips
COOL!
What’s wrong with her voice? It gets high as she approaches the camera
The whistle got damaged on this particular trip. It has since been fixed if I remember correctly.
Not wanting to be a wet blanket, but it was a shame a non-steam engine was tacked on behind.
They need it for dynamic breaking. Steam doesn't have .
