Long As Daddy’s Working - Lyrics
    Another run down hotel room
    Another wake up call
Been out here too damn long and it’s coming on fall
    Working and sleeping
    That’s all I do everyday
    To hear my friends talk
They think I got it made
They ain’t handing out this money
I ain’t got a damn dime for free
    Been giving everything I got
    To feed my family
Putting food back home on the table
There’s an empty spot in my bed
I could work hard every hour
    And would never get ahead
My babies know there’s one thing that’s for certain
Yeah, they ain’t ever got to worry about hurting
    Long as daddy’s working
Wipe the sweat from my brow
    When I think I can’t take anymore
Put in the back of my mind
I remember just who I’m working for
The good Lord’s got my family
And I know they’re doing fine
Cause he’s got his job covered
Now it’s time that I do mine
They ain’t handing out this money
I ain’t got a damn dime for free
    Been giving everything I got
    To feed my family
Putting food back home on the table
There’s an empty spot in my bed
I could work hard every hour
    And would never get ahead
My babies know there’s one thing that’s for certain
They ain’t ever got to worry about hurting
    Long as daddy’s working
They ain’t handing out this money
I ain’t got a damn dime for free
    Been giving everything I got
    To feed my family
Putting food back home on the table
There’s an empty spot in my bed
I could work hard every hour
    And would never get ahead
My babies know there’s one thing that’s for certain
They ain’t ever got to worry about hurting
    Long as daddy’s working
    Long as daddy’s working

This guy summed it up. I drive a semi for 65 hours a week to feed my wife and kids, and everyone tells me that “You make great money, you can afford it… “ Well, the boss man ain’t handing out money for free. I earn every penny I make. Even through the “Pandemic”…

This is about the real men that built this country. Few and far between nowadays. My dad was a truck driver. Most don’t realize the struggle it was back before technology. R.I.P. to my dad and the men who were like him. Salute to the few still left. God bless us all! Great song!

Been listening to this on repeat since I found it last night. My dad loved oilfield dad and I know he'd love this song too. Miss him every single day. He passed away on the job, it's been almost 9 months and I still think he's coming home. Keep making great music, it's almost like listening to my dad again.

Im 60. Every day when I open my eyes his picture on my TV is first thing I see. (I sleep in a chair fur to injury) He has been gone 30 years this September 30th.
Dad away making a living? Cow Trader/Cattle Order Buyer.
Stayed gone so long? He drove up in yard mid-afternoon, my baby sister ran in the house yelling for Mama to come & that there was a stranger in the front yard.
True story…she was 4 and the apple of his eye (4boys and a girl) he saw her almost daily but had been months since she had seen him. Broke him down. He figured out a different way to make a living.

Bryan is freaking amazing! He sings from the heart ❤️, this is real music 🎶. He's one of the best, this is the best song ever, reminds me so much of my brother Brandon, he works so hard for his babies and his family, he works 15 hours away from home. And he still makes time for his babies, even when he's dog tired, he still finds time to wet a line or take the kids out. Thank you so much, Bryan for this song. Love ya brother. ❤️🙏stay strong 💪 and hang in there, you got this, we all struggle.

Love and Pride. The 2 reasons I make it through the weeks and months I spend away from home in the Oil Field. The love for my family, and the Pride I take in being that Husband to my Wife, the Father to my Children, the Brother to my Co-Workers, and a Man I can be proud of when I see myself in the mirror after a long day. Songs about hard work and sacrifice a fewer and fewer these days. Thanks for song.

I work 6 days a week, come home to an empty bed, and my daughter 15. Before that it was coming home to a 13 and 16 year old. The older since moved out. My friends, family, say you gotta get a woman, you gotta stop working so much and enjoy life. Their not the ones trying to put food on my table. Trying to pay rent, cable, phones, your child's needs( clothes, school supplies, meds when sick, sneakers and shoes, etc.). Trying to save so my daughter can go to college and make a life where she doesn't have to work her ass off like me. When you have children, it's not about you anymore. Yes, I'm lonely, I'm sad, I miss the love of a woman, but nothings gonna get in the way of me making sure my daughter has all she needs and more.

I have lived this life all my life. Now my daughter is old in her 20s. I had to pay child support so I worked hard on the road. Her mom always told her I didn't want to see her because I was always gone. So there's a different ways to look at that. Yes I paid over 150 thousand dollars in child support never was late but iam still a sperm donor to my daughter and her family. Great song just always remember people see things differently than others God bless.

As a road conductor for the railroad this song is spot on for the non-traditional workin dad. Typically home 10hrs then back on the road 36-48hrs+ away from home then back home for 10hrs most days those 10hrs don't match up to when my wife and daughters are home so it could be a few days before I really get to spend time with them. Lucky for me they understand why I'm out here doing what I'm doing. I couldn't do it without their understanding I'm a blessed man 🙏 nothing in this world I wouldn't do for them

As someone who works evenings and only gets time on the weekend to spend with my family, the part when he says he remembers why he's working hits deep.

Not always is it a "daddy" putting it out. But so long as it's getting done is all that matters. Some daddies aren't "daddies" but sell outs.

Ive never resonated with a song more than this one. I come from nothing, and ive always said ill never let my kids come up like i did. I put in 80 hours or more each week to make sure they never go without. I hear it all the time "must be nice to own your home, must be nice to have multiple vehicles, i wish i had your kind of money...." blah blah blah, but tbey dont have the drive or motivation to do what i do or theyd have what i have. My favorite line of all time is 2 words, WORK HARDER. you want what i have? Work harder.
