@@tgbluewolf I agree about the romanticism, but I'm glad the true history and respect for Native American people was learned in the early 1970s with films such as Soldier Blue and Eagle's Wing. Before then, many Hollywood films were downright insulting and patronising. As a British European, I am very interested in the true history of North America and aware that many people today are living on stolen land.
Michael Greyeyes is also a university professor at York University in Ontario, Canada. I had several classes taught by him. He’s a very articulate and interesting man and a great teacher.

Their uterus were cut out from the inside and the soldiers wore them on their heads like trophy hats. It was out of necessity and survival the women were taken to raise families. Some of them were lucky enough to find love and never wanted to return to “civilized” life. So yes they were taken for survival of the people but most native men aren’t as superficial going only on looks. They admired intelligence, goodness of a woman inside and out, generosity and compassion. Sure they notice attractive women they aren’t dead. That’s not how they pick a wife.
I am extremely proud of my Cherokee heritage. I wish I still had my sweet little paternal Grandmother. She was full Cherokee from Dahlonega, Ga. I have so many questions I'd love to ask her. She lived on the side of a mountain in the beautiful Blue Ridge. She was a tiny woman who always wore long dresses with an apron and she wore her long white hair up in a bun. I still remember her fragrance...a sweet perfume and the snuff she kept in her pocket. Her face was full of deep wrinkles and her eyes always twinkled with that precious smile. One of the things that stands out in my memory as a child was her talking about the 'Trail of Tears', which broke my heart. Of course I'd also love to still have my maternal Grandmother who was Scot/Irish. I hope to see them and all of my family again in Heaven.❤
My grandmother was Apache. Not full blooded. My grandfather was half. But she had long hair and wore braided in a low bun. She had many grandkids. I was her favorite with no apologies to none. She was awsome. She taught me much. Things that now I can not remember due to bs in life. But her i can remember every detail. Every smile. Every time she wanted to be rude and would not. I most likely took after her more than the rest. I was as she was. Always helps relationships..... She also had wolves in her life. Hers was as loyal as mine. She adored them. Sometimes, the way this world is now, I just sit & cry & long for peace in the world & the Comanche & Cherokee blood in me pulls so hard at my heart & makes me wish I could go & live in the past with my people, in a simpler life & with nature. @@janeloveday6113 Thank you for your message. I was raised in the Assembly of God faith & gave my heart to God/Christ at 7 years old, then was filled with the Holy Spirit as a young teen. God has brought me through so much, including breast cancer/mastectomy & His love & grace is as real today for me as a senior, as it was at 7. It’s just that I have severe scoliosis & I live with daily pain & I have ADHD/OCD & I feel things very strongly. I know & am prepared for the last days to be the way they are/difficult. But when I see it happening before me, the fighting, violence, climate catastrophes, war etc. it still breaks your heart & is a little overwhelming at times. Especially when I think of how it could get for my daughter/grandchildren. I’m ready for that peace that passes all understanding the Bible speaks of. And I am so thankful for the Salvation Christ bought for me on the cross & I have strength in Him that carries me through. I am so blessed. Many know Of Christ, but they don’t Know Christ. I say they returned for they had been native long enough that other ways were just too foreign to them. They loved where they came from and loved those people to whom they felt they belonged. White history is not same as Native American. Or what little I know.

It is loosely based on a true story. Custer got involved ‘saving’ her. Her Native American husband and four other chiefs were killed. She was sent back to her husband with a child. The child died and she ended up in a mental institution. She did not want to leave her Native husband.
I knew that some of Anna's story was not as it was portrayed in the movie, but I did not know that her Native American husband had been killed. It is sad that things did not go for her in real life as they did in the movie. It was said that she often stated that she wished that she had never been found & "rescued" from the Indians.

It's tough to think how hard relationships must have been back then. My Great Great Grandfather Married a Full-blooded Cherokee woman. The family wasn't real happy at the beginning but they grew to love her. ❤
I often feel I was born into the wrong century. I have feeling of how it would have been long ago. Amazingly I know herbs and such from my grandmother. She was full blood Cherokee. As a kid I never went to a dr unless my dad took me in his old truck down the mountain. Town was like 50 miles. We lived in the mountains. Anyway I love this movie . A friend suggested I watch it since everything in my house is Native American .
There are multiple stories of women who were taken. Later when they were forced by white “rescuers” who took them to their white home. When they had a chance they chose to their native family. The women were treated better and preferred to go back. These stories are from women taken by various tribes. Many did not want to go back to their white life. Some had to for the natives to be safe. I would love to read all the stories.

I haven't seen this movie in years I think my favorite scenes was when she did return to her old life she wasn't happy to be reunited with her husband. He told his friends that the Natives ruined her what he didn't know was that they didn't ruing her next we see her in bed with her husband. Finally, he wakes up & she's gone he runs out of the house screaming her name turns out she went back to Tokalah her heart belonged to him now.
When he first saw her he regonised the symbols of his vision with her and he knew she was part of his life. Threw time they grew on each other with their chemistry he made her feel complete when they fell in love. But being honest I kinda felt bad for her husband because he was a good man but back at the time you were pushed into marriage but her husband didn't make her feel complete nor did she love him.
Be you have to say you want to be kidnapped by a handsome and romantic, gentle native like in the movies. Actually there are many natives who are very rough and do not bathe for several days 😂😂

It was just after the Luke and Laura legacy. She was thought to be the missing Laura but of course was not. This movie is a beautiful movie.
